😍

I need an awards ceremony to wear it to.

Triumphantly.

Clicked on link and got a serious looking bloke striding down the runway in micro shorts 😂
Don’t know about the dress, but he’d sure make an entrance....!

TottersBlankly · 11/03/2022 13:12

Indeed, NurseNeerDoWell!

(It may be that I’m so accustomed to interpreting styled photos of clothes that I forget other people don’t spend all their spare moments doing the same. Totally surprised by all the outrage regarding the model … Confused But grateful for those who’ve entered into the spirit I intended.)

Ok I'll go for Grace Kelly's Rear Window frock. And for the after party, I might change into the green suit.

James Stewart for my date obviously but, if he's unavailable, Cary Grant.

God that's hideous

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 11/03/2022 13:15

Everyone who says they hate it should post a pic of their chosen red carpet dress.

My sexy Mrs Danvers frock isn't red carpet enough so I'm going to find one that's a bit more extra.

flounfer · 11/03/2022 13:16

that ES is amazing

I don't like pink normally but would accept the oscar in this

tkwal · 11/03/2022 13:16

For some reason I'm picturing you as a redhead. I think the dress is stunning and I love the embellishments but the price is definitely breathtaking. I hope you win something that is worth as much as that dress and knock them dead at the award ceremony Star

I loooove that. So opulent. Bloomsbury vibes

merryhouse · 11/03/2022 13:21

First pic: ooh that's pretty (not for 10k mind)
Top of second pic: she's forgotten to cut off the hanging straps
Rest of second pic: wtf

Remember Kate Winslet's Oscar dress? That got roundly slated but I loved it (including the matching shoes)

RockinHorseShit · 11/03/2022 13:21

I will never understand how some designer brands can justify such ridiculous prices & no longevity to the design either & I say that as someone with decades of industry experience. There's paying for a name that might hold it's value for a garment that will hold its own & then there is taking the puss. This is definitely the latter

DomesticatedZombie · 11/03/2022 13:22

@AgnesNaismith

Glad you asked *@TottersBlankly* my brain tells me to be classy, unfortunately my heart is a little more flamboyant and so I’d go in this…on sale too!!
That's lovely.

Sorry, OP, I'm not seeing what you're seeing for the green frock.

And what has happened to this poor lamb, she needs a hot cup of soup and a wee sit down: www.miumiu.com/gb/en/ready_to_wear/dresses/products.Sequin_midi_dress.MF4501_1Z9Z_F0002.html

flounfer · 11/03/2022 13:22

I like the OPs choice, you just have to ignore the sullen expression & accessories that's just Miu Miu!

Yes. Absolutely. Stunning.

McQueen would always be my go to for a fancy occasion. If I ever went to any. Or had enough money. Or the figure for it.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 11/03/2022 13:28

I'm rather liking the Morticia Adams vibe of this dress. I do like a dress that puddles on the ground.

DomesticatedZombie · 11/03/2022 13:31

But it would puddle in puddles, SirSam! Nice so long as you're plannig to stand in one spot all night and have your drinks brought to you, I suppose.

BigSkies22 · 11/03/2022 13:32

Well, the model looks like an ironing board so I hope you have some lovely hourglass curves, OP. But assuming you do, I'm sure you can rock that dress.

I once identified a dress online in a shop in Ho Chi Minh before going on holiday there. I dragged my DH and DS through the city to try the frock on. I'm slim, it fitted, but looked like shit nevertheless. My chest and shoulders were just not right. (I'm not ample bosomed, quite flat, but athletic rather than small-boned). Fantasy punctured. But at least we got to see more of an exciting city!

Worldgonecrazy · 11/03/2022 13:38

I have this on stand by just in case I get a last minute red carpet invite.

I'm alright with having my drinks brought to me, while I stand around looking fabulous! Grin
tkwal · 11/03/2022 13:39

flounfer, you have the carolina Herrera, I'll take the pink one, I need more support up top Grin

BigSkies22 · 11/03/2022 13:39

Ooh that Oscar de la Renta is beautiful! and Ellie Fanning's Gucci number also. I fancy a high neck for myself and a low back. But really have to go and paint the bedroom now, so sadly, end of fantasy for today!

TottersBlankly · 11/03/2022 13:44

That Christopher John Rogers dress is a whole world of fun!

Oddly enough I’m rather liking most of the other fantasy frocks posted - thanks all! And definitely some svelte silk pyjamas for the after party. (I would link the ones I want, but I need them to remain a secret (Hmm) until I feel ready to take the plunge.

I asked DH how much he thought the dress was. He said £25 🤣
