Hi all, I need a bit of inspiration! I'm looking for some work dresses as I only have 3 that I currently fit into. I like quite flowery formal dresses, and am an autumn so suite purples, oranges, dark reds and greens etc. They need to be practical, so not too long but not too short, and definitely no boobs!

Has anyone bought anything recently that would fit the bill? Budget is probably up to £50. I just don't know where to look!

Fatface have a decent sale on dresses of that description at the moment.

Get yourself to Primark. I’ve been there today & they have some lovely work appropriate dresses, skirts, tops & suits that will not break the bank.

Thanks all! I think I'm having a bit of a spending spree on payday! 😁

Another teacher here and another vote for Seasalt. They have lots and lots of beautiful floral dresses - they wash well and I have some that still look like new after years of wear.

BanjoVio · 20/05/2022 21:59

My favourite dresses are from the Hobbs sale, all under £50 (down from £99+). They fit so nicely and will last years. I've just had a look and there are some gorgeous ones there now.

crawling to speak to people under tables😃😃

I’m hoping this PP is teaching little ones and not A level 😆

I bought a few jersey dresses from boden. They weren’t cheap (even with a discount code) however they wash so well and have pockets!

Wavingnotdrown1ng · 22/05/2022 15:16

And as a recent S&B thread attests, M and S have upped their game on the dress front and have a good choice in fabrics that won’t make you sweat like a garden sprinkler, after years of polyester/ viscose vileness. Also second Joe Browns - all my dresses from last summer were from there and they’re as good as new this.

Wow! I would never have thought to look on the Mountain Warehouse website but they have some lovely dresses.
What are the sizes like? Do they come up big or small? Also are they any good if you are short?

anothernamedoesntsmellsosweet · 26/05/2022 20:19

@TeaChocKitKat I am 5ft 4 and a 14/16 and buy a medium/14. They end up just below my knee. I just bought 3 dresses in mountain warehouse on Sunday. Good quality material and no need to iron.

Popsy dresses are all under £50, wash well, really comfy, good patterns, florals, stripes and subject themed ones for teachers and they have pockets!
Loads of teachers choose them as they're fun and practical.

Saw the thread and immediately thought of Popsy! They are very popular at the school I work at

Roman online, Apricot, Amazon, F&F, Mountain Warehouse, l also got two lovely summer dresses from Pour Moi recently, they have a sale on.

babycornforteaplease · 26/05/2022 20:38

Off the back of this thread, my mountain warehouse dresses arrived earlier this week, wore the first (!) one today, nothing but compliments!

So comfy, material seems good, fit good, so happy!!! Let's see how the second one goes down tomorrow Grin

babycornforteaplease · 26/05/2022 20:39

*fit good = the fit is good.

Whattodo121 · 26/05/2022 22:16

I love that my mountain warehouse recommendations have gone down well! I’ll be wearing one tomorrow! (Not the crab stick one though, that has been put firmly back in the wardrobe 🤣🤣)

babycornforteaplease · 27/05/2022 18:28

@Whattodo121 thanks for the recommendation, totally loving the mountain warehouse dresses! Wore another today, love it!
