Name-changed for this just in case!

100% honesty on this dress - I love it but my bust is considerably bigger than my waist so my chest always looks top heavy.

I feel like I have a flabby mum body - is this your first thought too? (Dress for special occasion, wanted to feel beautiful but mostly just feel matron-ish. Also please ignore trainers!)

Does nothing for you when you have lovely figure. I'd say you want to make more of your cleavage...not in an obvious way ...but because the v is narrow on the one you've got there, it's like mono boob look.

Something like this is similar but better fabric and more v neck? from Next - fhwt.app.link/PpFnV0yF9qb

LetitiaLeghorn · 25/06/2022 20:19

It's OK. If it's reasonably priced and comfortable, then fine. But if you paid quite a bit, no. You have a lovely figure and could do sp much better. I curse the Duchess of Cambridge for these tiers, peplums, frills and flounces!

ListerLess · 25/06/2022 20:19

Thank you so much everyone! So good to get a proper cross section of opinions, I've always found it difficult to do waist justice with big heavy boobs on top 😕

Also I really shouldn't have gone dress shopping in my old trainers 😂

I thought Little House on the Prairie too. Not very sophisticated . Your body looks fine, it's the dress that's the problem.

Amichelle84 · 25/06/2022 20:24

I think the dress looks lovely on you, and you have a lovely figure (are you mad)! I don't like the actual pattern and colour of the dress though, it's a bit boring.

I think you could find something much nicer!

monicagellerbing · 25/06/2022 20:25

You look like an Amish woman. You have a fantastic figure OP there must be 1000 other dresses out there that would look better

Peppermintz · 25/06/2022 20:26

I'm not a fan of the dress sorry

roxisolerenshaw · 25/06/2022 20:26

I really like it and you've got a lovely figure

Cherryblossoms85 · 25/06/2022 20:27

I agree that it's not all that flattering. Something more structured or belted would work better.

WindowsSmindows · 25/06/2022 20:29

If I saw you in that I'd think my God that woman has an amazing figure but she doesn't show it off.
But I've no idea what you should wear to show it off??

FishfingerFlinger · 25/06/2022 20:29

I think your figure looks great but I don’t love the dress itself, not for a special occasion.

Stopallthisnonsense · 25/06/2022 20:29

I think it looks great on you and I love the colour!

ilovebagpuss · 25/06/2022 20:31

I am similar shape and have yet to find a dress that flatters as they all seem to have that fitted or elastic under bust fit. Then if you go for a tunic type one it looks like a massive sack.
I have kept to more dressy separates if want a going out out or event outfit. Wrap dresses work if you can find the right one. Nice maxi skirt and pretty dressy vest top also looks more special.

sunglassesonthetable · 25/06/2022 20:31

I think you look like you've got a great figure!

But I don't like the dress. I think it looks drab and forgettable. And a bit 1970s geography teacher.

I think you should go with something a bit simpler and more clean cut to carry your shape.

Snuffy28 · 25/06/2022 20:31

I think it suits you. It shows off your bust and waist. Personally I'm not too keen on long dresses though and for me, it would look better as a midi dress, finishing mid calf length.

Theredjellybean · 25/06/2022 20:32

You look as if you have fantastic figure but that is a dreadful dress.
If you want to feel glamorous ignore the current trend for amish style chastity chic milkmaid dresses

TheYearOfSmallThings · 25/06/2022 20:32

I don't think it looks great and I don't think the dress does your figure any favours. A less frilly dress in a stronger colour with a better bra under it and you will look great.

UrsulaPandress · 25/06/2022 20:35

Laura Ashley late 1970s.

If that’s the look you are going for it’s great.

IfIhearmumagaintoday · 25/06/2022 20:36

It's a casual dress.
I think the colour is no good for a special occasion it needs to be more glam. You look very slim though.

thecurtainsofdestiny · 25/06/2022 20:38

Colour looks wrong with your skin tone and hair colour

risetodaysun · 25/06/2022 20:38

First thought is how tiny your waist is ! The dress is a bit matronly though in my opinion and ages you, i think.

Nosetickle · 25/06/2022 20:40

I have a similar figure and I don’t like wearing dresses that go in under the bust like that one does as it makes my bust look huge. Some might like that but I don’t. I prefer dresses that go in at the waist and think they look much better if you have an hourglass figure.

Easilystartled · 25/06/2022 20:40

I love your figure and I actually love the dress. It’s very 1970s Karen Carpenter. So if that’s what your going for………

Easilystartled · 25/06/2022 20:40

I think it does look like this.

I do like it, but more for daywear. Though I think you planned to change footwear. It could be dressed up I think.
