I had a look at the Karen Timson site yesterday, am definitely going to order that sample set. Really like the sound of Hera and Hermia.

I also want to try the sample set from Papillon (think they might have one called Hera too?). I’m a bit scared of Salome though, the reviews I’ve seen say that one is properly skanky!

I will succumb and get Gallivant Gdańsk soon too, I just need to spread these purchases out a bit or I get the side eye from DP at all the parcels arriving in quick succession 😂

I'm flipping gutted that post-Brexit I can't access most of these niche fragrance houses I have to get them delivered to my UK family then collect when I'm there. Customs stuff is such a pain, and Ireland's rules on importing perfume are very strict. I have to find EU suppliers for everything now. Bloody Brexit

I saw something Sarah McCartney said, I think on the 4160s Facebook site, about the fact she is now having to turn customers away as she can't ship to mainland Europe anymore. It must be so frustrating.

I genuinely feel so sad about brexit - the promised benefits were just one big lie. It has caused so much division and trouble, and all for nothing. For less than nothing actually, as I feel sure we are materially worse off. I am extremely angry though that politicians who were deliberately and intentionally misleading are now in office and government. And they continue to misrepresent, lie and obfuscate. 😡

Tonight I am wearing Agent Provocateur.
Nothing fresh citrus or floral will remove the odour of todays client from my sinuses.
Tomorrow I will hit the ground running and figure a way to avoid a repeat incident.

Four weeks ago everything smelt and tasted of salt and vinegar (thanks covid) today I almost wished for that again.

Here's hoping it all comes back @Judystilldreamsofhorses just don't expect it to be normal. Some smells are so over powering and others I miss completely. Thank goodness I am not a nose.

That's awful @Judystilldreamsofhorses Three months is absolutely ages to be without two of your senses. 💐 Can your GP do anything to help? (pay me no mind if that's not helpful/you've already tried them.)

Actually DWS might actually turn into a like for me too @DramaAlpaca I was sniffing the mouillettes I'd sprayed the 4160Ts on, and the DWS one had a lovely powdery veil emanating from it. Very ethereal. Must try on skin.

SOTD was M&S Plum Blossom again, I felt like wearing a nice uncomplicated floral today. Good longevity, this one.

SOTE my usual tests of 4160 samples. SSOTPE (finally, I've been saving this one) and London 1969. Literally just sprayed so will report back.

The last of my 4160Ts samples were disappointing, sadly.

Another Kiss by the Fireside. I had high hopes for this, but I only got a fairly uncomplicated, slightly sour rose with a woody note that smelled a lot like oud. This definitely smelled like a rose oud, to me, and I don't really like oud. Also, I didn't get any cinnamon - I love cinnamon, so was sorely disappointed. Similarly, no biscuit-y notes, or lavender, or leather. It's not what I think of as cosy. Will test on skin to see if it behaves differently. I don't think this one is for me though.

Now for the shocker! Amberama. Brace yourself... I absolutely did not like it. 😲 I nearly cried. As soon as I sprayed the mouillette and sniffed I felt the beginnings of a migraine. I had to throw away the paper and wash my hands. What's more, I could only smell a sharp rubbing alcohol and burning hair smell. I was so surprised! This has never happened to me with an amber before, and I actually thought there wasn't an amber out there I didn't like. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to try it out on skin, but maybe I should to see if I have the same reaction. 😞

SOTD JM Wild Bluebell. I think it is just a waiting game in terms of senses returning, but one of my friends got a kit of essential oils to “train” her nose. It looks like Sarah McCartney might have been involved actually. I had clove and eucalyptus in the house anyway, and lavender (which I am subbing for their rose) so now I just need a citrus one.

@PestorPeston i get weird wafts of fish, when there is no fish. My DP doesn’t eat any fish, so I never have it while he is here (easier to cook one meal regardless of who is cooking) and he is bemused by my constantly asking about fishy smells.

Amberama, really?! Oh no! It sounded so good on paper, how disappointing. I definitely wouldn't try it on skin @FestivelyScent if the mouillette gave you the start of a migraine. What a shame.

I'm probably going to get my fragranced arse handed to me, but I don't think SSOTPE is all that It's doing absolutely nothing for me, sexy it ain't. I tend not to be over-fond of skin scents, maybe that's why. London 1969 doesn't like my skin either.

I scrubbed off L69, changed houses and spritzed on a sample of Frederic Malle Iris Poudre. Now this is lovely, Chanel No 19 meets Infusion d'Iris... just beautiful. Thing is, do I really need another iris fragrance in my collection? Hmm.... possibly.

@DramaAlpaca oh I agree SSOTPE isn't sexy (I think it's comforting) and I do wish it was stronger. I tend to wear it if I'm going to be in an enclosed space with others.

@FestivelyScent sorry you didn't like amberama. I wonder if it's the raspberry note you reacted to?
