Lip fillers - help!

I’m considering lip filler but nothing too drastic just a small amount

What should I be looking for and how much is it

I’m out of my depth

@RampantIvy

They look like they have been "done" to me. Sorry.
I honestly don't see what you're seeing... I guess close up pics/knowing something has been done helps, but they really are pretty subtle (both me and lady before).
NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 26/03/2022 16:05

Could you please also tell me what kind of filler it was

Juvederm, at Therapie in London.
HeyMicky · 26/03/2022 16:22

Firstly, make sure your injector is a prescriber so they can deal with any emergencies.

Secondly, I would would recommend a clinic that uses a cannula rather than a needle - much finer layers, the filler runs along the lip rather than pooling in spots, and there is much less bruising.

abeanbaked · 26/03/2022 16:58

Firstly, make sure your injector is a prescriber so they can deal with any emergencies.

Prescribers are not the only people who can deal with emergencies. The person administering should be first aid trained and able to administer anaphylactic drugs.

@lipfillerpicthrowaway

Here's mine - 1ml over two sessions, 0.5ml a time. I don't think anyone would notice them but it's evened them out and made a little less thin.
I'd agree with RampantIvy that it's noticeable. It creates a little shelf of skin above the top lip (I've also seen it described as a skin moustache), which doesn't happen naturally.

You're obviously free to do it if it makes you happy, but it isn't the case that nobody would notice.

I’m sorry but wtf about “dentists doing it on the side”? 😂 you do know that dentists literally spend 5 years at university studying faces and if you need your face totally reconstructed, they bring in the dentists.

Lots of dentists offer lip fillers as an additional service. It doesn't negate their training or abilities. It's just an additional service many offer.
Fluffycloudland77 · 26/03/2022 17:14

There’s no point having it done if it’s not noticeable though is there? If I had a boob job I’d want to look noticeably different.

So what if people can tell.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 26/03/2022 17:16

An additional service most of them train for - in fact the one I use has a masters in aesthetics.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 26/03/2022 17:34

I’d love to have them done to rid my face of the smokers lines (gave up 5 years ago but got tiny lines above my mouth) but I have never seen a decent, natural job. I can see them in every photo on this thread. They don’t all look the same, some posted are more obvious in size and with some it’s the ‘solidness’ of the lips but I’d be so worried mine looked ‘done’ and that people would be secretly thinking ‘wtf?!’.

TabithaTittlemouse · 26/03/2022 17:37
I love her
UptownWorld · 26/03/2022 17:41

0.5ml only if you want to be natural.

Whatthefuck3456 · 26/03/2022 18:33

Just go for it OP, get 0.5ml every session until your happy this way you can’t go wrong or go to big. Juvederm is the best filler on the market. Good luck

Missreginafalange · 26/03/2022 18:37
@theyoungishman Thank you but the question wasn’t about asking for opinions on whether I should get it or not

Here’s a helpful bit of advice since we’re going in that direction
Unless asked for, keep your opinion to yourself

Would you say it to the face of a stranger- no, so don’t hide behind a screen and say it
Too many judgemental and nosey people
Well said OP!

I have two friends who have their lips done, one is very noticeable and they other you can't tell, was surprised when she told me. If you want it done go for it!

I'm agreeing with you, probably just not explaining myself well. I'm agreeing.
Helpmymum · 26/03/2022 18:58

I think it's defo a case of who does them/ how good their technique is and how much you have. I'm happy to share a pic of my before and (immediately) after. 0.5ml, I think it's an obvious improvement but without it being really obviously filler?

NeedleNoodle3 · 26/03/2022 19:10

I have thin lips and with a tiny bit of filler every two years I now have near normal size lips. Still on the small size but not no lips.
I have 1ml in total which is put in my smokers lines (I don’t smoke) jowls and then either cheeks or lips. It costs £300 and I go once a year.
I’ve never told anyone I get it done.

IEatChocolateForBreakfast · 26/03/2022 19:32

I've been seriously considering getting this done because my lips have previously been very plump and full. Always got loads of compliments on them, but recently I've noticed the top lip is less full and it's bothering me. I would think about getting .25-.5ml max on mine. But worry that you'll be able to tell. After a botched skin treatment that left me with permanent marks on my face (a very very popular treatment from a very reputable salon - I just had an extreme reaction to it.) it did make me realise how sometimes we don't realise how good we had it before.

No offence to the PP's but the first and second lips are incredibly obvious that filler has been used. Not saying it looks terrible. But very obvious

IEatChocolateForBreakfast · 26/03/2022 19:33

*first and third pics I meant

opalescent · 26/03/2022 19:34

I've recently had mine done for the first time. I can't tell you how much I love them, or how much it has boosted my confidence.
Totally agree with all posters that it is generally fairly obvious. Somehow you just cease to care once you finally have soft plump lips to show off! I've really enjoyed trying new lip colours and playing around with make up. Mine were 1ml, £240.

I'll definitely be going back.

Below left is before, the two on the right are after, with and without makeup.

NeedleNoodle3 · 26/03/2022 19:34

Does it matter if it’s obvious? We nearly all dye our hair and that’s obvious.

whataboutbob · 26/03/2022 19:37

They look nice and natural @MaxCrashtappen

JustFrustrated · 26/03/2022 19:46

But do you want it obvious to strangers, or to you? I think that's the difference.

I had mine done, and I can tell, as can DH obvs.

But a stranger wouldn't know, wouldn't even consider they could be fake because they look super natural. does that make sense?

mummaj12 · 26/03/2022 19:50

I had 0.5mls and I feel like that was just a subtle change to my lips which is just what I wanted to be honest.
