NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 26/03/2022 02:59

I’m considering lip filler but nothing too drastic just a small amount

What should I be looking for and how much is it

I’m out of my depth

The majority of enhanced lips look like a sausage that's been manipulated into some kind of lip shape.

@BusterGonad - no you can't say that here - you'll get all the enhanced lip people complaining that you're being unkind! for what its worth I agree with you

@Rina66

Kat Farmer did an Instagram live recently (within the last week) with her cosmetic practitioner, Dr Ellie Sateei - she talked about how she felt that a small amount in lips in older ladies made a huge difference, Kat said she thought it was the best treatment she'd had - and she's had Botox, tear trough fillers and cheek fillers. I can't find the live now though to link it, which is odd, as they're normally all saved.
I don't think you can tell she's had the lip filler done, except that she has good definition, more than you might expect for her age. I think the cheek area filler is less subtle. I thought it was quite cheap considering how many areas were treated.

I've had just 0.5 ml in my lips. I have natural 'duck-y' lips, not technical term obviously (like Ruth Wilson) so wasn't worried about anything like that.

I had the Russian technique with botox so individually I'm not sure, possibly around the £300 mark, OP

SummerBluez · 28/03/2022 17:22

I had 1.1ml done and honestly I love it. My lips were the only thing I didn't like about my face now I love it all.

Ignore the naysayers Grin

privsncychsrge · 28/03/2022 18:09

@seensome

If you want it just do it, they will always start with 0.5ml so it won't be anything drastic, it's when you keep adding to it, then it can look too big. It won't last long, about six months and it will all dissolve naturally. It flipping hurts like mad though, because it doesn't last long, it's expensive and hurts I don't do it often.
It does hurt! The numbing cream doesn't take much of the edge off, unless I have a particularly low pain threshold. I think it contains lidocaine, but that doesn't seem to help at the time of the injections.

I think it's worth it. And nobody has noticed I've had it done, even family. I intend to have another 0.5 ml very soon.

privsncychsrge · 28/03/2022 18:12

@SarahBellam I can tell she's had it done there. I thought it looked natural in the 'after' Instagram live.

inmyslippers · 28/03/2022 20:49

I really like the consultant clinic on Instagram. Ran by medical professionals, they often do correction work from beauticians

Jonny1265 · 28/03/2022 21:00

@theyoungishman

Just... don't
This. I've never seen any that look natural.
thesnaleandthewhail · 28/03/2022 22:00

You can ALWAYS tell lip filler no matter how subtle. Don't bother.m unless you like looking fake. Cheek fillers will probably make more of a difference to your face and are more subtle

dumdumduuuummmmm · 28/03/2022 23:34

@LaraDeSalle

Well I actually would say it to somebody’s face so yes lip fillers always look obvious and detract from somebody’s natural good looks.
They look obvious when they look obvious. When they are well done they don't look obvious and you wouldn't know they had had them done so you think all lip fillers are like the ones that look obvious. Obviously.
dumdumduuuummmmm · 28/03/2022 23:36

@ladeda02

I researched and followed a clinic for a year before having mine.

I've built up to 3ml over 3 years this was immediately after so swelling present.

I pay £290 for 1ml and this is with fully trained qualified nurses.

I'm done now and won't have any more, only 0.5ml every 9-12 months to keep them plump, I won't go any bigger.

You are done now. But you will have 0.5ml in future. Those two statements are contradictory. Your lips look very overfilled.

lipfillerpicthrowaway · 29/03/2022 11:27

Meh, I don't mind if people who are interested in beauty can tell that I've had filler in a zoomed in unflattering photo - I had a really asymmetrical mouth before and now I can wear lipstick with confidence, so it was still worth it for me. My ex, who was extremely anti any sort of cosmetic treatment, didn't notice (and he would have made my life hell if he had!). Just make sure you go somewhere safe, OP, and don't get too much done.

EggNcressida · 29/03/2022 11:41

I was jealous when my gfs had it done they looked fab but now the filler has moved out of the lip line and it looks obvious and very ducky lips from the side, even with just a little filler.

To answer your question look for a professional who doesn't recommend you have regular top ups and suggests you get only a small amount to begin with. Prepare for some bruising, bleeding and lumps.

MrsPetty · 29/03/2022 17:51

I can highly recommend Reena at Covent Garden Dental Practice! Subtle and totally painless ❤️

SummerBluez · 29/03/2022 18:19

@dumdumduuuummmmm

So rude. She didn't ask for your opinion on her lips looking overfilled or not. Jealousy isn't a good look, never mind lipfillers.

AnnieSnap · 29/03/2022 19:17
@theyoungishman Thank you but the question wasn’t about asking for opinions on whether I should get it or not

Here’s a helpful bit of advice since we’re going in that direction
Unless asked for, keep your opinion to yourself

Would you say it to the face of a stranger- no, so don’t hide behind a screen and say it
Too many judgemental and nosey people
Yes I would if the stranger asked me about it and you are asking about it here. Not only does it look false and awful (sometimes more than others), but you are paying hundreds to look awful 🤷‍♀️

AnnieSnap · 29/03/2022 19:35

@opalescent

I've recently had mine done for the first time. I can't tell you how much I love them, or how much it has boosted my confidence. Totally agree with all posters that it is generally fairly obvious. Somehow you just cease to care once you finally have soft plump lips to show off! I've really enjoyed trying new lip colours and playing around with make up. Mine were 1ml, £240.

I'll definitely be going back.

Below left is before, the two on the right are after, with and without makeup.

I’m genuinely glad you like them and they have helped your confidence. That said, IMHO the before photo looks by far the best. I thought that before reading your post confirming that it is the before filler photo!
altiara · 29/03/2022 19:39

You can go to plastic surgeons or dermatologists that have background experience in knowing how a natural face looks. But the cost would be much higher.
I don’t think I’d trust a nurse or midwife even if they’ve got a few years injector training as I’d want it to look more natural.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 29/03/2022 20:11

@MaxCrashtappen - your lips are the most natural I've ever seen. I would never have known you'd had filler. Am really impressed, and with the other work too, looks so good and simply looks 'fresh'. You also have a great skin tone - very healthy!

Flowerbedflora · 29/03/2022 20:18

Op have you looked at lip blushing? It's a newer and more subtle lip treatment. It's not filler but a semi permanent tattoo that can enhance your own shape and looks like you're wearing a nice lip gloss/ lip stick.

CountTessa · 29/03/2022 20:25

Just out of interest, if you're doing it when your husband is away so he won't notice or you think he doesn't even notice, then why do it? What do you think would happen if they 'did find out'?

Bedsheets4knickers · 29/03/2022 20:46

They are now uncool and becoming less & less popular . Save your money

privsncychsrge · 29/03/2022 20:51

I've also had the lip fillers while my husband is away.
I know you didn't ask me, but it's an interesting question. I think it's because I don't want to be teased about it (lip filler can provoke strong opinions and reactions). Also because I don't discuss my beauty or hair regime with him full stop. I don't even want to explain why I do it.

I don't know what his reaction would be, or what his opinion on fillers are. I'd guess he might say 'pointless or unnecessary' as he hadn't noticed a difference.

Jewel52 · 29/03/2022 20:54

Also had lip filler at the same time as Juvederm treatment for lip lines. Was really pleased with the result and it was subtle. Only downside is that it only lasts about 3 -4 months initially and costs £300 when done by a nurse. Do you have a Skn clinic near you as they’re consistent and national? Would take a photo of the look you’re aiming for.

No need to be so aggressive towards those trying to advise against it. This is a forum for people with different opinions, you can just leave the ones you don’t agree with without bursting a blood vessel!
