Things you are just fed up with?

I'm really really tired of everything being stretchy jersey. I used to find crisp cotton pj's everywhere but not anymore, it's nearly always thin, cheap jersey now that clings and has no shape. Just why? It's everywhere and usually touted as being 'perfectly soft', but it rarely looks decent.

Also fed up of white trainers, plimsols, slip on footwear, but I do get that these are often comfortable.

Polyester and viscose unlined dresses in lurid patterns that cost as much as lined silk Shock

@TwoBigNoisyBoys

Aww sorry to hear about your health Boys. I shan't whine when I draw mine in from now on (well, just a bit)....

G5000 · 30/03/2022 17:49

went to find a new pair of jeans. Was never a fan of skinnies, so not sad they are gone, but now the options seem to be: wide leg, wider leg, mom jeans, slouchy jeans, baggy jeans, loose jeans - what's wrong with an elegant straight leg? And all cropped. Tried some and looked like I had a massive arse and for some reason had chosen to wear too short trousers. Not flattering.

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 30/03/2022 22:10

Ah thank you @Deathraystare…hey don’t worry, it’s all relative! I still moan about the most banal things…even though I sometimes think in the grand scheme of things they really shouldn’t matter. And anyway, caring about clothes and looking nice IS important. I never realised how important, until I had my diagnosis. I suppose it’s all caught up within our sense of ‘self’. I’m still painting my eyebrows on every day, even when I’m feeling rotten. Just got to keep going!

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes Flowers I didn’t mean to bring the tone of the thread down.

And I’m still pissed off I can’t find any nice dresses 😄

Lookingoutside · 30/03/2022 23:30

Tiered dresses with puff sleeves. I’m not fucking 6!

Dresses with the back missing, there are a lot. What am I supposed to do with my tits then?

Anniissa · 31/03/2022 00:13

So many high neck dresses - anyone with bigger boobs looks bloody awful in them. Why can’t some of them have a v neck?

Clothes that haven’t been sized up properly - larger sizes are often going to have bigger boobs and bigger arms but end up with sleeves the same as smaller sizes so cut off circulation and no extra room for boobs or extra space in the body so end up with the waist being just under the boobs rather than anywhere near the actual waist.

Stupidly expensive prices for polyester and synthetic clothing.

Trousers with so little space between the crotch and waistband they give you the ultimate camel toe and don’t even come up high enough to reach halfway up your hips. I’ll take a high waist over these any time!

@Relentlessrose

Fake pockets give me the rage Puffed sleeves Off the shoulder things Anything you can't wear a bra with (most clothes at the moment it seems!)
Yes, dresses and tops that look beautiful until you realize they’re basically backless and no bra possible.
Parfait · 31/03/2022 06:51

@Flyinggeese1234

Knickers. Just actual cotton, nice design (I like bright colours), that cover the bum. Not much to ask? They’re all ‘Brazilian’ / cutaway or shorts or thongs. I just want knickers how knickers used to be.
Sloggi tai briefs are great 'proper' knicker-knocks
RampantIvy · 31/03/2022 07:24

I don't have any problems buying knickers that meet your requirements @Flyinggeese1234. I buy mine from M and S.

I also don't see many clothes in the shops that you can't wear a bra under @Relentlessrose.

@G5000 M and S have a huge selection of jeans. The Sienna Straight get recommended on here a lot.

MimosaFields · 31/03/2022 08:44

I'm fed up with clothes that are not designed with the wearer in mind. I'm quite busty so I always need a bra. There's no point in a dress that fits my breast but has an open back or shows the bra straps. I've started making my own cotton or silk blend clothes. It has cost me a few hundred pounds in college courses, machine etc but it's been worthy. Finally I can make my own clothes and alter the shop bought ones

I didn’t deceive what I’m looking for very well. M&S don’t have what I’m looking for. I have another thread on this but what I really want is Bonds to sell women’s underwear in the UK like they used to and I’ll just buy it all!

On a perpetual search for anything similar.

Flyinggeese1234 · 31/03/2022 08:59

Thanks Parfait. I had a look and have seen some in nice colours so will try.

isthatanotherbastardgrey · 31/03/2022 09:24

Wouldn't it be flipping amazing if some of the high street retailers had the nous to read this thread?

Beebumble2 · 31/03/2022 09:37

I agree with many comments re - polyester type fabrics, overwhelming flounce and frills!
I don’t discount looking at ‘old fashioned’ websites searching for basics in 100% natural materials. Sometimes Cotton Traders/ Bonmarche come up trumps and are more generous in their cuts.

Gonnagetgoing · 31/03/2022 09:38

I'm fed up with:-

  • clothes being made abroad in China, Romania etc - yes I know it is cheaper but I don't want to give my money to a sweatshop.

  • There seems to be less and less flattering cuts of items, like e.g. trousers, long sleeved tops.

  • Lots of tops are either short/cropped or baggier and longer. There doesn't seem to be the fitted/semi fitted tops around. Especially for people who don't like to show upper arms, so e.g. three quarter length or above elbow or longer.

H&M got rid of the L.O.G.G. which was a good side line for my DM and also me.

Lookingoutside · 31/03/2022 09:40

Yes it would @isthatanotherbastardgrey

I rarely buy anything on the high St anymore. Probably just knickers, the only thing not made of polyester.

I’m never buying a high street dress again.

SpaghettiNotCourgetti · 31/03/2022 09:57

@Gonnagetgoing I loved LOGG - at one point, most of my clothing seemed to come from there. Proper wool jumpers and everything!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 31/03/2022 12:12

Pattens are usually graded through all the sizes digitally. This should accommodate arms etc. If they don’t fit then it’s a fault with the style rather than an overall issue.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 31/03/2022 12:16

Cropped and see through- unless you pay Reiss prices you have to accept everything is see through and cropped
