Anne looks like she’s preparing to unblock a drain in those gloves.

Anne looks like she’s preparing to unblock a drain in those gloves.

My guess is that she'd be completely up for that.

@gluenotsoup
"Did she get yesterday's and today's hats mixed up ?"
By gum you've got it ! Smile
The lilac hat would pick up the lilac purple in yesterday's coat and the green hat would match perfectly with the green and lilac coat today.

Chewbecca · 12/05/2022 21:03

I think it is Anne’s outfit for Will & Kate’s wedding which she has reworn before to the races.

gluenotsoup · 12/05/2022 21:04

This is the outfit from Zara’s wedding

Yes, Anne first wore today's lilac & green ensemble at K&W’s wedding in 2011, and we’ve seen it several times since then. Anne does usually wear it with a little purple hat, but like @gluenotsoup I think she’s worn the hats on the wrong days.
I watched the film Spencer recently, and there’s a subplot about Diana’s clothes, how she rebelled about what to wear and when. If it’s based on fact, the clothes are labelled for each event, which does actually make sense, so perhaps a hat lost its label yesterday. I do hope a naughty grandchild wasn’t involved! Wink Wink

According to Tatler, this spring's style inspiration is Fergie! I'm not so sure about that but it's fun to revisit her 80s and early 90s ensembles.

justasking111 · 13/05/2022 08:38

I enjoy seeing spring summer clothes again. Fergie is a hit and miss fashion wise but her hair was fabulous

gingercat02 · 13/05/2022 09:52

Fergie was truly an 80's fashion victim icon. The photo of her as a milkmaid and Diana in a perfectly tailored suit is hilarious. She did have some fabulous hair dos and evening wear

Yes, her hair was utterly glorious.

Oh I can finally post from my ipad again!! Kinda wish I had kept my username now...oh well never mind! So much to comment on as I’ve missed a lot, will have to go back and look over it all. But I actually liked Catherine’s (I’ve decided to use her name from now on as I don’t think she was ever called Kate by anyone other than the press IIRC) coat dress that she wore on the visit to Manchester. Wasn’t William’s speech lovely as well? Heartfelt, sincere and quite moving, and would have resonated with each of the bereaved individuals I think.

No fashion, just a blouse and cardi, but Her Maj looking very jolly at Windsor horse show

NiqueNique · 13/05/2022 13:05

Yes she looks very happy and relaxed.

KillingMeDeftly · 13/05/2022 14:10

@NiqueNique William calls her Kate in their engagement interview so I suspect Catherine is only for formal occasions!

KillingMeDeftly · 13/05/2022 14:13

HMQ definitely in her happy place there!

NiqueNique · 13/05/2022 15:35

@KillingMeDeftly ah fair enough! Easier for me as Kate feels much more natural to say. Maybe she took it up (or others started using it) at university as I’m sure people who knew her when she was growing up said that at school/sixth form she was always known as Catherine. That would also mean that Wills (haha I’ve gone fully into ‘back in the day’ language now!) would have got to know her as Kate.

Back to Kate it is!

MotherofPearl · 13/05/2022 21:19

I'm afraid I really can't get on board with Fergie as a style icon. If that fashion is being revived, count me out!

Can't resist posting these photos of Max visiting some Scouts. I love her in sunglasses!

Confession time. I camped in the Mall the night before Andrew and Sarah married.

Whilst one can’t help marvel at her joie de vivre it’s going too far out on the limb of credibility to call her a style icon.

susiebluebell · 13/05/2022 22:21

Joie de vivre is a very nice way to put it 😊

I was only a child at the time but I preferred her wedding dress to Diana's. Fergie was actually very attractive, she just suffered in comparison to the glamorous Diana.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 14/05/2022 12:04

Had a very bizarre dream last night about HMQ. I dreamt that I was Angela's new assistant & was advising HMQ on a new lipstick shade.
HMQ was particularly drawn to a brick red shade but it didn't suit her & I told her 🫣
She thanked me for being honest & asked me what I would suggest & said that she liked my lipstick.
I wear Benefit Go Go tint with Maybelline Cherry Baby Lips on top & HMQ asked me if she could borrow them! So I applied it for her & then we went out for a cream tea 😂

AdaColeman · 14/05/2022 12:05

One thing you can say about Fergie, is that her outfits are never dull, and occasionally she pulls it all together and looks fantastic.
Her ensemble for Harry & Meg’s wedding, the dark blue suit with wing reveres and cuffs in pale pink, was perfect, including the hat with a chic eye veil.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 14/05/2022 12:11

@AdaColeman Fergie also looked great at Eugenie's wedding in her green ensemble.
Fergie also suits big hats!

I will freely admit I owned and wore a selection of Fergie Bows 😆
I see on the news that William has visited Deborah James to confer her damehood, I think this might be my favourite thing he has ever done! Well done William for making it happen 🥰
