Can a 45 year old size 14 get away with a jumpsuit?

I have a smartish event coming up at work and really like the look of this jumpsuit.

But I am 45 size 14 with chunky upper arms and 5ft5.

I’m not good with clothes so looking for advise - would something like this work?

Photos. Bit tricky to do up but material is light so zip moves easily.

What are you opinions?

Lovely Shape on you if you aren't wearing big heels it get it taken up.

I do prefer brighter colours and I do think you'd probably suit them looking at what I can see of your colouring but I know that some people aren't that comfortable in colour so personal choice.

It will look very elegant and smart.

Sorry OP ( great name btw), I don't like it very much but not because you look fat or anything. I just don't like the design very much. Seems a bit fussy.

I have just bought this from Seasalt which is not a name I associate with jumpsuits but it looks sleek and was on sale. www.seasaltcornwall.com/time-stretch-bamboo-jersey-jumpsuit

MrsSkylerWhite · 24/03/2022 19:38

Looks lovely. I’d take the legs up an inch though.

MrsBerthaRochester · 24/03/2022 20:31

Hmm Im not sure op? How do you feel? Can you post a pic with a better bra on and heels?

Loyaultemelie · 24/03/2022 21:01

I think it's lovely, with heels it will look great. You are inspiring me to brave the jumpsuit that is daring me to brave it from the wardrobe and I'm studiously it!

trulyconfuseddotcom · 24/03/2022 21:10

In case any use to you, I bought this jumpsuit recently and I love it - it's comfortable, flattering and the material feels quality. It's only £65 on sale! www.saharalondon.com/sale/explore/sale-explore-sale-dresses/flying-crane-print-jumpsuit-multi.htm

Pangolin44 · 24/03/2022 22:57

I don't think that's the one for you. You're letting it wear you rather than YOU are wearing it.

I'm not a fan of the spots and the puff-sleeve. It's neither here nor there. I think it's too polite and you need to go bold! You look apologetic in it OP!!

What do you usually wear? Who do you want to be?

Work from there. No point trying to shoehorn yourself into an image that isn't you.

TosstTastic · 25/03/2022 07:32

Loving the jumpsuit love, I came here to start a 'jumpsuits - do they hang, abandoned in the wardrobe' thread, obviously not.

CambsAlways · 25/03/2022 10:50

45 is certainly not old! I’m mid sixties and wear jumpsuits! I think they look great, size 14 5ft 7, and I’m certainly not incontinent 🤣🤣

theleafandnotthetree · 25/03/2022 10:55

I dislike that particular jumpsuit but think they are generally a really flattering option for people of all ages and most shapes - and even heights with the right heels. My boss is a good size 18 and she looks amazing in them, although I will say she is very well proportioned.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 25/03/2022 11:20

I really like the style but the colour of the top half isn’t great on anyone. It needs heels and bright lipstick I think.
It’s actually on 20% off at the moment

hettie · 25/03/2022 17:17

Of course you can rock a jump suit but I'm not sure about that one on you.... The colour on the top half is wrong for and it's too fussy. I would go jewelled colours (block of colour) or a print that's all over...and defo heels. I really like the green coast one

VorpalSword · 25/03/2022 17:22

I’m going to send it back - for the money I should love it but I don’t. Will look at others though. Thanks all.

I think that jumpsuit on a person is a bit Minnie Mouse, but there’s a huge variety of jumpsuits around, and there will be many that look great on you. I tend to like darker ones, no pattern, but I’m quite safe in what I choose!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/03/2022 12:39

Definitely worth trying on with heels and a better bra.

But I think there are much nicer ones than that one around.

TottersBlankly · 26/03/2022 12:59

Yes … Think you’re right OP.

The question it makes me ask is would you choose that top and those trousers if they were two separate items? Bet you can’t say yes.

I’m not keen on jumpsuits myself but they do look good on other people. You just need to find a better one. Simpler. Less fussy. Cooler. Not a bad weekend quest!

RomeoOscarXrayIndigoEcho · 26/03/2022 14:08

Oh gosh. I think it really suits you and once styled would look lovely.
