This is week 2 of the first WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2008. Hello everyone.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Hello all.
Fab news on the scan Duchess, with yourself and L&S that takes the baby count for me up to eleven this year (although when speaking about the number of babies due in RL I have to cut that down to nine as you do get odd looks when you drop "oh, yeah, of course the Duchess and LoveandSqualor are due about that time too...."). It's a baby explosion.

I too second living in the country if at all possible. I find that exercise is sort of forced on to you if you're trying not to use the car all the time.

Mainly eating fruit and yoghurt today and considering having a mid-week tipple. Will see.

WWW - have you read 'Atonement'? I loved it and would recommend that you read it before seeing the film version and forever having the book tainted by the annoying Knightly.

L&S - I totally missed that you were having a boy too - congratulations! How lovely to have 2 bootcamp babies!

winnie · 16/01/2008 12:38

Thanks for all the kind comments about my children those of you who know the situation Dd still has a long way to go but she is making small steps, which are turning into major achievements and she is returning to the girl I once knew Our relationship is close once again

Two bootcamp babies is lovely and Duchess I am so pleased your scan went well. I am so excited for you all

Marina, I hope you are ok (?)

Bootcamp is ok (ish) at the moment. I do however need a bit of a kick up the arse as I am not as focused as I should be. I really need to get back into the walking. So please feel free

Did anyone watch Cook Yourself Thin? I've never watched it before last night and I'd thought it was going to be all about substituting butter, oil, choc, sugar etc with crap low fat versions of the stuff but it didn't appear to be. I might see if the book is in the library and have a look at it before buying.

marina · 16/01/2008 12:51

Am OK thanks winnie and so pleased to hear your news re your lovely dd
Also had not realised we now have two little bootcamp boys in the offing, glad all scans have gone well! Boys rock, mine constantly has me in stitches. He is just the best company, but then he is eight!
Did well yesterday on food and drink, plenty of water (2l), Count on Us comfort lunch from M & S of low-cal wrap & choc mousse, plus blueberries and mango and a banana at tea-time. Dh cooked chicken and veg stir-fry later
Really must work on bedtimes, consistent application of what ds used to call "cree" and eating breakfast. Am so tired at the mo am having to dash out of the house without eating and that's not good.
Erm, must unwrap my Dancersize DVD tonight...

hi marina I'm sorry to hear your news re: your uncle. and I hope you're feeling better after the weekend, you were much missed!

just eaten lump of bread, ham, cherry toms and cucumber (again a lump) - and a banana

plus small bacon buttie and latte when got into work

local pool has reopened and may do a few lengths now weather a bit better (does thinking about it help with those lbs?? )

bundle · 16/01/2008 13:02

oh and batters, you did look gorgeous on Saturday, xxx

winnie · 16/01/2008 13:19

lol at bundle and marina (again)... of course thinking about it helps, probably as much as unwrapping the dvd

Batters, I've been to the website and it is intriguing but mainly meat based recipes and as I am vegetarian I think I will simply borrow book from the library. I will watch it again next week (if I remember - I hardly ever watch tv and always miss what I want to see!)

tortoiseSHELL · 16/01/2008 13:22

winnie, I'm so pleased to read about your daughter, such good news!

LoveAndSqualor · 16/01/2008 13:48

Thanks so much for congrats, everyone! WWW, this is actually my first! so i know nooothing, and (particularly after what I think has been an easy pregnancy) am expecting a rude awakening in two months' time. Hence, in part, healthy living drive, on the grounds that it's sensible to go into it in a reasonable state ...

actually, on the note, I have my first ante-natal class next week (private, as NCT all booked up years in advance as far as I can tell round my way), and just had reminder-mail today. According to the email class, joining me will be Esther, Edwina, Cordula and Arabella. Yes. Am going to have to seriously consider upgrading my name (apologies to all Esthers, Edwinas, Cordulas and Arabellas out there - it's not the indiv names, it's the cumulative effect )

Oh and WWW, no doubt you are already aware of the financial subclause whereby money spent on books officially Does Not Count as real money? It's always a huge relief to me, I can tell you.

Not bad so far today - recovered from sickness, cycled into work, two slices of toast with peanut butter, banana and chicken wrap with lots of carrot and leaves for lunch. Oh yes: an a kitkat.

Off now to wrestle with stupid HR dept over mat leave details - I write freelance for the publication I work for as well as working under contract f/t, and they've just told me that I have to stop freelancing too when I'm off, which will mean us living on dustballs and dried peas for a good couple of months. Gah.

