Are these shoes hideous?

I'm after some shoes for work that are going to be supportive, and go with tapered trousers, knee-length dresses worn with bare legs in summer and just below knee-length dresses with black tights in the winter. I would usually wear ballet flats but feel like they're ruining my feet and posture.

I found these which I thought might at least do for with trousers/summer but not sure if they're fugly?

If they are can anyone recommend something that would fit the brief?

They're not the best!

100problems · 22/05/2022 14:44

Yes

CuriousCatfish · 22/05/2022 14:45

I like them, but then I wear shoes for comfort and not style.

thenightsky · 22/05/2022 14:45

I've seen worse.

beechhues · 22/05/2022 14:46

They're not bad but better if they were one colour - have you tried Gabor?

annonymousse · 22/05/2022 14:47

Just neutral. I don't think I would even register them.

Fitterbyfifty · 22/05/2022 14:49

I got some josef seibel flats that have support if you are looking for ballet flats but I don't think they are bad.

LapinR0se · 22/05/2022 14:49

they’re pretty identical to the ones the nuns at my convent school wore.

dressy trainers are way more modern. Golden goose etc.

EdithGrantham · 22/05/2022 14:52

Hmm, mixed reviews so far then! I've just had a look at Gabor and they're out of my price range, I can't afford more than about £40 which does limit me unfortunately.

£390 for trainers 😱 and trainers are definitely a no-go with our works dress code policy

They’re a bit ‘old lady’.

NC1010 · 22/05/2022 15:01

No I don't like them. They look really boffin like.

RosesAndHellebores · 22/05/2022 15:06

I think they are fine but I wouldn’t wear the same shoe with trousers and dresses probably. What about a nice loafer? I've also seen some nice flat leather lace ups with punched out leather.

I'm not sure you will find something supportive and with arch support to serve all your needs for £40 tbh.

I like loafers in theory but always think they make my feet look massive, don't know why because they don't seem to do that on other people.

Maybe I need to focus on something to go with dresses or trousers now then another pair to go with the other in a few months, it's the old Vimes' boots problem.

I quite like them

TreesAtSea · 22/05/2022 18:47

I really like them, OP, and got something a bit similar a few years back from Clarks. Could I ask where they're from?

Here I'm not convinced, I think I need to go to some real life shops and find some in person

I like them! I would definitely wear them.

TreesAtSea · 23/05/2022 09:06

Thanks for the link, OP. I see they do other colours too. Probably best, as you say, to have a look at some in the flesh, though. Good luck!

RuthW · 23/05/2022 09:23

I like them and think they would be perfect.

SallyWD · 23/05/2022 09:25

i really like them. I think they look nice and not frumpy. If you wear the right clothes with them they'd look good.

ArtVandalay · 23/05/2022 09:29

They are frumpsville.

tootiredtobother · 23/05/2022 09:42

dam, why do shoes stop at an eight, their size chart says im an 8.5 do they do them in that size, no they bloody dont
has anybody bought 8's loose fit, if their feet are actually 8.5 and can wear them ????

AndStand · 23/05/2022 10:24

God, they look comfy!

I know, I'm not sure if I'm quite at the stage where comfort trumps style though, not that I've ever been particularly stylish! And I definitely am not for some things, e.g. have embraced wearing walking sandals for anything more than a quick stroll round the block, but for work I'm not so sure.
