What do I do with this awful overpriced haircut?!

So gutted - I treated myself to a cut & blow dry with a senior stylist for £90 (the most I've ever spent at a hairdresser) but I've come away with the worst haircut I've ever had. This pic is before and after (colour hasn't changed - just different lighting): he trimmed a couple of inches off the bottom, which was fine, but instead of the fringe I asked for, he told me my thin hair wouldn't take it and instead cut random short choppy bits at the front Shock It all looked reasonable enough after a fancy blow-dry but a total mess in the cold light of day! Any advice on how to deal with this? I'm torn between just leaving it to grow or going back to complain but risking it being made worse. What could even be done now that the front bits are so short and a fringe is apparently out of the question? Help!

Have you tried moving the parting?

ENoeuf · 14/04/2022 22:05

That’s awful, like a weird mullet or semi bob with cold feet. You poor thing - I had a mullet because it mage me laugh and that’s taking forever to grow back to one length now I’ve stopped finding it funny.

hairdisaster22 · 14/04/2022 22:14

Haha @ENoeuf, I think I'd prefer that - at least you know where you stand with a mullet!

I've played around with the parting but to no avail - still looks a fright whichever way Sad

Give it a week or so to settle down. And you will get used to it. I had a similar experience some years ago and all I can tell you is that it will grow back. It’s bloody annoying, though!

ENoeuf · 14/04/2022 22:24

It’s like too much was cut at the front so it’s two hair cuts. I’d probably ring and say you’re not happy as when you style it it’s like a step.

Summerhillsquare · 14/04/2022 22:29

Go back. Or just cut the fringe in yourself. Plenty of videos online to show you how.

ENoeuf · 14/04/2022 22:31

Omg don’t cut a fringe! You will look like this, but prettier!

Ok, don't panic. It's honestly not horrible, and I highly recommend you wait several days for it to settle, and then you can decide what you want to have done.

Aquamarine1029 · 14/04/2022 22:36

Personally, I think you should go to someone and have a proper curtain fringe done, not a blunt fringe.

Don't do this. Just don't.
Minoloso · 14/04/2022 22:40

I really like it, it looks more tousled and a bit french.

SpottyPantsNextDoor · 14/04/2022 22:41

I like it. It looks like an on-trend haircut, a la 1970…my 18 year old DD has thins kind of cut as do some of her friends.

mocktail · 14/04/2022 22:44

It doesn't look disastrous to me. I'm not convinced it's too thin for a fringe - I reckon go back and ask for a fringe, which should fix the problem. If you've paid that much the least they can do is fix it for you.

OverByYer · 14/04/2022 22:44

I think it looks nice. Give it a few days and see how you get on

Marcipex · 14/04/2022 22:45

I don’t think you should cut a fringe, even though I always do cut my own.

Go back and say that you’re not happy, and see what they suggest.

HalloVegBot · 14/04/2022 22:46

I think it looks lovely!

Alwayswonderedwhy · 14/04/2022 22:47

I think it looks nice.

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 14/04/2022 22:49

Can you use straighteners to kind of flick it away from
Your face a bit? Farrah fawcett style but not?

Neverreturntoathread · 14/04/2022 22:50

I think it looks nice, but I like layers round the face. If you want a fringe tho, go back and insist on a fringe. It looks thick enough for a fringe to me 🤷‍♀️

TheChild · 14/04/2022 22:50

The haircut isn't great, however I just felt the need to tell you your hair colour is beautiful! I'm so bloody jealous, I always wished I had natural dark brown hair 😔

HemanOrSheRa · 14/04/2022 22:57

DO NOT CUT IT! It looks like he's tried to do curtain bangs but not blended it quite enough around your face so it looks like two different haircuts. Have a google of curtain bangs/fringe. It's really not that bad.

Georgeskitchen · 14/04/2022 22:58

90 quid? I think they saw you coming!! For that amount of money I would expect the hairstylist to respect my wishes. Go back and say you're not happy with it

Dunnoburt · 14/04/2022 22:59

Meh, I think it looks nice (genuinely) .. But I've not had my hair cut since the first lockdown 🤦‍♀️

PepperamiPrincess · 14/04/2022 23:00

Well sorry OP it looks really greasy on these pics. I also think you would benefit from a shorter loo to add volume.

However, give it a week and then do a good blow out, I am shite with a round brush so I use this, www.lookfantastic.com/babyliss-big-hair-50mm/12278460.html?affil=thggpsad&switchcurrency=GBP&shippingcountry=GB&thg_ppc_campaign=71700000088329921&adtype=&product_id=12278460&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjN-SBhCkARIsACsrBz6qlglciyMfHpJLanrbpqLqneNNKL3uonc5Gv7dV-r4_MrjBQQcq8QaAm5vEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds to finish off my hair

hairdisaster22 · 14/04/2022 23:02

Thanks everyone - agree I should let it settle for a couple of days and see how I feel. I'm inclined to complain just because I'm so incensed at having paid so much. Definitely not going to attempt to cut it myself! I'll give the straighteners a go (perhaps with the help of YouTube) - that's a good idea.

Also glad not everyone thinks it's a total disaster, even if I'm not sure I agree Grin Thanks @TheChild for that lovely compliment - the grey is creeping in fast but the brown is natural for now!
