If you met a woman in her 50s without many wrinkles or "11s"....

.... would you assume she had had Botox? This isn't a stealth brag btw, I am not referring to myself (though I have not had Botox). Just a general and random question.

Also, would it make a difference if the woman was Asian or black?

I'm 50 and have zero wrinkles. But then I'm Asian. I also have very dry skin and have always moisturised, even when young. Not sure if it's the Asian thing or the always moisturised thing but something's done it. So my conclusion is, I dunno!

RockinHorseShit · 22/06/2022 15:23

No, I know plenty of Botox free 50 somethings that don't fit your description & I know 40+ who do

doadeer · 22/06/2022 15:34

Plenty people don't have a lot of wrinkles.

Often botox can give a sort of shiny look that is a giveaway - you always see this with celebrities. But obviously I couldn't possibly say I know every time when someone has botox. And it doesn't matter anyway.

Early 60s, no 11s or forehead wrinkles. Lifelong fringe, which I think has helped.

Same here

BigWoollyJumpers · 22/06/2022 15:49

So much of this is down to genes. I am mid 50's with just smile lines around my eyes, no other wrinkles. I haven't been particularly careful with the sun, I spent most of childhood abroad, and don't put suncream on much now either. I haven't spent much on fancy creams, and have never had a facial or any other beauty treatment.

I do have sun spots though, and a slack tech (book reading) neck, so I think you can tell my age, but that's fine, it really doesn't bother me.

Charley50 · 22/06/2022 15:51

I'm 53 with no real wrinkles.

JingsMahBucket · 22/06/2022 15:54

Can someone post an example picture of what 11s look like please? I'm not from around these (UK) parts originally and I've only ever heard the term on MN.

A picture of 11’s

Fairislefandango · 22/06/2022 16:05

No. I'd assume she hadn't had Botox unless I thought her forehead looked weirdly immobile or unnaturally smooth.

Londontown12 · 22/06/2022 16:11

I’m 46 and my brow technician asked if I’d had Botox lol nooooo I haven’t just good genes and I never ever tan ! (Very oily skin up too 44) as well x

Fairislefandango · 22/06/2022 16:19

I'm 50 and have the beginnings of slight crinkles on my outer eyes, but that's it. I always had oily skin (less so now), so I guess that's probably why.

JingsMahBucket · 22/06/2022 16:25

Ohhhh, is that all? That’s just normal skin folds happening though right? And thank you @OompaLoompaa for the picture.

springsally · 22/06/2022 17:10

Depends on how fat their face is really. If not much face fat and no wrinkles I'd be more suspicious. Not unusual to have a plump face with no wrinkles. As pp have said, many get sagging by their 50s anyway (me included Grin)

PuppyMonkey · 22/06/2022 17:21

I’m 55. Yeah, my face is a bit fat and round so not so many wrinkles, but I have a saggy throat. I’ve never heard of 11s. A fringe is always your friend for hiding wrinkles and frown lines on the forehead.Grin

That's a good description of how Botoxed skin appears to me, it's strangely shiny! I think I can usually spot when someone's had it, but it doesn't look bad, just different to non-Botoxed skin.

Cameleongirl · 22/06/2022 17:23

My SIL (55) hardly has a single line, she's always had oily skin. It was a pain in her teens, but she doesn't mind now!

OompaLoompaa · 22/06/2022 17:57

I don’t have any shine. I think the shine comes if you have it really frequently.

areyougonnago · 22/06/2022 18:45

I am much younger than all of you and have forehead wrinkles and the start of the 11's you at speak of.
However I like to remind myself it's because I have spent the majority of my life utterly astounded by other peoples bull shit and stupidity.
It shows.

It's true that stupid people are happy people( and they have less lines!)

Cameleongirl · 22/06/2022 18:47

@areyougonnago So you’ve been constantly raising your eyebrows in surprise or frowning at other peopke’s stupidity!? 🤣

DisforDarkChocolate · 22/06/2022 18:50

Nope.

I have oily skin, it's bloody annoying but very effective for wrinkle prevention.

Ragwort · 22/06/2022 18:52

I'm not prepared to post a photo wouldn't know how to but I have just stared at my face again in the mirror and assure you I have no wrinkles, age 64. I've got to reason to lie about it Confused. I do have a chubby face though, maybe slim people are more prone to wrinkles than overweight people - I love sun bathing as well. I just think it's down to luck and genetics, my 90 year old DM has very few wrinkles.

areyougonnago · 22/06/2022 18:58

@areyougonnago So you’ve been constantly raising your eyebrows in surprise or frowning at other peopke’s stupidity!? 🤣

I believe so.
I have a very dynamic face and struggle to not show my thoughts and emotions .Being surrounded by bull shit had certainly taken a toll.

catfunk · 22/06/2022 19:01

I'd only notice it if there were no lines or movement when they raised their brow or squinted (or had an obvious tambourine face)

spidersenses · 22/06/2022 19:05

I really wouldn't give it a thought at all. I don't study faces and make presumptions. Plus it's very hard to tell people's ages. We all age differently.

Merryoldgoat · 22/06/2022 19:06

I would expect a black or Asian person to generally be less wrinkled than a white person of a similar age.

Im mixed black and white. The women in my family are regularly mistaken due much younger - people used to assume my aunt was my sister and my son was hers when she was well into her 50s.
