Which dress to black tie

Just realised the work event I have next week is black tie. It's being hosted by one of our suppliers so no customers there not that it makes a difference.

So which dress shall I wear
Orange - love the swish of this one but bought it 7/8 years ago pre child no3 so they'd more cleavage out than before and I feel a little exposed.

Red dress has pockets the zip is stiff though so worried it will go.

Black dress nice enough but a bit bland could do with a brighter contrast for the white lining

Black for sure, but as PPs have said, with brighter shoes.

I'm surprised that people like the red - it looks a bit old-fashioned to me (no shade on you OP, you look nice in it, I just don't think the dress is great).

Marynotsocontrary · 24/03/2022 23:58

I also think red looks old-fashioned and am surprised at the love for it...but maybe I'm so old now things are becoming fashionable again Grin

TurqoiseBlue · 25/03/2022 00:02

Black or red- although the red does look very 1990's, but I love the neckline. The orange shows too much cleavage to be appropriate for a work event IMO and makes your stomach look larger.

I'd invest in some good support wear for underneath to smooth everything out- which ever one you pick.

Theblacksheepandme · 25/03/2022 00:08

I actually love the orange but the red is probably more suitable for a work event.
I don't like the black one. You look great in all the dresses though as you have a fabulous curvy figure.

AgathaMystery · 25/03/2022 00:09

Red!!

Shinyandnew1 · 25/03/2022 00:12

The orange is not flattering around the stomach and the red is a bit old fashioned-the black is fab though.

HeddaGarbled · 25/03/2022 00:13

Red.

Black would be fine.

No to the orange.

MaryStuart · 25/03/2022 00:13

Red is 👍🏻
Then black
Not orange

grannyjacob · 25/03/2022 00:17

The red one is lovely on you, very flattering.

blitzkoff · 25/03/2022 00:20

Red then black
Not orange , its not flattering , it's not in the same league as the others

SirenSays · 25/03/2022 00:26

They all look great on you but I prefer the black. I think the red looks a bit too much like a bridesmaids dress.

Lovinglife45 · 25/03/2022 00:27

I like the orange dress but feel it may not be appropriate for the occasion.

Red dress is classy and flatters your figure.

Black dress is also flattering and would be more suited to strappy sandals than court shoes.

DramaAlpaca · 25/03/2022 00:38

Absolutely the red one, it's stunning on you.

The black one is OK too, just not as nice as the red.

The orange one isn't quite right for black tie.

ouch321 · 25/03/2022 00:39

The red one- your figure looks best in it

LoveFall · 25/03/2022 00:50

To me the red is the most flattering on you for sure.

LadyEloise1 · 25/03/2022 00:57

The black one.
As another poster said, the red is a bit old fashioned.
I think the orange one looks a bit tight.
The black is classy.

Weatherwax13 · 25/03/2022 01:00

I really like the black. You have lovely shoulders and arms so I think that cut really suits you

Charleymouse · 25/03/2022 01:10

Red
Orange
Black

But all look lovely.

vastgrandupgrade · 25/03/2022 01:14

@peachgreen

Black for sure, but as PPs have said, with brighter shoes.

Agree with this! Get some really nice shoes and you will look amazing
Notarealmum · 25/03/2022 02:33

Orange - too much cleavage
Red - OK
Black - looks great on you!!

NashvilleQueen · 25/03/2022 03:14

POCKETS!

I also like that one best on you.

sashh · 25/03/2022 04:07

Red.

I'd put the others in the order Orange then black.

Longdistance · 25/03/2022 04:35

Red for sure, then black with strappy shoes. Not keen on the orange.
I’m going to a black tie event in May. I need to buy a dress though.

nzeire · 25/03/2022 05:00

Black!

episcomama · 25/03/2022 05:00

You look lovely in them all but the red is a knockout!
