Teacher dresses

Hi all, I need a bit of inspiration! I'm looking for some work dresses as I only have 3 that I currently fit into. I like quite flowery formal dresses, and am an autumn so suite purples, oranges, dark reds and greens etc. They need to be practical, so not too long but not too short, and definitely no boobs!

Has anyone bought anything recently that would fit the bill? Budget is probably up to £50. I just don't know where to look!

I've just discovered Popsy and would definitely recommend!

I love wearing Fat Face dresses as they are loose, comfy and have pockets which fit a whiteboard marker, marking pen and remote in ... They do the same dress in a load of different patterns and colours.

Go to eBay and put in a search for shops you like and your size and have it saved
It's a genius way of shopping

Popsy dresses are all under £50, wash well, really comfy, good patterns, florals, stripes and subject themed ones for teachers and they have pockets!
Loads of teachers choose them as they're fun and practical.

I was also going to post about the company but couldn't remember their name HmmConfusedGrin

I have the crab sticks dress. I would have never thought of that but always will now?

anothernamedoesntsmellsosweet · 19/05/2022 19:31

I have just bought some dresses in the similar style to mountain warehouse (that I also have) from new look.

SpeedofaSloth · 19/05/2022 19:32

Look for the above brands on Vinted 🙂

Wavingnotdrown1ng · 19/05/2022 19:40

Louise’s Closet sell Seasalt, Fat Face and the White Company dresses for discounted prices - they have pockets too.

bigfloweryteapot · 19/05/2022 19:41

I love Popsy dresses, I have about 6 and just work my way through them. They work with boots, docs, pumps and sandals and are so easy to wash and hang up again.

anothernamedoesntsmellsosweet · 19/05/2022 19:43

I can't believe I haven't seen poppy dresses before. Now I want all of them

anothernamedoesntsmellsosweet · 19/05/2022 19:45

*Popsy

twinmum2007 · 19/05/2022 19:58

My teacher friend swears by Popsy. Mistral also good I think.

redteapot · 19/05/2022 20:00

I have a couple of dresses from Joanie that are great - comfy, lovely fit, range of designs and pockets!

Shinyandnew1 · 19/05/2022 20:04

Fat Face and White Stuff

excelledyourself · 19/05/2022 20:04

Those mentioning Matalan, what is their sizing like? Have seen a few items I'd like to order, but not sure whether to go for size 8 or 10 as it varies for me from shop to shop.

Thanks.

Tulipvase · 19/05/2022 20:08

I second the Fatface Simone dress. Put a long sleeve top under for winter. Think they do 2 lengths too.

Magicandspiders · 19/05/2022 20:12

Love Joanie (they have pockets!) Or Popsy

babycornforteaplease · 19/05/2022 20:27

Thanks to this thread I am now even poorer due to a small splurge on the mountain warehouse dresses... Grin

Whattodo121 · 19/05/2022 20:35

Sorry @anothernamedoesntsmellsosweet you will see crabsticks for evermore now 🤣 am going to check out Popsy now…

GuybrushT · 19/05/2022 20:47

I think I have teacher dresses from most of these shops! But my favourite is the Fatface Nina dress - I have 3 in different patterns.

Eightiesfan · 19/05/2022 20:56

I second the vote for Lady Vintage, really flattering and cotton rich so wash beautifully,. In summer I wear with sandals and winter with a cardigan, leggings and my Uggs.

i have to disagree about Popsy, I bought a few dresses, but found they bobbled very easily, I think it was where my cardigan was buttoned. The patterns are lovely but I didn’t think the polyester material was very nice. I chucked the lot after only wearing them a few times as they looked so scruffy.

I also love Fatface and Joe Browns.

Pliudev · 19/05/2022 22:56

Seasalt have a Jersey dress with short sleeves and, I think, a sort of sea urchin design. It's just below the knee and costs £55. I've got a similar one from last year, it doesn't crease, still looks good and washes well.

Emmelina · 19/05/2022 22:58

My wardrobe is mostly white stuff tunics and dresses from Yumi and Popsy, worn over coloured snag tights.

discoohno · 19/05/2022 23:02

The Emmanuelle dress from Hush. You can get it on eBay too.

www.hush-uk.com/emanuelle-dress-leafy-floral-blue/004744-3779.html

i have it in some darker patterns and wear with tights and boots in the winter and a thermal later. The one linked is more summery.

Laura1978 · 20/05/2022 07:47

Another vote for Popsy! The kids love them too but they bobble badly unfortunately. This doesn’t stop me spending all my wages on them however 🤣
