Why are Vejas so uncomfortable?!

After a year or two or admiring them, I'm thinking of finally buying myself a pair of Vejas. However I'm constantly reading on here about how uncomfortable people find them, which is putting me off a bit! So I'm looking for opinions from anyone who has found their Vejas uncomfortable - what was the problem with them? Too wide / narrow / flat / hard?! My feet are an awkward shape so I'm hoping to find that they might actually suit me quite well Grin

They lacerated my feet that’s all I can say. My Supergas are a million times more comfy

OddsandSods · 16/06/2022 20:05

They’re like converse and vans, rigid flat base, no arch support, pinch toes unless you have thin feet. They do a trainer type version that might be more comfortable.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 16/06/2022 20:08

Funny, I just got home and having had walked behind a woman who had red rubbings (is that a word even) on her Achilles heels and was wearing Veja. I noticed as I was pondering whether I should be a 🐑 and buy a pair.

Arnaquer · 16/06/2022 20:12

As PP said, no arch support, no padding or cushioning on the sole.
I thought I'd treat myself to a pair but on trying them on could see they were all style no substance

DogDaysNeverEnd · 16/06/2022 20:16

I love mine, most shoes cut my feet to shreds but I can walk for miles in my Campos. I have wide front and narrow heel with high arch. There's a bit of a heel lift I think that keeps my foot forward in them.

mizu · 16/06/2022 20:19

I can wear converse all day but had a pair of veja and they were unwearable- really hard back and weird tongue Grin I sold them and didn't bother even trying to wear them in!

honeynougat · 16/06/2022 20:22

So weird to read these comments I have wide feet and most shoes shred my feet but my Vejas are super comfortable. I did size up though because of width, maybe that's why? Very comfortable for me though and seem wider than usual trainers!?

DelorisVC · 16/06/2022 20:25

Mine are comfortable. More comfy than my converse.
Obviously I wouldn't go jogging on them but I could wear them all day and walk good distance without any problems.
I've got fat, wide hobbit feet too so often struggle with shoes.

Twotothreeagain · 16/06/2022 20:26

Try Victorias instead. They are really comfortable, and look very similar. www.calzadosvictoria.com/en_ES/madrid-contrasting-leather-effect/1258201-497.html

ShirleyPhallus · 16/06/2022 20:26

i have a few pairs of vejas and they’re really comfortable. Stan smiths are the most comfortable.

converse are ok but extremely flat and awful for walking too far.

BlackSwan · 16/06/2022 20:36

Completely agree - I only bought a pair recently. They look great but no cushion/arch support.
by comparison my Nikes feel like they’re moulded to my feet.
I guess decades of experience/a fortune spent on design and excellent quality control is hard to compete with

TizerorFizz · 16/06/2022 20:39

Man made doesn’t expand. Leather does. I prefer Geox leather or cheap M&S leather instead of expensive vegan shoes.

Oaktreelife · 16/06/2022 20:41

The vegan leather is hard compared to normal - that's why. I broke mine in by clipping back the tongue overnight so it stopped digging into my foot, and then they were fine. You do need to break them in a bit though.

CaptainTroy · 16/06/2022 20:44

Totally with PP who recommended Victorias. I have both, and the Victorias are absolutely heavenly to wear - so comfy - whereas the Vejas (I’ve got a few pairs) look good but never really get that comfortable. They do last well, though.

Guineapig123 · 16/06/2022 20:45

I found them awful, along with Supergas… have you tried air and grace? They are super comfy

GMOH · 16/06/2022 20:48

I find mine super comfortable despite struggling with shoes usually. Like a PP I have very narrow heels (sling backs are impossible) and more width at my toes. My feet are pretty much flat though.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 16/06/2022 20:53

So funny I was only considering buying a pair today but now I'm in two minds!

What would you guys suggest for just a classic white trainer than goes with almost anything, is super comfy and long lasting? Budget not reeeeally an issue if quality / longevity is great. Bonus points and huge thanks for answers with links!

Enjoyallthewine · 16/06/2022 20:55

I recently got a pair of the V -10 Vejas - I love them. Worn them loads. They do come up a bit small so I ordered a size 7 instead of my usual 6/6.5

OuttaBabylon · 16/06/2022 20:56

Mine are comfy, but the sole is so slippery, I can't wear them in the rain! Ridiculous.

Startuplife · 16/06/2022 20:58

I’ve tried a couple of pairs but the tongue is very long so cut into my foot every time I took a step. I asked a colleague how she wore the same style without any pain and she showed me the scars they’d given her while she was wearing them in!

Festivalpartygirl · 16/06/2022 21:03

Love my Veja’s, sad they are looking old but will definitely get another pair, Superga are the most uncomfortable shoes I’ve ever worn, guess it depends on our feet, what suits one doesn’t suit another .

victopai · 16/06/2022 21:08

I usually get blisters with all new footwear. I sized up and had no problems with them at all!

jackstini · 16/06/2022 21:18

Vote for the Victorias here too - can walk miles in mine

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 16/06/2022 21:22

I love my Vejas! I had expected them to be uncomfortable but they're anything but. I went on a city trip recently and walked miles in them for five days consecutively and my feet didn't complain even once. I think it's the wide toe box that suits me. I'm actually thinking of getting a second pair.

TeachesOfPeaches · 16/06/2022 21:36

Most shoes rip my feet to shreds but I find the v-10s very comfortable
