Hi! I'm only a 34a - boohoo!! I usually just wear lightly padded t-shirt style bras..I'd love to wear something a bit sexier or something that will give me a cleavage! Anyone recommend any bras that are good for small bust?

Go up in the back, come down in the cup.

Used to work 25 years ago for the then revolutionary Rigby and Peller.

So the volume of these cups are the same.

30d, 32c, 34b, 36a. And so on

40a, 38b, 36c, 34d. These cup volumes are the same.

It's just the band around the rib cage that changes.
Yes your boob will fit in a 36a cup for instance, but it will probably ride up at the back if your actual back is 32inches.

So try the 32c.

Up in the cup, down in the back/band.

A 32c might feel very tight to you if you've been in a 36 band. All designs and brands come up differently on different body shapes and sizes.

My best advice is to start with the right feeling band/back and then match it to best fitting cup.

Yes you'll take many into the fitting room but you can start to understand it.

30D is my size. Here are my favourites - they have padding & are on sale.
Intuition Wacoal

Lace Perfection Wacoal

thesunwillout I understand your reasoning but go up in the back and down in the cup but I don't see how that would work for me. I wear 34A but my actual under boob measurement is 26 with round boob measurement being 27. So there's nowhere to go with coming down a cup. I'd love to get a bra that fits but I think I'm resigned to wearing bralet type bras.

KatharinaRosalie · 17/08/2022 21:36

SheilaWilde if you wear 34 back but measure 26 then you want to go down in back, but up in cup, not down. If you try your current bra on front to back, does the back still feel just as tight as the right way? If not, you can go down in back size.

I have Maxx cleveage bras - independent and own website. Otherwise balconette bras.

Namechanged454 · 18/08/2022 09:18

Went to try on some bras last night but was rushed for time so only tried one style (push up)..tried a 32C and low and behold it bloody fit me! I then tried a 32B and that seemed slightly more comfortable on the cup. It does feel tighter than I'm used to on the band but I think that's because I'm used to bras actually being too big. I've just got dressed for work and it actually looks like I've got some boobs! Going proper bra shopping after work now 😂

Yay!!

Namechanged454 · 18/08/2022 10:16

I'm walking around work feeling like Pamela Anderson 😂😂😂 they feel so supported, I can't believe I've been wearing the wrong bra size for 15 years! X

I remember exactly the same feeling, that it was a bit tighter, but actually the support and look are both great. Very glad you found the right size! I was surprised too.

Namechanged454 · 18/08/2022 15:22

Just been and bought four new bras...feel like I've had a free boob job 😂

That's so crazy, Namechanged454. I'm going to have to go and try some on as well now, just to see.

CJCreggsGoldfish · 18/08/2022 16:40

I got measured in M&S last week - I’ve been wearing 32A all my life as I’m flat chested so just assumed an A cup…I came out as a 30C! They look so much better and are more comfy. Never in a million years would I have thought a C cup would fit me, it’s a lovely confidence boost!

Thank you. I'll try this.

RampantIvy · 19/08/2022 13:03

If you have been wearing a 34A I wouldn't think you would need any support. When I was a 34A (or so I thought - I'm actually a 32D) I didn't need any support, and I don't need any now. I'm just too small. The right size bras just give me a better shape.

Namechanged454 · 19/08/2022 13:18

@rampantivy by support I didn't necessarily mean because they're big/heavy and need support. More so that the bra wasn't fitted enough before and gaped, so my boobs just kinda sat at the bottom and jiggled away to themselves 😂 now they're actually held completely by the bra. Hope that makes sense!

KatharinaRosalie · 19/08/2022 14:21

You can certainly get better uplift in a properly fitting bra - otherwise as OP says, the bra just sits there on top of boobs.

How can you get an A cup and a D cup mistaken? If your an A cup your basically flat!

Hiya it works the other way too.

Try a 32B or a 30C. This is only of course if you feel your 34s are generally too lose.

'loose'

RampantIvy · 19/08/2022 15:15

If your an A cup your basically flat!

Sadly, yes Sad
Without a bra I have no curves.

RampantIvy · 19/08/2022 15:19

How can you get an A cup and a D cup mistaken?

I was astounded when I went to a local independent bra fitter to find that a 32D was the right fit. The cups on the brand I bought are shallow but wider, so I don't get the double boob effect (not that I thought I was).

Sorry im that size also!! But I'm curvy though I just didn't get blessed with the boobs either. (Even more disappointed).

I have quite a small stomach though so I just embrace the good parts!

Because a 36a = a 30d

PeloAddict · 19/08/2022 15:49

And M&S keep putting people in cup sizes 4 sizes too small for them
I'm a 40HH according to M&S. I'm not!

Partly because people think A = small and partly because of mismeasuring in shops that tell women they are a band 4-inches more than they actually are.
People would laugh if i said I was a D cup cos I am small of boob, but im only a 30 inch back, hence the D cup.
