I love Valentina Assoluto. One of my faves. It's such a pretty bottle too. Not sure if it might have been discontinued though as k bought it a long time ago.

I also have Valentino Donna but I don't wear it much. I like it but don't love it.

FestivelyScent · 19/05/2022 23:35

@CambsAlways I think there were a couple of Valentinos on the FeelUnique pick and mix sample thingy. I'm not familiar with Valentino myself, but you get to pick 5 samples per month and just pay postage. Not sure if they are the Valentinos you are after though.

FestivelyScent · 19/05/2022 23:44

I'm still feeling nauseous from my migraine so will leave the 4160Ts samples until tomorrow - I don't want to associate their perfumes with sickness!

Getting my new medicine for these migraines is proving a headache in itself; I've been going back and forth to the GP trying to settle the prescription and have an appointment on Saturday to speak with a 'senior' GP. 🤞

SOTN is the powdery, comforting embrace of Ambre Orient.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/05/2022 23:45

SOTD the first 2022 outing for Heeley Sel Marin.

Lysianthus · 19/05/2022 23:54

Very late to this lovely party! I'm a Chanel 5 lover.
HOWEVER I love Eau Dynamisante EDT and body lotion (Clarins) as my go to holiday scent because it's lovely and it also works v well as anti mosquito! Never buy it anywhere other than at duty free because the 2xfull size is £26 which is a real bargain.

FestivelyScent · 20/05/2022 00:06

Welcome to the thread @Lysianthus 👋😊

Can I admit to not remembering what Chanel 5 smells like. I think I would love it, as Fragrantica describes it as having powdery sandalwood notes. I really must smell it, especially as it's probably the only classic chanel on display at their Boots counter round here atm (and this is a large town!) Actually, every time someone mentions No 5 I say that, and then forget. 😂

Lysianthus · 20/05/2022 08:04

@FestivelyScent I hope you sort out your migraines soon Flowers

DramaAlpaca · 20/05/2022 10:19

@FestivelyScent hope your migraine is better and you get to try out your samples. 4160 are very good at sending samples in a similar style to the ones you buy - Dancing With Strangers is gorgeous and I will probably buy a bottle, and I'd love to try Oakmossery, will get a sample next time.

You've probably already tried them, but I wonder if Libre or Mon Guerlain would scratch your lavender itch? They both have just enough lavender for me, especially Libre which Fragrantica calls an 'amber fougere'.

SOTD is Mon Guerlain.

ChiswickFlo · 20/05/2022 12:47

Sotd Estee lauder modern muse nuit

Hope you feel better @FestivelyScent ?
Looking forward to your reviews!

Still waiting for results. Sigh.

SOTD Floral Street Electric Rhubarb. To me it's more red berries than tart rhubarb, too sweet for me. That's the sample finished off, won't be getting a bottle.

Going out later, will probably wear Armani Si.

Hope the migraine has gone off now, @FestivelyScent .

FestivelyScent · 20/05/2022 14:56

My migraine is better after a night's rest, thank you all. 😊

OMG (and I never say that) - 4160Ts Shazam! If it smells as good on me as it does on the mouillette this is definitely going to be a full bottle purchase. It smells exactly like a spice market! Exactly! It reminds of shopping for ingredients in the summer with my wonderful mum and has brought a huge, huge smile to my face. I can smell pepper and cedar, saffron and incense, orange and the smoothness of clove, with something warm tying it all together in the base (amber and patchouli?). I'm not quite at the base yet as I only sprayed it a while ago, but this really is amazing. ❤️

My only reservation is that it is dissappearing rather quickly from the paper, so I'll have to test gauge its longevity on me (obvs) before committing.

But, so far, it's love at first at sniff! 😊

FestivelyScent · 20/05/2022 15:07

Oooh, how funny @DramaAlpaca I was looking at reviews for Mon Guerlain the other day. I do love lavender in the summer and I've not smelled either that or Libre and they are both available at my local Boots, I think - will sniff next time I pass by that way. Thank you! 😊

FestivelyScent · 20/05/2022 15:19

Hope your tests results arrive speedily @ChiswickFlo Waiting for news and results is always a worrying/frustrating time for me, even if it's only for 'routine' bloods/scans, so I really sympathise.

I haven't tried my Shazam sample yet, might do tomorrow. It's more spicy than I normally like but you lot rave about it, so I must give it a go!

@CambsAlways I've got a couple of Valentinos, will re-sniff and report back. IIRC I liked one but not the other.

Hello to @Lysianthus. I'm a Chanel No 19 girl myself, that and Cristalle/Cristalle Eau Verte. I seem to like the fresher Chanels.

CambsAlways · 20/05/2022 16:46

SOTD has been Samsara. I have been yawning non-stop all evening, so I'm glad it's the weekend tomorrow as I'm absolutely exhausted. 😴

Night all. 😊

RewildingAmbridge · 20/05/2022 23:06

Help needed, birthday coming up and I want some new perfume. I tend to go with light and a bit floral day to day/work but recently picked up something by Yardley at duty free which is very much serving this purpose at the moment, previously I was using Glossier you. So I'm looking for something warmer, richer, woodier for going out, evenings or just when I want to smell especially good.
I'm down to my last few squirts of J'Adore Infinissime and I love it, it really suits my skin, I get lots of compliments etc when I wear it, but do become desensitised to scents quite quickly so I'm trying to decide whether to just go for another bottle of that, or whether to try something different. I'm fine with a little floral, but want something amber/sandal woody without smelling like I've rolled around in a branch of lush. I do like Chanel 5 and have a bottle for very special occasions but find it too much for relatively regular use. Back in the day I liked lady million and D&,G the one, but both are a bit sweet for me now. Evidently I don't like anything too sweet or fruity anymore.
Any suggestions?

DramaAlpaca · 21/05/2022 01:53

@RewildingAmbridge have you tried Givenchy L'Interdit Rouge? I think it might fit the bill. It's woody, ambery and a bit spicy, great for evenings. I really love it, and I like J'Adore too (though haven't tried Infinissime).

SOTE Shazam on one wrist, Captured By Candlelight on t'other to test. CBC is a definite no for me. As for Shazam, I know it gets so much love on here but it's a no as well. It's pleasant enough but it's just not my thing, I don't think it suits my skin.

@CambsAlways my two Valentinos are Donna Born in Roma, which to my nose is a pleasant but unexciting fresh woody floral; and Donna which has a sharp note in it that I can't work out but I know I don't like Confused

CambsAlways · 21/05/2022 06:37

DramaAlpaca thanks for that it was the Valentino born in Roma I was interested in! Also there is one of them that has a strong smell of blackberries n Jasmine I’m going to Google that one to find out which one it is!
