Why are Vejas so uncomfortable?!

After a year or two or admiring them, I'm thinking of finally buying myself a pair of Vejas. However I'm constantly reading on here about how uncomfortable people find them, which is putting me off a bit! So I'm looking for opinions from anyone who has found their Vejas uncomfortable - what was the problem with them? Too wide / narrow / flat / hard?! My feet are an awkward shape so I'm hoping to find that they might actually suit me quite well Grin

I love mine. I wore them for 4 days straight at Disneyland Paris, my feet were so comfy. Converse on the other hand I find very uncomfortable. I do have rather flat feet, so maybe that's why.

EllaPaella · 16/06/2022 21:56

Most comfy shoes I own.

Jijithecat · 16/06/2022 22:07

I have Veja Esplar and find them really comfy for my wide feet.
I have Converse too, but they're too narrow for me and I can't stop them squeaking.
I had looked at Veja Campo and noticed that quite a few reviews complained about the long tongue rubbing on their ankle so decided against them. Perhaps you just have to choose the style wisely.

Superga we’re better for me. I put some orthopaedic insoles in and they’re comfy all day now.

Lacedwithgrace · 16/06/2022 22:32

If you have narrow feet and no pain problems, they'll be fine but no arch support, cushioning and narrowed toe area makes them pinch and rub. I stick with comfycush Vans now, they're cushioned soles and very supportive even with my foot pain problems

mirrorballer · 16/06/2022 22:36

I have leather Vejas and they're really comfortable and I have wide feet.
My hi tops took a bit longer to wear in but neither have been uncomfortable at all.

stickybear · 16/06/2022 22:43

This is interesting, thanks for the replies! I have very narrow heels but wider toes, so it sounds from a few responses like I might be ok?! I don't get on with Converse but I do have some Superga that I find quite comfy, although they are far too wide for me

I love mine, I wear them every day and never had any problems.

HundredMilesAnHour · 16/06/2022 22:57

The first time I wore them, the tongue stuck in the front of my ankle so much that both ankles bled. I tried a few more time then wondered why I was bothering when and got rid of them. I'll stay with my New Balance x Casablancas.

Bouledeneige · 16/06/2022 23:00

My Vegas were really stiff and uncomfortable to begin with. My Nikes are way more comfy from the outset - more arch support and cushioning.

slightlysnippy · 16/06/2022 23:07

Apart from there is no padding on the soles, I found them really quite comfy, didn't have to break them in.

Although they feel cheap and only lasted half a season before the side of the sole cracked, so I won't be buying again.

TizerorFizz · 17/06/2022 07:12

I notice Net a Porter have leather Vejas. The Campo. This might be a better option and are clearly a departure from their ethos!!

They lacerated my feet that’s all I can say. My Supergas are a million times more comfy

Ouch! Supergas aren't that comfy either!

OP Would highly recommend Stan Smiths, they're cheaper too.

soundofsilver · 17/06/2022 07:29

I saw five women (five!) sat on the tube in a line, all wearing them.

Mercurial123 · 17/06/2022 07:52

They're the work of the devil so uncomfortable. I gave mine away. Agree every other person seems to be wearing them.

MeridasMum · 17/06/2022 07:59

I have 'funny feet' and don't find many shoes comfortable so I was definitely surprised by my Vejas. They were comfy from the off! I didn't have to 'break them in'.

However, I'm so disappointed that I've just had to throw them away. They were wrecked after 6 months of wear. I did wear them a lot but not daily.

I'm now torn about whether to get them again or not. Comfy but not made to last.

They have different styles. The V-10s and the Campos are very comfortable, as are the vegan versions of other styles.

missmoon · 17/06/2022 08:05

I also have a more comfortable insole in them, you can take out and replace the insoles with any of your own.

missmoon · 17/06/2022 08:06

They have great sustainability policies which is why I bought them initially.

Mercurial123 · 17/06/2022 08:08

V-10s and the Campos are very comfortable

My feet would disagree the Campos were v. v. uncomfortable.

Man made doesn’t expand. Leather does. I prefer Geox leather or cheap M&S leather instead of expensive vegan shoes.

But Veja do loads in leather too.

bookwormish · 17/06/2022 08:31

I loved my vejas. V cool and go with everything. However they were extremely uncomfortable at times. I had developed plantar fascitis which has strangely gone since I binned them!

sunja · 17/06/2022 08:43

What about the Venturi's? Are those comfy?

Summer15coming · 17/06/2022 08:48

Really surprised by how many people find them uncomfortable! I have awkward feet, but other than the tongue needing to soften initially, they were fine.

I now have some Flamingo Life Retro 90's, which I love.

Why are Vejas so uncomfortable?!
WowStarsWow · 17/06/2022 09:42

I’m an adidas girl, but I did give in and buy some v10s as they look so good. No problems with the tongue but I have a very high instep (and arches too but I do mean instep). I put half orthotics in all my shoes just for the arch support. The first time I wore the v10s I did find that one rubbed at the back of the ankle while wearing trainer socks. If I wear them with proper socks under longer jeans then they don’t rub.

Converse absolutely sliced up my feet so it really is just finding what works for you. But if you have a high instep then ime you don’t need to worry about the tongue issue with Vejas.
