😍

I need an awards ceremony to wear it to.

Triumphantly.

Love the dress! I think that neckline suits women with a bit of flesh which is why it doesn’t work on the model.
I’m hoping the Nora Batty look was for a date.

Tombero · 11/03/2022 11:25

For the price I’d want it hemmed and finished at the bottom. And the underskirt showing doesn’t work for me.

God, I’m turning into my mother!

DPotter · 11/03/2022 11:26

Love the colour and the style - just wish I had the figure to carry it off!

But I don't like the unfinished look - the hem is frayed. And I think your upper arms would be scratched by the gems and beading work.

And I know it's off the point but they really need to get a new stylist - those Nora Batty's do nothing to set the dress off and even the shoes are wrong - if ever a dress cried out for matching colour shoes, it's this dress. Black would be the last colour I'd choose.

So Totter's - fantasy dress, what's the fantasy event and whose your date?

threecupsofteaminimum · 11/03/2022 11:27

Looks horrible and really uncomfortable to me!

TottersBlankly · 11/03/2022 11:28

I inherited my love for clothes and style from my mother, so I’d be proud to turn into her.

(No chance, I’m a very second-rate copy.)

To fund it, could you do some ironing, OP? Or change job? Or work more hours? While simultaneously getting a cleaner to free up more time? Stop buying an Iphone Max Pro. And avocados. And coffee?

Hopefully you'll understand my opinion of the archetypal MN advice when money is tight rather than my post being any criticism of you, OP.

I like the attitude in the model on one of @rbe78 links, unless she's having an uncontrolled back spasm.

TottersBlankly · 11/03/2022 11:41

Can’t do anything usefully lucrative while I’m busy pondering answers to DPotter’s questions …

I suspect my actual dream date would curl his lip with disdain if invited, so … Of the usual suspects I might deign to accept Timothée Chalamet - just because he’d look really good standing beside my frock.

Are we looking at the same dress because that's revolting and looks like cheap tat I wouldn't buy for a fiver on a market stall Confused

BIWI · 11/03/2022 11:47

Why on earth would they style that dress with those socks and shoes?!

I think someone was taking the piss Grin

AgnesNaismith · 11/03/2022 11:48

Glad you asked @TottersBlankly my brain tells me to be classy, unfortunately my heart is a little more flamboyant and so I’d go in this…on sale too!!

Oh my! If ever a dress could make me work harder …
Tanaqui · 11/03/2022 11:50

Well I love it and it would suit me if the straps were a fraction wider! But might all that beading be uncomfy to sit on?! I'll take Chris Hemsworth as an accompaniment!

Rosehugger · 11/03/2022 11:53

I really don't like the first dress at all, sorry. Looks like something from a charity shop which was originally from Monsoon in 1989.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 11/03/2022 11:54

This is my dress if I ever win a Bafta (I think it'd be too warm for the Oscars, I'd probably wear Vivienne Westwood to that):

Oh yes... that is a thing of beauty 👌🏽
Loudhousefun · 11/03/2022 11:59

It’s gorgeous, you have great taste

Rosehugger · 11/03/2022 11:59

I'd much rather have something like Elle Fanning's Gucci dress for the Golden Globes.

Can anyone else not see a picture in @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal's post?

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 11/03/2022 12:03

I like your dress, OP. Sadly I think that colour would make me look bilious though.

The dress I've been perving on is only £695.

I'd feel like a sexy Mrs Danvers in it.

I can't see it either. I love Viv's frocks too. We're clearly not worthy of seeing it Sad
MarshaBradyo · 11/03/2022 12:05

The top part doesn’t look quite right, too low maybe

AgnesNaismith · 11/03/2022 12:07

I can’t see it either!!

TottersBlankly · 11/03/2022 12:08

I remember that dress, MurderAtTheBeautyPageant! There was a thread a while ago where someone (you?) was considering it to wear as a wedding guest. It’s beautiful.

Yes I can see the dress next to Timothee - good choice. Curious as to who would dare curl his lip at you or the dress ?
