Looking forward to some more royal style - we've been absolutely indulged lately!🥰

Maireas · 11/06/2022 14:47

That's nice, @paradyning , unfortunately it's behind a pay wall, but I saw the first image! Nice cloaks!

Oh is it!! I managed to see it and didn't pay!
It's very bling and a daring low cut for a princess. Would have Pearl clutching I'm sure from the grey men.

reminds me a little of the film Coming to America.

KillingMeDeftly · 11/06/2022 17:39

Our favourite birthday girl in Norway, wearing a rather intriguing caped dress. It's a lovely colour too. Queen Sonja looks elegant but not sure about MM's bubblegum pink dress. That shade always reminds me of Gwyneth Paltrow at the Oscars!

MM's dress looks very Valentino. Kind of suits her but not keen!
Love CPM's dress and Queen S too

paradyning · 11/06/2022 17:59

Oh and HH again. Nearly missed him there then!

DisforDarkChocolate · 11/06/2022 18:13

That bubblegum pink dress is definitely not my style but I think MM looks very lovely in it.

SeaRabbit · 11/06/2022 18:55

All those dresses look rather cheap to me - cheap colours, not-exactly-luscious fabrics, and ill-fitting. Maybe it's the Barbie pink of MM's dress that makes everything look askew. Normally they all look very good.

Maireas · 11/06/2022 19:32

Oh dear, not keen on MM's dress, with the little bow at the neck and the trim, or even the Eternal Birthday Girl's dress, elegant though she is. I'm put in mind of the Evening Wear section of John Lewis in 1970 - they had a section called Jean Varon which I thought was impossibly elegant as I passed through to get school socks. Lots of floaty pink and extra trimmings.

Oh, beautiful! I like the bridal dress but especially the mother's outfit. Somehow so classic yet not dull.

susiebluebell · 11/06/2022 19:47

@Maireas See, I like the floaty pink and extra trimmings! Love that dress on CPM. And also the cut and colours of Queen S's dress.

CliffsofMohair · 11/06/2022 21:39

I don’t much like MM’s dress . Unfortunate boob dartage. The dress styles are incongruent with each other. CPM looks like she is going to an evening wedding or glamorous function, MM looks like she might be attending a conference dinner.

Eaumyword · 12/06/2022 08:05

I really like CPM Birthday Girl's dress there! Not keen on the others though. I now what you mean about it being a bit 1970's John Lewis/Margot Leadbetter (The Good Life) though...

Maireas · 12/06/2022 08:50

Margot Leadbetter it is, @Eaumyword, much as she is my social role model, I'm not keen on the style. Perhaps CPM's dress in a stronger colour?

OP posts:
LadyEloise1 · 12/06/2022 08:51

I don't like any of the dresses there.
CPM looks like she is being strangled by her dress. Smile
I don't like the colour of her dress either
What would you call that colour - dusty rose ?
MM's dress looks like it was run up quickly by a relative who had a bit of fabric and trimmings. It looks like a " My Mum made my dress for the prom and it was awful, I can't believe I actually wore itBlush" dress.
Sorry MM.

MotherofPearl · 12/06/2022 09:01

Yes I'm not a fan of those dresses either. I am generally not a fan of pink and those dresses don't change my mind about that.

MotherofPearl · 12/06/2022 09:12

Philippe and Mathilde are in DRC at the moment.

I know, like me, there are plenty of white stiletto haters on here, but there can be few situations less suited to them than a dusty school field in Lumbumbashi.

I'm also not crazy about the belted khaki suit, but I love her sunglasses.

I love the hybrid outfit of the man she's with in the second photo.

Maireas · 12/06/2022 09:20

That man's outfit is a cracker! Love his styling. Mathilde not so much, and I agree @MotherofPearl about the white stilletos. The khaki safari suit is a bit more suitable, and I like her sunglasses 😎

OP posts:
KillingMeDeftly · 12/06/2022 09:46

"Queen Mathilde, I presume?"

The safari suit is a bit colonial and I would've thought that was a connotation they'd want to avoid in the Congo. All she needs is a pith helmet to finish it off!

KillingMeDeftly · 12/06/2022 09:51

Speaking of Mathilde, this is an um, interesting coat from last week. I love Eleanore's dress and would happily wear it myself! It's event-appropriate but still youthful.

MotherofPearl · 12/06/2022 09:57

"Queen Mathilde, I presume?" GrinGrin

I thought the safari suit smacked a little of neo-colonialism too.

LadyEloise1 · 12/06/2022 10:14

I'd love Mathilde to grow her hair and get a fringe. I think it would take years off her. She'd look great.
