Has anyone else seen the photos from last night? Wow!! Some of the dresses this year were just incredible! The craftsmanship that went into some of the dresses is mind boggling. My favourite had to be Blake Lively's dress that morphed into a completely different look. I thought both were stunning. There were so many other gorgeous gowns as well. I wasn't blown away by Kim K in Marilyn Monroe's $4.5m dress, but I give her points for even being allowed to wear it and get into it! Apparently she lost 16lbs in 3 weeks just to fit into it - (just! - I think it was a tad tight). The one I'm struggling with that everyone else seems to love is Billie Eilish's dress. Have I completely missed something here? I really think she looks dreadful in it. But then again I don't like her style in general and always think she looks bored as hell and half dead. Have I just missed seeing something with this look?

It does-she always looks most elegant- but I still do not think it is "Gilded Age". Course nobody stuck to the theme. Cara DeLevigne appears to think gilded age means painting her chest gold. ( Sorry, I cba to do photos).

Also i don't really understand the theme "the gilded age". What does it refer to? Someone up thread said Billy Eilish's dress fit the theme even though i thought she looked absolute wedged into that dreary pastel number.

Nicely portrayed by the recent TV series with Christine Baranski and Carrie Coon. So huge bustles, ridiculous hats, and outrageous costumes. Not understated elegance.

Hugh Jackman and his wife were dressed by Tom Ford. I thought her dress was gorgeous.

Strange how no one understood what gilded age meant. Or even looked it up, Its not something that happened in Europe but in the states.

But you're always allowed to be creative with the theme for the Met. It's like Taskmaster - if you decide that Gilded Age means you want to paint yourself in gold paint then as long as you commit to it that's fine.

JJ was just in a series called Dr Death which is based on a true story. He was in Little Fires anywhere which was THE series of lockdown (for me anyway 😂). He was previously in The Affair and left before it completely went to the dogs

Of all the DC cast (besides Michelle Williams) I'd say he's constantly working and in decent projects too.

I actually really liked Gigi Hadids outfit .
Lenny Kravitz just makes me weak at the knees.

Agree with a PP that Stormzy’s outfit looked great!

Can I just point out that the whole thing is carefully choreagraphed. Once they get inside there are no phones/ cameras and they all change into something more comfortable.

Stormzy looked great! I also liked Riz Ahmed's outfit, political as ever.

For whoever asked, Joshua Jackson likely came along with his wife Jodie Turner-Smith rather than being an invitee himself.

I loved the second part of Blake Lively's outfit, I wasn't keen on the first part. I think the post transformation dress was my favourite of the evening. I did love 'The Statue of Liberty' theme that she went for, very clever.

Kim Kardashian did underwhelm in the Marilyn dress for me. Kim is a beautiful woman, like her or not. The dress is a stunning dress but the two together was just a bit meh. In part, I feel Kim's hair colour didn't help, blonde washes her out and it was all a bit bland and blend in to the background. I think it would have looked much better with her natural hair colour.

Not sure we should be applauding influential women bragging about crash dieting to lose 16 pounds in 3 weeks tbh... a really shitty thing for her to do in her position as someone lots of women look up to. And many do, even if I'm not personally one of them. She could have lost that weight and not mentioned how she did it / that she did it at all, rather than peddling dangerously fast crash dieting especially as someone slim to start with.

I thought she was Glenn Close for a few minutes and was really confused as to why she was his guest!

I think unfortunately a billionaire with huge press presence at the moment would be 'higher' on the guest list (so sort of lead guest of a pair) than an entertainment icon like Glenn - which is one of the things that's so wrong about the social hierarchy at the Met Gala!

I clearly live in a box. I knew nothing about the Met Gala, and Michelle Yeo is the only person I recognise so far. However I've loved reading this, all your commentary, and then nipping off to see photos of it all. A new joy, so thank you all.
