I bloody love dungarees and treated myself to these yesterday from joules.
I’m 5’7 and size 14.
Are these dungarees too short?? Do I look ridiculous? They are so comfy and I love them… but equally don’t want to look terrible!

Fashion is too personal to bother with what other people think! But they are lovely, and I want some. Where are they from?

Rupertpenrysmistress · 06/04/2022 15:37

Nope they really suit you. They are keeper's. Enjoy.

SirVixofVixHall · 06/04/2022 15:44

I think you look fab op.

mumda · 06/04/2022 15:44

Can you bend over in them?
Yes. They're fine.
Not really. They're not fine.

KirstenBlest · 06/04/2022 15:49

I love dungarees and wear them a lot but the whole outfit doesn't do it for me, sorry.

It might be the angle it's taken at that's not flattering.

I'd swap the to for a pink one to match the laces or better still ditch the pink laces.

If they are comfortable, you will wear them so that's good but I'd go for a baggier cut. Letting down the shoulder straps will drop the waistline, and that's on the low side already

TottersBlankly · 06/04/2022 15:52

Tentatively … They’re likely to shrink when washed, aren’t they? I’d be inclined to at least try the next size up. With the straps shortened a bit more and the waist adjusted. That way you’ll get a fuller, straighter leg, a more relaxed rise and flexibility with hem turning.

They’re nice dungarees but would be better if more slouchy on you.

1forAll74 · 06/04/2022 15:54

They look fine, and a nice length, I could do with some the same, to do my house painting, diy and gardening.. I would have to swap the phone, for my wall plastering tool though.

KirstenBlest · 06/04/2022 15:54

And do try sitting down and bending over in them. Pinafores and dungarees tend to ride up when you sit down

SoupDragon · 06/04/2022 15:57

I think they're too short. Too long to look deliberately short.

FannyFifer · 06/04/2022 15:58

Truthfully I don't think they are mega flattering on you, maybe a wee bit too tight. I do like them though just not sure on sizing.

Josette77 · 06/04/2022 15:59

You look cute!
Personally I prefer baggier with straight legs and coverse.

TheOrigRights · 06/04/2022 16:02

TBH, I don't think adults look good in dungarees.
I tend to regard them as workwear for warehouses or decorating.
I say this because you asked.

If I saw you out in them I wouldn't bat an eyelid - if you're happy and comfortable then that's the main thing.

Barkingmadhouse · 06/04/2022 16:07

Do not go with the boots at all - the boots make them look too short

HopefulProcrastinator · 06/04/2022 16:14

I'm jealous I look like a potato/minion if I try to wear dungarees.

They look great on you and as far as 'too short' I thought that was the current trend so if you're happy in them carry on wearing them.

lemongreentea · 06/04/2022 16:15

Do you feel good in them and are they comfy? Yes then wear them and enjoy.

I am not a fan of dungarees as they show all my side fat and my belly sticks out but thats me. Life is too short to worry about what other people think of what you are wearing.

BusterGonad · 06/04/2022 16:16

I personally do not like them, but I know a lot of MNers do. I think with the boots they look a bit clown like.

NobblyBob · 06/04/2022 16:20

They're not too short, they're not too tight, they look great. Love the laces in your DMs too. I'm short and hate that everything comes up long on me, much prefer shorter lengths that sit at the top of DM's. You've reminded me to dig out my dungarees!

microbius · 06/04/2022 16:32

They re cropped, which is ok, but for this length the leg need to be wider and straighter.

whenwilliwillibefamous · 06/04/2022 16:34

They look nice I think. And I'm saying this as a Great British Pear Shape who knows all too well how they look on the wrong figure!

This is a very slim/gorgeous model wearing them… on her they are quite short!

My old pair were from FatFace a few years ago but they don’t do the same ones anymore.

They look great!

ChipButtyCurrySauce · 06/04/2022 16:41

I wear mine like that...shorter length/rolled up with either DM ankle boots or plimsoles, depending on the weather!

Soontobe60 · 06/04/2022 16:49

The model looks different because she’s not wearing them with boots. I’d actually have them longer with boots, and shorter with trainers ‘ sandals in summer.
You look great in them!

Crocky · 06/04/2022 16:50

@moofolk

The thing with dungarees is that you can only wear them if you're happy in them.

This is why, whether you like their clothes or not, people in dungarees always look great. Because they're happy, comfy, and give zero fucks what other people think.

So ... wear them around the house and if you are happy then go outside. Everyone will tell you that tv you look like a kids TV presenter and you grin and say 'I KNOW! I love my dungarees, I'm so happy!'

I think you instinctively know if that's you or not. For years I hated dungarees but loved people who wear them. Now I wear them too. And smile.

@moofolk I love this. I have never worn dungarees but can definitely think back with very fond memories about certain items of clothing that gave me exactly this feeling. My white cowboy boots in my teens were one such. My then boyfriend was horrified and I just laughed.
underneaththeash · 06/04/2022 16:52

I'm not keen - you look like a children's TV presenter.

I'm not sure what the answer is though...I'm stuck in skinny jeans still.
