Had quite a day yesterday. One very poorly elderly hamster discovered ( he hadn’t eaten his greens) which was all very sad and I couldn’t get him to vet to euthanase as when DH is away I have no car and everyone I know is away to avoid latitude or at latitude. Latitude festival itself was so bloody noisy ( the wind obviously the wrong way, we are maybe a mile away) that DD and the animals were really disturbed. It stopped around 4am I think . And then I discovered at 3 am a bunch of escaped hedgehog worms in the bottom of the cupboard we keep them in, they’d got through the air holes. So at 3 am we had to empty entire cupboard ( like a walk in wardrobe but full of DDs kit for her illness plus live insects/worms.) Did I ever say how much I hate live insects? Gross
got to bed at 4 and slept until 6.45
So today I will be sleepwalking
I doubt I look my best. Meanwhile, DH is having a ball with DD1!

@EllaPaella I have that cos dress but it looks much better on you! Mine is voluminous. Did you size down? I wish I had.

Sorry for weirdly entering the chat. I have had a drink and admire you all! You all look fab and are a diverse and interesting bunch. I poke my nose in every so often!

Ivor actually yes it's an extra small and I would usually take a small in Cos. I got it in the sale for £17 and haven't worn it much. It looks better with the fitted jacket over the top.

@Rollerbird the colour combination is great - I'm often drawn to buying lilac but it can be hard to find things that go with it. I'd maybe try a cami or vest top under the cardigan?

An ideal Sunday today - DH and I are meeting adult DCs for a walk and a pub lunch.

Top and jeans: both M&S. After years of never being able to find anything in there, I'm suddenly finding loads of things that I like and I know a few people who are the same. I wonder if they've had some kind of a design team / buyer overhaul recently?

@Rollerbird - I struggle with cardigans. That said, I have one which I’ve almost donated several times and which I’m
glad I didn’t because I currently love it.

It’s supposed to be 29C today. But it doesn’t feel like it’s going to be that warm.

@EllaPaella for rural destinations I'd recommend going to hot springs, they are fantastic here and it's really nice to soak in an outdoor bath while looking at snow/mountains/forest/sea in front of you. Makes your forget absolutely everything and just be there in the moment. Hot springs are everywhere in Japan and they are extremely popular with locals, I'd recommend looking at Hakone or Nikko if you will be traveling from Tokyo. Also there are lots of beautiful national parks for hiking if that is your sort of thing!

That is such a cute dress @toucaninjapan, love it. Poor PurplecatDog has an infection and is feeling very sorry for himself, so we are having a relaxing day while I cook a veritable Vat of plain chicken and rice to try and tempt him to eat.

Thanks for all the recommendations @toucaninjapan . I'm thinking of Japan in 2024 to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary if we get that far! Dh doesn't want to go to Japan. I'm thinking it would be wrong to celebrate our anniversary on my own so I'll need to work on him! Hope you are having a better day @Sooverthemill and managing to rest up. Get well soon @purpledog.I love the dresses @EllaPaella . Hope you are back to full health. It's a lot cooler here but it's so humid that it is more uncomfortable. Thin cotton trousers from BHS and shirt from seasalt. I bought two of these shirts from a charity shop last year and they are so cool and comfortable. (I do not work for or even have shares in seasalt!)

I am currently tidying my wardrobe. I’m a little shocked to discover that I currently own 13 silk blouses. And whilst I do wear them a lot as a staple of my office wear, I think it is safe to say that I don’t need any more!

Really like your Libby Loves dress @Sickoffamilydrama, I've been looking at their website, the current sale is v tempting.....

Back in the office and struggling to dress for the weather, everything either feels too warm or too cold (particularly factoring in office aircon).

Top: M&S - bought years ago because I love the colour but I never know what to wear with it. I default to black trousers and shoes but nowadays that feels a bit boring. Any suggestions (both for alternative colours and styles) gratefully received!

Thanks all. Sadly I had to take little tadpole the hamster to the vet today and she put him to sleep. DD is heartbroken but it was the right thing to do. He would have been 2 next month so he had a good innings

Aww @Sooverthemill, sorry about DDs hamster. A friend used to just buy another one the exact same and not tell her DD what happened. Eventually said DD had the oldest hamster in living memory and worked it out (she - the DD not the long line of hamsters - is in her 20s now).

@Purplecatshopaholic thank you! Yes we’ve often done similar in the past but this little chap was a winter white with really distinctive markings. He changed colour with the seasons. So friendly too, would sit on my hand and walk up my arm, from day 1. DD gives all her love her animals, they are definitely her whole world, being bedbound. Next in line is hamster two who is a litter mate and our old boy the dog who is on borrowed time I think. I have been dreading them all going at once!
