I bloody love dungarees and treated myself to these yesterday from joules.
I’m 5’7 and size 14.
Are these dungarees too short?? Do I look ridiculous? They are so comfy and I love them… but equally don’t want to look terrible!

You look like a childrens entertainer off the tele

TinaYouFatLard · 06/04/2022 16:53

I love dungarees but really think they look better with a plain, neutral coloured t-shirt and trainers. The primary colours and boots make you look a lot like a CBeebies presenter.

Sandra2010 · 06/04/2022 17:08

God I wish I had the figure for dungarees. Sadly not. However, you look great.

Iwonder08 · 06/04/2022 17:14

Different top and shoes. Dungarees are fine. Top is too colourful, you are not 5..and pink shoe laces with the dungarees.. A bit too much

DurhamDurham · 06/04/2022 17:15

As long as you like them and feel happy wearing them that's ALL that matters.

However since you've asked for opinions I'll give mine. I think they look a tad small and aren't the most flattering fit. If they were bigger, looser they would look a lot better.
I am getting Childrens Entertainer vibes looking at your photos, especially with the boots and laces combo.

FrMaguire · 06/04/2022 17:23

Being picky, because you asked, but I also think they look a bit undersized...not sure if they're a small fit or if they're too short or a bit of both. I also don't think the boots go well with them. Definitely not the worst, but I'd either try a size up or longer length I think

bagsforlife20 · 06/04/2022 17:24

The shoes don’t work at all sorry, maybe someone else can pull them off but this specific combination is not it. Cuts you off at a weird point.

Repetitivebeats · 06/04/2022 17:25

They're not ridiculous and they don't look terrible...but...I do think they make your legs look quite short. It's the combination of the waist sitting low and the legs being rolled up. As others have said, trainers or sandals might work better to balance that out.

Having said that, if I saw you out and about wearing this, especially with some confidence, then I wouldn't bat an eyelid. So if you love them, and feel good in them, then keep them.

thesnaleandthewhail · 06/04/2022 17:25

I don't think this particular pair are very flattering, sorry to say, but in all honesty if you feel good in them that is ALL that matters

bagsforlife20 · 06/04/2022 17:35

I’ve properly looked at your pic for a minute and the issues are:

  • the dungarees are tight around your hips/thighs and loose on your lower leg. Should be the other way around. Not a tapered enough fit.
  • the fit and the stitching make it seem like you have a dropped crotch area.
  • the ankle cuff is too wide
  • the colour of the dungarees is unflattering, no shading/depth. Looks blocky
  • the docs are patent, makes your feel look wider by reflecting the light. Pink laces draw attention to it.

So all in all, the dungarees make you look compressed. Your legs look wider and shorter - personally I am short so avoid wearing boots with trouser lengths like that as the same happens with me. I go for sandals (flat or heeled), trainers or low docs.

Mummyoflittledragon · 06/04/2022 18:01

I don’t think they flatter your shape. And you have a nice shape. Sorry.

Ratatoo · 06/04/2022 18:02

They look stretched too tight across your middle. I would size up

KimikosNightmare · 06/04/2022 18:05

They're not my thing but they look very nice on you and are a gazillion times nicer than jeans.

The boots are great- much nicer than trainers would be.

hattie43 · 06/04/2022 18:05

Love them they look great .

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/04/2022 18:08

You love them and that's all that really matters. Having said that, for me, it's not the dungarees that are the problem - it's the boots and the top. Have you tried them with a plain top and trainers?

Iamkmackered1979 · 06/04/2022 18:15

I like it, if you feel comfy and happy that’s all that matters I couldn’t get away with them but I think you look great

Titsflyingsouth · 06/04/2022 18:21

You look awesome!

PeoniesInJune · 06/04/2022 18:30

I love them!

Longingforatikihut · 06/04/2022 18:39

Love them. I'd pair them with funky socks and let myself feel like wizadora.

NobblyBob · 06/04/2022 19:27

Well fuck me it's Gok Wan
ArtVandalay · 06/04/2022 20:59

Yes, as others have said - the boots render the whole look clownish.

A plain top, trainers and a size up would do the trick.

superdupertruper · 06/04/2022 21:11

I think they look bloody great. Pair them with Birkenstocks in the summer. You rock!!!!!

SpringsSprung · 06/04/2022 21:44

It's a Nope from me 👎 I think they only suit stick thin little women (which I'm most certainly not, btw!) otherwise they can make us look very childlike.

Genuinely no offence intended

dontgobaconmyheart · 06/04/2022 21:48

I don't think it's that they look at all bad, just that the fit is unusual.

Are you quite tall OP? The drop waist sits quite low, I don't know if it's just a deliberate style of the dungarees but it makes it seem like they need to sit much higher on the body really, and the leg length be longer for a best fit that doesn't shorten the legs.. There are no hard and fast rules though, just an observation.

I can imagine them looking nice with a pair of birkenstocks or chunky sandals.

CambsAlways · 06/04/2022 21:54

I think you look like a children’s presenter sorry !
