Singing the praises of Nivea Soft

Honestly this stuff is amazing. I've had to go without for about a week as Home Bargains (£1.79 a tube!) had run out and it's made me realise how good it is. I've developed drier skin as a 46 year old and although I've used it for years Nivea Soft seems to have come into its own since that's happened. I do use a thicker night cream, then a lighter day cream (both Aldi Caviar) but then a slather of Nivea on top. It really makes foundation go on brilliantly for me, even gives my skin the fabled "dewy" look. If I don't have it as a form of extra moisture/primer, foundation sits badly (usually pills) and my skin dries out quicker over the course of the day.

It feels like one of those "well kept secret" el cheapo products that everyone should know about.

Ooh I’m going to have to look out for this product , have you got a link for it op

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/03/2022 11:43

It's fantastic, I wish I could use it as it does wonders for my skin initially but after about a month something in it makes me itch.

magbob · 25/03/2022 11:53

I use it (and goats milk or snail serum soap). Much, much cheaper than all the No 7 lotions and serums that I used and my skin seems to like it. I smother it on my neck and decolletage and I don't seem as wrinkly - could be my imagination (or all the collagen I consume!)

jowly · 25/03/2022 12:02

I've started with Nivea creme around eyes and then Nivea soft all over face and neck at bedtime and it's beating all the night creams I've ever tried.
I swear I wake up less crumpled, even if I go to sleep looking ghostly Smile

SummerOfComedy · 25/03/2022 12:05

I've been using this for years. I got a big tub from Amazon and it lasts ages.

I like that it can be used all over your body and not just your face.

I usually put it on in the morning and if I'm not going anywhere that I need to wear makeup for, I don't wash my face till the next morning. My skin is very good (for my age! ☺️).
I'm not into all the expensive creams available, this suits me just fine.

DejaVoodoo · 25/03/2022 12:51

My two adult DDs love it too (one got the other into it) but my skin is a bit drier so I use full fat Nivea creme, and extra rich Nivea lotion on dry body parts.
Love Nivea. I went to the Nivea shop in Hamburg a couple of years ago. Was in heaven.

When you say full fat, do you mean the one in the blue tin? I have some for my very dry hands but just can't picture putting it on my face, it's so thick
User7853367 · 25/03/2022 13:26

I've been using it for almost 20 years. Nothing can beat it the best moisturiser there is.

waltzingparrot · 25/03/2022 13:29

I could cry the amount I've probably spent on Clinique over the years. Still, I discovered Nivea Soft ten years ago, so think of the money I've saved.

Great stuff for my dry skin.

DejaVoodoo · 25/03/2022 13:29

@miltonj yes, exactly that! Always at night, and in the morning if I'm not going out, otherwise Astral cream under my foundation.
I've been using it since I was 12.

PangolinPie · 25/03/2022 14:06

I'm glad it has other fans! I think it also has jojoba oil in it which seems to agree with my skin (I use pure jojoba oil to remove eye make up).

I have used the full fat dark blue tin nivea too but I find it too hard to rub in! Nivea Soft is incredibly easy to apply.

I love it! I'm also a fan of nivea blue, I put a ton on my face before bed a couple of times a week and it's done wonders for the appearance of my creepy neck

DejaVoodoo · 25/03/2022 15:05

my creepy neck

I hope you mean your crepey neck, @nearlyspringyay! Grin

nearlyspringyay · 25/03/2022 15:15

GrinGrin to be fair it's pretty bad, some might find it creepy!!

PyjamaFan · 25/03/2022 15:21

I've used nivea soft since my early twenties and love it! I've tried expensive stuff a couple of times but nothing else is anywhere near as good. And recently 2 different people have thought I'm 30-something when actually I'm late 40s.

BusterGonad · 25/03/2022 15:32

I'm loving Astral at the moment. It's even better than Nivea soft and Nivea blue tin. My ultimate favourite is Nuxe comforting face balm but it can be pricey so Astral is the next best thing.

WhoppingBigBackside · 25/03/2022 15:36

I like Nivea Soft too.
Not keen on Astral or regular blue tin Nivea.

CambsAlways · 25/03/2022 15:39

Well I’ve just gone out and bought some Nivea soft on everyone recommendations. Let you know later what I think

girljulian · 25/03/2022 15:42

Yes! I just got some of this recently when I, on a whim, bought a reduced Nivea "Christmas cracker" thing at Lidl and it had a tub of Nivea Soft in it. It's amazing!

A580Hojas · 25/03/2022 15:43

Use Nivea Soft on my super sensitive face and Nivea Creme on my neck and chest. Can't fault it, I love the gentle scent and cooling, soothing feel of Nivea Soft.

redpickle · 25/03/2022 15:54

They did a test on a beauty show on Tv a while ago, testing a range of products at different price points and Nivea Soft won overall and in most categories. It think it was something with Cherry Healey on Channel 4

Mybobowler · 25/03/2022 15:55

My mum bought me Nivea Soft when I was about 12. I'm 32 now and yet to use anything better. I keep falling for other brands fancy packaging and price tags, but Nivea Soft is surprisingly hard to beat!

Fairislefandango · 25/03/2022 16:04

Trouble is, it doesn't have SPF, does it?

PangolinPie · 25/03/2022 16:05

@Fairislefandango

No but I'd argue you'd be far better buying a separate facial sunscreen anyway. I don't rate SPF in moisturiser because you never end up putting enough on.

Fluffruff · 25/03/2022 16:09

Just to be clear, you use it on your face? Or body? Trots off to the shops to get some.
