Why are Vejas so uncomfortable?!

After a year or two or admiring them, I'm thinking of finally buying myself a pair of Vejas. However I'm constantly reading on here about how uncomfortable people find them, which is putting me off a bit! So I'm looking for opinions from anyone who has found their Vejas uncomfortable - what was the problem with them? Too wide / narrow / flat / hard?! My feet are an awkward shape so I'm hoping to find that they might actually suit me quite well Grin

Oh god yes Converse are awful at the start. Mine are looking to tired but I’m not sure I can face wearing in a new pair.

Spinfit · 17/06/2022 13:16

I have a pair of Vejas and they're very comfortable. Try Everlane - I have a pair of their trainers with the velcro straps and they are soooo comfortable I wear them to work (lot's of walking around). Also cheaper than Veja

I have a vegan pair that are great now they're broken in but if you're looking for comfy shoes then i'd recommend On Cloud as they're wonderfully light and comfortable. I've been walking 10+ miles in mine for the last 3 days.

WhatHaveIFound · 17/06/2022 13:27

That's 10+ miles on all 3 days not 10 miles over 3 days!

I'm a Nike Air Force One girl (have been since my first pair nearly 30 years ago). I did fancy a change and tried a few different Vejas but really didn't get on with them so didn't buy. I do have wide feet though (usually go for wider fitting options where possible in places like Clarks etc)

Serenity45 · 17/06/2022 13:31

PP has mentioned On Cloud which are my husband's current favourite - he's a Nike person but LOVES the On Clouds.

MargosKaftan · 17/06/2022 13:34

I have some vejas, they took a long time to break in, but are now comfy. However they took so long to break in, they now look scruffy and the soles are getting a bit smooth. I won't be buying a 2nd pair.

Delphigirl · 17/06/2022 13:37

They are two high and unyielding at the back for me and rub my chilled. Also just a bit clumpy and sweaty. I guess because they aren’t leather. Unforgiving I’d say.

GettingStuffed · 17/06/2022 13:37

I had vejas before they became famous, mine were really comfortable but I find a lot of trainers rub.

buntywindermere · 17/06/2022 13:39

My veja campos are undoubtedly the comfiest shoes I have ever had!! Far far far comfier than my vans, converse, supergas and Air Force. I walk a lot each day pushing a pram and they don't rub at all. I had the tongue problem for probably 3 or 4 wears and panicked a little but it softened really quickly. I have had the same pair since Autumn 2020 and thinking I'm going to get another pair this autumn - purely for cosmetic reasons though they're structurally still sound, just embarrassingly filthy (fake tan rubbed off around the ankles Blush).

Geranium1984 · 17/06/2022 13:45

I tried two styles on and they were really uncomfortable.
I went with supergra (the leather ones) and find them comfortable. Just about to order my second pair!

SNAFU247 · 17/06/2022 13:46

Just caved yesterday and finally ordered a pair of Campos after lusting for many months. Did almost purchase V-10s but thought they might be a bit chunky and I also wanted a more white trainer and the v-10 sole looked more beige.

Anyway... thoroughly prepared for horrible period of breaking in the long tongue on the Campos.

Any tips for how to do this???

UglyModernWindows · 17/06/2022 14:08

I'm one of those who usually struggles with new shoes but Vejas have been great straight from the box. I have five different style pairs and they are all comfortable. Like PP I also have slightly wide feet with a narrow heals 🤔

Converse on the other hand are not a great fit for me. And if I was on my feet all day, like sightseeing a city etc, then I would wear Sketchers as there's more arch support in them. Sod the style 😅

catfunk · 17/06/2022 14:11

I hated them. Very flat and stiff and the body of the shoe came away from the side of the sole really quickly.
The tongue is way too long and jabs you in the front of your ankle !
Much prefer Stan smiths x

TizerorFizz · 17/06/2022 14:55

@deedledeedledum
The original usp of Vejas was appealing to the non leather buyers. Sort of Stella McCartney for the masses. Most people I know didn’t buy leather ones. But the leather ones should mould to feet better.

whirlyswirly · 17/06/2022 20:30

Sold mine after a few failed attempts at walking short distances without bleeding, and went back to the Stan smiths.

AnnaMagnani · 18/06/2022 09:48

I love mine. Was a bit worried after reading on here that they needed breaking in but hasn't been my experience at all, comfiest shoes I own.

Heel is high and needed pushing back a few times to make it flexible but other than that, fine from the off. Lots of support and no issues with the much-mentioned tongue either.
