Can I be cheeky and ask you to show me some of the new clothes you will be taking on holiday this summer!!
I need some inspiration. Had a quick look round h&m at the weekend and it looked like I'd gone back to the 1990s!!
I have a wardrobe full of summer clothes but over the past year I've put weight on which is proving quite hard to shift, so it looks like I need to buy things that actually fit!!

I just ordered this shirt/beach cover up..

I've just bought some plain long linen dresses - because I sweat a lot but I don't like being too exposed. I bought this dress in white, khaki and black. It has pockets, is comfy and I can dress it up or down with shoes, handbags and hats. https://www.matchesfashion.com/products/1459924?country=GBR&utmsource=google&utmmmedium=cpc&utmcontent=1459924000005&utmmterm=890110122146&gbraid=0AAAAADg3ZybtCFuZjiDT1gKrt0EQj8558&gbraid=0AAAAADg3ZybtCFuZjiDT1gKrt0EQj8558&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI292vsjj9wIViLbtCh3kuwGGEAQYAiABEgKhtDDBwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I bought a lovely pair of pale pink pinstripe shorts in M&S (annoyingly DH picked them out for me Grin I said oooh yes I will think about them, he said he thought that shops weren't overstocking on summer clothes this year as there may not be as many people going on holidays this year. Annoyingly again, he appears to be right, because I can normally rely on Matalan for bikinis and their stock is very limited this year.

I will travel in the shorts with a white tshirt on top with a linen shirt over it and a Panama hat.

When I get there I will live in bikinis and cut off shorts and white or back tshirts.

Very dull I am afraid and probably no help whatsoever. Blush

Kittykatmacbill · 16/05/2022 13:08

I just got myself a pair of these Uniqlo tapered trousers www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-ultra-stretch-active-breathable-tapered-trousers-445649.html
they as light as air, dry instantly and are look great.

i’ll probably pair with interesting shaped vests like this www.decathlon.co.uk/p/nh500-women-s-eco-friendly-walking-vest-top/_/R-p-308098?mc=8554433

(but I perpetually go round looking like explosion in a sports ware shop!)

LostCats · 16/05/2022 13:09

AnotherTroyforHertoBurn I liked the sound of those shorts so much I went and found them on M&S online and have ordered some 😁They look so amazing! But now I have a huge debate going on in my head as to whether to buy some of the other colours too as I need new shorts.

BlueKaftan · 16/05/2022 13:16

this dress from Seasalt is hugely comfortable and cool.

@Kittykatmacbill I like the trousers I'd never have even thought of them before, bet they look lovely with a nice vest top and sandals

@AnotherTroyforHertoBurn this outfit for travelling sounds fab, will take a look at m&s site. I do love denim cutoffs but fear this year I'm just slightly heavier for them to actually look good 🙄

@ItsRainingTacos79 they are gorgeous, just what I'm looking for, bit pricey for me so will have to keep looking!!

@PeacheyPeach I managed to get them in TK Maxx and on eBay. If you like that style I saw quite a few Seasalt linen dresses in that style on eBay and TK Maxx.

worriedparent12 · 16/05/2022 14:49

I got myself this dress from Charli London

www.charli.com/collections/dresses/products/talia-midi-dress-slate

I'm very happy with the dress.

We're going to Istanbul in June and I needed something a bit more modest than my usual dresses due to the different culture there.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 16/05/2022 14:51

Off to Italy in a couple of weeks, got these bits:

Cargo trousers
Co-ord set
Green shorts

rookiemere · 16/05/2022 14:54

Got this linen top in blue and white . Thinking it's versatile and flattering www.marksandspencer.com/pure-linen-puff-sleeve-blouse/p/clp60525246?color=WHITE&prevPage=srp

I'm trying to find some nice sleeveless collar button-downs, but either something's not to my taste or the fit looks wrong. In terms of actually finding items, I like bright colours with cheerful patterns. Most of what I'm seeing is either too office-y or very flowery/too 'feminine', or just a bit dull. Or it has a too revealing neckline - I don't button-up to the neck, but that's the sort of style I like. Or it's made of polyester!

Fit wise, I have a longer torso and broader shoulders. If a top is listed as 23", that's just about tolerable but not brilliant, as it'll ride up a bit if I bend over, etc. OTOH, I don't wear tunics!

I also find it hard to know where the shoulder seam is meant to be in this type of top. They all seem cut to curve in, but that makes it harder to estimate if it'll be comfortable if you're not basing it on the seam being at the end of the shoulder. I can see a cm or so of skin between a denim top I have and my armpit - is that really how it's meant to fit?

Precipice · 16/05/2022 15:22

Not particularly summery because it's sleeved, but I recently bought this linen shirt hannahcanvas.com/collections/tops/products/linen-short-sleeves-shirt-teal (although the sizes run small, so might not be an option for you) and a cool, sort of Hawaiian-style shirt off ebay.

I'm renewing some of my knee-shorts, faded through the sun, by hand-dye. They were looking on the way out last year, but now they'll have a few years in them yet!

Thisismynewname123 · 16/05/2022 17:11

I just bought this dress. I normally struggle with dresses because I have a long torso but this fit really nicely, and surprised me because I never normally buy clothes in Sainsbury's:

SommerTen · 16/05/2022 17:37

I have just bought these shorts from Next.
Obviously she's about a size 6 and I'm a 16 but they look ok & fit well.
I wanted the Mom shorts originally but they were uncomfortably high waisted so it had to be the Boy shorts.

Also bought these comfortable sandals & these plimsolls from New Look. I got Blue Light Card discount for both.

I know it won’t be to everyone’s taste but I have this on the way. I’m hoping it’s loose enough to be cool but also cover the back of my legs which aren’t amazing.
