Suitable for a wedding?

Morning all,

I have a wedding early September and I'm wanting to go navy and fuschia pink. The reason is I have navy and fuschia shoes and matching bag and a fuschia bolero jacket. I really like this dress but didn't know if it was a bit over the top. I'm an all day guest. Not sure what other info you'll need to give me a hand with this but I'm a size 14, will be 47 then (in case this is too 'young' for me), long blonde hair and 5ft 2". Can't think of anything else to bring context to it...

It looks lovely! Not 'look at me' at all! The whole point of a formal event is to dress up and look/feel nice.

Hope it looks good IRL.

BluebellsareBlue · 17/07/2022 19:19

@TizerorFizz oh please don't think I was being rude about the wedding guests, they were all lovely. It was just a surprise for me.

And thank you to all the posters who have said it will be ok, I'll post the pics when I get it.

@LadyFlumpalot I'll bear that in mind also, thank you.

@CombatBarbie thanks for the heads up. My son is the captain of the Scottish fly fishing team and if I love it I've got loads of wee weights I can weigh them down with.

Scottish weddings are definitely more dressy than English weddings.

Well it depends, just like everything.

I have been to not dressy Scottish weddings, extremely formal English weddings and a few full scale military wedding

@BluebellsareBlue
My DDs would be devastated of anyone wore jeans to their weddings. Other than silky terms, it’s unusual to say the least.

Whataretheodds · 17/07/2022 22:19

NO PASHMINA PLEASE!

KurriKawari · 17/07/2022 22:23

It's lovely and right for a wedding.

TizerorFizz · 17/07/2022 23:37

??? I meant sulky teens!!!

skysareblue · 17/07/2022 23:53

I'm in scotland and someone I know wore that exact dress to a wedding, she's only about 5'2 and looked stunning in it so much so that I wanted to buy it to wear to a wedding but they didn't have it in my size (and I would have looked crap in it) so it's definitely wedding suitable!

I just LOVE this Grin

If you are 5'2" I suspect the dress that looks like that on the model might end up making you look a bit like a peacock with a trailing 'tail'.
I too think it looks a bit 'evening-y' and am not sure it will go with that style of jacket (which I love the colour of). I am prepared to be told that , as a rule Scottish wedding attire is different from English though.

Love your shoes and bag.

Having read on here a couple of times about it not being "fashionable" to have a matching shoes and bag, I've been inspecting all the photos of the weddings my nieces, nephews, and dc have been to, and also a couple of friends whose dc have got married, and I can say it is absolutely still a thing to have your bag match your shoes. So I wouldn't take notice of that.

quietnightmare · 18/07/2022 00:05

That is a stunning dress

BluebellsareBlue · 20/07/2022 22:25

So it arrived half an hour ago! Excuse the dog and the messy bedroom! I took my jammies off and stuck the shoes on.. so far???

Obvs there is no bra or holdy in pant as I just took my jammies off and took it out of the packing

I like it

quietnightmare · 20/07/2022 22:40

Twit twoooo. Looks great. Be confident

Mosaic123 · 20/07/2022 22:43

Have you looked at the website BombshellHQ?

They sell satiny plain blue ones which would be perfect. Beautifully cut and timeless in style. They are day/evening dresses and super elegant.

Lineala · 20/07/2022 22:50

If you are aiming for elegance you've probably missed it. Far too low for a wedding.

Minoloso · 20/07/2022 22:54

I think it looks fabulous. If you’ve got it flaunt it!

Mrstwiddle · 20/07/2022 23:02

Too low cut for a wedding

BluebellsareBlue · 20/07/2022 23:07

Oh I'll fix the too booby bit, I'm a 36DD so I'm used to using a needle and thread to hide the girls. Thanks so much to the one s that said it was ok, it's not ironed, my hair and make up isn't done and I'll def Be hiding the girls

EarringsandLipstick · 20/07/2022 23:32

@BluebellsareBlue

It's gorgeous. Really suits you & I think you're right to maybe see with the low-cut element but otherwise, it's fab! 💃

(The dog staring at you is hilarious!)

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/07/2022 23:34

That’s beautiful and ideal for evening.

not so sure about church ceremony, though?

(but what do I know?!)

LunchPoems · 20/07/2022 23:35

Ah, it’s Scotland, where I am, so it’s perfect.

Don’t do a bolero though, it’s fine as it is.

LunchPoems · 20/07/2022 23:36

And don’t even think Bombshell, that’s for oldsters
