I know we should wear what we want no matter what our age is, but humour me - what's the max age to wear this dress?

I’d wear that and I’m 46…however that doesn’t mean it would be the right age..

PedestalFan · 23/04/2022 09:32

I really want it too.

Twelve

Gizlotsmum · 23/04/2022 09:32

I am currently wearing a denim dungaree dress… again probably not age appropriate but I like it

PAFMO · 23/04/2022 09:34

It's less to do with age and more to do with context.
It's the sort of dress Claudia Winkelman would wear on Strictly. Or Gemma Coleman on Dr. Who. Or my late grandmother for her day trips Or a primary school child for a posh event.
Me, going down the shops on a Saturday morning not so much.

I think that's right. I'd wear it with black opaque tights and ballet flats. I'm 62.

mistermagpie · 23/04/2022 09:51

I'm nearly 42 and I wouldn't wear that because it's not my style at all, not because of my age.

My daughter (age 2) actually has a couple of dresses like that, so I know what you mean but I think it depends on your own style.

ditavonteesed · 23/04/2022 09:55

I'm 47 and I'd wear it

DurhamDurham · 23/04/2022 09:56

It wouldn't suit me but would look nice for other black tights and brogues or ankle boots. It is v similar to a dress my 3 year old granddaughter has but that's more to do with the pattern than the style I think.

CorsicaDreaming · 23/04/2022 10:01

Any age. I can see my MiL wearing it until very recently with knee length boots. And she's in her eighties... She does have very good legs and is an impressive dresser!

I'd wear it but with opaque tights and ankle boots. Probably for off work not at work though.

It's such a formal neat shirt type top half, you can get away with the shorter skirt I think.

Hallyup89 · 23/04/2022 10:02

About 7.

5128gap · 23/04/2022 10:03

Om 52 and I'd wear it if i liked it, which i don't, but thats not to do with how old i am. I wear loads of supposedly 'age inappropriate' clothes. To me, these decisions are not about age, they're about body shape and your overall look. There's a vast difference between the styles of women of all ages, and if an item is 'you' you can wear it.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/04/2022 10:17

With 60 deniers and boots - literally any. Maybe does rely a little on being relatively straight up and down - no sure it would sit right over bigger boobs.

poetryandwine · 23/04/2022 10:29

Properly styled, there is no inherent age limit. PPs have had good ideas and it could look wonderful on any age.

But I instinctively cast my eye down the legs looking for ankle socks, because it is a dead ringer for my own favourite dress from Year 4.

SmellyWellyWoo · 23/04/2022 10:34

It's not to my personal taste but I wouldn't blink an eye lid at someone of any age wearing it.

Mumdiva99 · 23/04/2022 10:37

Any age of you have the style and right shape. Enjoy dressing to please yourself.

gogohm · 23/04/2022 10:40

I'd wear that at 48, but I like that style

user72940382 · 23/04/2022 10:45

85-90ish

I like it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/04/2022 10:54

Ridiculous question. Hobbs always have dresses like that, and I'd guess their demographic is about 40 to 70? Equally, it's the sort of thing Topshop would have done.

So the answer to this very silly question = aged 2 to age 200, if the wearer likes it.

WouldBeGood · 23/04/2022 10:56

52 and I’d wear it with opaques and chunky boots

ABearyNiceDay · 23/04/2022 11:00

End of primary school.

CorsicaDreaming · 23/04/2022 11:01

@PedestalFan - I am more interested about why you asked the question though...

What's the backstory?

What do you think? and if it's for you, how old are you?