LoveAndSqualor · 16/01/2008 13:55

ps Prufrock - meant to say re Bridge - good work! I always bugger myself up on no trumps, trying to work the table and the hand and getting tied in knots ...

marina · 16/01/2008 13:55

Whooohoo...a first time mum on Boot Camp
I hope we have all inspired you LAS with our impressive self-discipline, ability to multitask and transparent devotion to our wonderful children
Bundy, I had a muffin downfall on Tuesday, frankly Special K hoovered up while being squawked at by dd "Prudence has a gingerbread man for a snack. Why can't I have one" x 5,000 just is not the same.
I so will unwrap the DVD tonight you mean mob (makes no undertaking to play DVD or get off couch to join in)

marina · 16/01/2008 13:56

Your NCT mob sound fun though agree it is cumulative rather than individual (admits to secret liking for Edwina despite bad political associations)

LoveAndSqualor · 16/01/2008 14:03

Yes - it's the fact of all those names in a row that's so overwhelming, I think ... I'm quite partial to Esther on its own, actually, thinking about it ...

And absolutely: I have divined from this thread (and indeed MN in general) that motherhood is an oasis of calm, in which previous personality defects (chronic inability to organise, meet deadlines, budget, keep self on generally even keel, in my case) magically correct themselves, and all is sweetness and light for ever more. Correct? If not, I will be asking for my money back.

tortoiseSHELL · 16/01/2008 14:12

Can I just sad "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH. Sometimes I really despair of so-called educated peopl." That's all.

tortoiseSHELL · 16/01/2008 14:12

And clearly people should have an e on the end.

tortoiseSHELL · 16/01/2008 14:13

(Not anyone on here, tis RL I'm afraid....)

tortoiseSHELL · 16/01/2008 14:13

And should be add not sad.....I obviously can't type today!

bundle · 16/01/2008 14:14

marina, am liking special k with red berries atm and rather sulked when morrisons only had the yukky looking apple version (had to buy morrison's own lite version, god knows what they'll be like)

marina · 16/01/2008 15:53

hutch scrapings and you know it bundy
Come on torty, dish - or is it too painful to type and SMR-related

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 16/01/2008 17:27

Welcome to bootcamp kidsrus.
polly - I'm due on 26th May.
www - glad a good book is easing the journey
pru - bootcamp may suggest names but I'll do the choosing I think!
batters - hope you sleep better tonight
marina - are you dancersized?

Ocado's free gift this week was a Granola Bar (only 42g, not 100g). It makes me smile everytime I see it in the cupboard.

I've had 2 x toast & marmite, apple, prawn & avocado salad, 1/2 bag of Hula Hoops, fig roll biscuit and have no idea what to eat for dinner. DCs are having sausages but I'm very 'off' those atm.

Everything else very good today. Extremely long walk with the dog - sunny too, absolute delight after yesterdays rain. I still haven't put a new battery in my Moron. [duh]

Enjoy Torchwood (I can't be doing with it, not lusting after Capt Jack is probably why).

Prufrock, no, I didn't hear you and Ks on that, where is she? But if it's gripping I'll consider it. bah at 100 sit ups being easy peasy! Bridge club? Tell us more about that! Is it fun? We have horizon broadening hobbies on thsi thread, what with wine club and organ playing and bridge...

Bama, lol re cutting down the babies when you tell it irl, ha ha. Yes, I say "a friend of mine..." No, I haven't read Atonement. I have got weedily pathetic about reading anything that's a proper book. I used to like Ian McEwan and I've read The Cement Garden adn the horrific one about the lost child, a child in time, that's it and others but I only seem able to cope with frothy crap these days. I have become shallow and lightweight with age I think. I detest Keira, she annoys the hell out of me, no idea why. Pouty non acting maybe? Did you have your tipple? I want one but will resist and once it's 9pm the moment has definitely passed and the danger is over!

14000 is v good batters, poor dd and poor you, broken sleep is hell, I know. Someone left Heat on the train and I read about Capt Jack and thought of you, I am lookign forward to it too.

Winnie, at your daughter, that's so lovely to hear. And consider yourself kicked up the arse bootcamp wise, REPORT to ME DAILY YOUNG LADY! Tell us more about cook yourself thin if you find out more.

Marina, that sounds like a lovely and healthy lunch, I love M&S, no idea why their results were so poor this year. Anything we can offer to help on the tiredness? Do you know why etc or is it just life? Will try to find old thread about tiredness and ways of combatting it in a minute.

Bundle, nice to see you, but no, thinking about it doesn't work, much to my chagrin

L&S, oh it's your FIRST?! How lovely and exciting. Are those names really real? ha ha ha ha! Where do you live? Chelsea? My sister went to ante natal classes in North London and everyone worked in telly (as does she) Thanks for reminding me about the financial subclause, I'd forgotten about that, and when of course it's considered in conjunction with the first class ticket essential for my vile commute, it's practically a net profit!

Marina, lol at muffin downfall. HAve you unwrapped the dvd yet? Did it work?

L&S yes, that's right, motherhood makes us all perfect

Tshell, are you ok, do tell more if it would help.

I really fancy Capt Jack too...
