Hi all, I need a bit of inspiration! I'm looking for some work dresses as I only have 3 that I currently fit into. I like quite flowery formal dresses, and am an autumn so suite purples, oranges, dark reds and greens etc. They need to be practical, so not too long but not too short, and definitely no boobs!

Has anyone bought anything recently that would fit the bill? Budget is probably up to £50. I just don't know where to look!

White Stuff do some great wrap and jersey dresses and you can sometimes pick them up on eBay.
Seasalt too but they're a little pricier.
FatFace
Sainsburys TU range are pretty good too

Try Brakeburn

I have a few fit and flare dresses from the Peopletree sale and a suit dress from M and S for more formal occasions. My nicest is a red fit and flare, but it was from the Pepperberry closing down sale - they might still be available on eBay etc.

Emily and fin. They're a bit outside your budget, but you can find them barely worn on eBay for under £50.

I got a whole batch of dresses in the mistral sale a few months ago. I've taken the wearing dresses with slim cropped trousers and flats - like a western version of shalwar kameez so I can be completely confident reaching up down and around, crawling to speak to people under tables etc etc. White stuff is good for print dresses also.

Lifestooshort57 · 14/05/2022 08:40

I get my teacher dresses from matalan, TU, F&F and New Look (was surprised with those ones). I wear midi dresses which are practical to wear with boots, sandals or trainers.

yoshiblue · 14/05/2022 08:44

I would second Tu and also look at M&S

MadAngryCry · 14/05/2022 08:49

My favourite teacher dresses I've got in the Hobbs sale, particularly like the Bayview style.
The other brands I wear the most are Hell Bunny and Lady V London.

I’ve had some lovely dresses from Principles at Debenhams - online now sadly. They wash well and look professional without being formal.

Libertybear80 · 14/05/2022 08:53

Sea salt have some lovely floral dresses in

Windflower92 · 14/05/2022 10:24

Wow some lovely dresses on these sites, thank you! Matalan was a surprise to be honest - I shop there for my children's clothes but they have some beautiful dresses!

Most of mine and DD's teacher dresses are from matalan. They have a lovely range that obviously suits both age groups of teachers on a family! Prices are amazing too.

peridito · 14/05/2022 12:15

crawling to speak to people under tables😃😃

Whattodo121 · 14/05/2022 12:20

I have some lovely ones from mountain warehouse of all places! Pretty patterns, wash well and were only about £20 each when there was a sale on. Although one child did ask if the print design on one of them was ‘crab sticks’ so I don’t wear that one to work anymore 🤣🤣🤣🤣

peridito · 14/05/2022 16:45

Gosh Whattodo you're right !

Whattodo121 · 15/05/2022 08:24

YES! He tried to make it better by saying that he really likes crab sticks (and sushi) and that he liked the dress 🤣 this ‘child’ was 18 by the way, and a lovely boy but I did tell him that I would never ever wear that dress to work again! Teenagers are brutal…!

Popsy dresses are all under £50, wash well, really comfy, good patterns, florals, stripes and subject themed ones for teachers and they have pockets!
Loads of teachers choose them as they're fun and practical.

WinnerwinnerGinfordinner · 19/05/2022 18:28

My work wardrobe is mainly Popsy (pockets and no ironing are major wins for me!). I also have quite a few from M&S and also sainsburys. Anything that might be on the booby sode I stick a crop top or modesty panel under just in case

CanYouHearMeAtTheBack · 19/05/2022 18:32

Weird fish do some nice ones

Livinthedream84 · 19/05/2022 18:59

My two favourite teacher dresses are both from Oliver bonas! They come just below the knee
