Anyone in their 50s and decided against Botox, fillers or anything but face cream?

I just wondered, prompted by the many recent threads. And not because you can't afford it either. I can afford them but have decided to age naturally for various reasons.

Feeling a little lonely though!

I don't know. Perhaps they're delaying the 'inevitable'. Fillers can only achieve so much. Though if fillers and Botox are used by a minority, then fewer still have facelifts.

Heart shaped faces with high cheekbones age more slowly in my opinion, i.e lack of sagging especially in the lower face. As has already been mentioned age, lifestyle, health, weight (including weight loss) and genetics all contribute to sagging, jowls or hollowing.

krill · 14/08/2022 16:14

My friend said that and then she met my dad
He genuinely looks 10-15 years younger than he is. And washes his face with anything that foams, it's sickening! Yes he has lines etc but he doesn't look his age
Although I'm grateful for the genes

Oh yes I don't doubt these people exist. Very lucky indeed!

Nobotoxno · 14/08/2022 16:17

I'm in my 50s and don't want any of it. Don't think it'd make me look any better.

Actually don't even use face cream!

shinynewapple22 · 14/08/2022 16:21

Honestly never considered it - and I don't think that friends of my own age (late 50s) would do so either . However I have a couple of friends around 10 years younger than me - so late 40s - and I know they have had procedures done - Botox, fillers etc - and have done quite a few years back .

BurgerQueen23 · 14/08/2022 17:35

It’s very common. I don’t mind lines on my face, but draw the lines at marionette lines and jowls so have fillers in my cheeks to get rid of those. I know I can’t find them forever, but at 50 I am not ready for them quite yet.

BurgerQueen23 · 14/08/2022 17:35

Fight them forever

I feel like my face is falling in at the moment (58). I’ve really noticed ageing quite suddenly in the past few months so I’ve switched powders to creams. I’ve been on serious meds the past few years for BC including chemo, so perhaps it’s all just catching up with me. I don’t want Botox as I hate that Klingon forehead look and the telltale nose wrinkles. I’d absolutely love a neck lift but I’m too scared of it going wrong. I saw one in here that was amazing though. I’m interested in Tret but I’m just not confident in getting it and using it. How do you know it’s the real stuff if you buy it from overseas?

Buy the tret from Dermatica or Skin and Me. There are threads here with discounts, you can usually get the first month free.

Well that is rather stating the anatomical obvious and nobody will disagree.

Oh, that's odd you say that. It wasn't "the anatomical obvious" earlier in the thread, when both you and that poster who said it was "irrelevant bollocks" were shooting down the notion that Botox, which freezes these muscles, could ever possibly contribute to sagging of the lower face!

krill · 15/08/2022 01:06

You've partially quoted me @milkyaqua

I wasn't talking about botox there as you know. The botox information was inaccurate.

What?!

krill · 15/08/2022 01:38

Try reading the whole thread, milkyacqua Hmm

milkyaqua · 15/08/2022 01:51

So funny! I was going to say the same thing to you!

You asked for clarification with your "What?!" and clearly missed the point before that with your partial quotes.

If you'd like me to explain a particular point once you've caught up then, genuinely, let me know and I'll be happy to do that.

Gonksmum · 15/08/2022 01:58

Mid-50s - don't use anything, not even face cream as skin is greasy enough without it.

No, I didn't ask for clarification. I was expressing surprise, wtf!, etc.

krill · 15/08/2022 02:05
Hmm

Grin

What, by the way, are your qualifications? You sound so certain, all through the thread. I gather, as you're under 40, none of it is from personal experience. Do you work in the industry in some way?

krill · 15/08/2022 04:07

None of your business about my qualifications, occupation or anything else, Milky.

I've clearly hit a nerve with you, so I do genuinely apologise for upsetting you, but you're in danger of hijacking the thread for no real purpose so I think you should stop now. I can't see the point in engaging with you further I'm afraid.

TheGetaway · 15/08/2022 06:09

Just jumping in to say starting Botox isn’t necessarily a slippery slope to more. It all depends why you have it done.

I first had Botox 15 years ago on my ‘11’s’. There was a deep line forming and I had a tendency to frown all the time. I still have Botox, a massive dose, but still just in that one place, every 5-6 months.

Nothing to do with looking younger, it just stops me looking constantly pissed off!

BurgerQueen23 · 15/08/2022 06:12

I am thinking of having my 11’s done too. Too scared to do anything around my eyes though.

Agree. I use on 11s but never have my crows feet touched and they are legitimate. I don’t want to look younger, just want to look like myself.

PannaCotta2 · 15/08/2022 08:20

Looking like myself is the best way to describe it. I got fillers when I turned 50. You see the result immediately and I felt like my face was my own again. It was wonderful. I would do lots of research and only let the best practitioners near my face.

Tabbouleh · 15/08/2022 08:43

The thread is for people who dont use fillers though:)
