Facial Fillers. I am SO happy with the results

I just wanted to come on here and share my experience. I've wanted facial fillers for a long time as ive lost alot of volume in my mid face as I've aged. I'm 44 and had my first botox experience in November last year. I was over the moon with that. For 11s and a little in my forehead. Anyhoo fast forward to yesterday and I've had filler in my cheeks and a little in my nasolabial folds and a tiny bit in the corners of my mouth. I just cannot tell you how happy I am with the results. Its subtle but that's exactly how it should be. I look plumped and refreshed. More importantly I still look like me! It cost £900 for 3ml. Top end place but with years of experience and fantastic reputation.

I have no bruising. No swelling. It wasn't sore at all. I am a tad tender today but nothing remotely worth even taking a paracetamol for. I bruise easily so i am surprised at this.

Anyways anyone who has been thinking of going for this I'd totally recommend it. Do your research first though.

@PandoraP. I think tear troughs done right absolutely can look good and natural if your face warrants getting them done. As someone said a good practitioner will recommend whats needed and achievable I'd imagine.

@Gonnagetgoing. You wouldn't be able to tell i had fillers it is v subtle. Botox maybe but only because of the shine that can be a bit hard to control sometimes but not always. The puffy look is being overfilled id imagine or the filler not being placed right.

@PandoraP you already have a good practitioner though don't you so I'm sure when the time is right it will be fab too x

Any recommendations in south west? I’ve had a couple of friends have work done by Facebook aestheticians and they both look awful. It’s really put me off. Really puffy looking.
I’m looking in south west too - there’s a lot on Bristol where I live, just no personal recommendations yet.

The one person I know who has lip fillers looks ok after the first couple of days, I think lip fillers are always kind or obvious though, not that thats necessarily a bad thing.

Super interested in this. Do fillers sort out jowels??

PandoraP · 13/03/2022 09:44

@Back2Black, yes!!

In all honesty, it depends on how much fat you have in your face and how advanced they are. If you have a slimmish face with moderate sagging, so the jowl is basically just skin, nit fat, cheek fillers will lift the jowls. However if they are caused by fat sinking down, it might not be enough. I had bad jowls and the biggest difference made to mine was when I lost weight, reducing the fat in the area. I had some sagging of skin and filler helped with that. But in the end I went with a thread lift which had a great result. I am 52 though so there was a fair bit of laxity to deal with.
JudyGemstone · 13/03/2022 10:39

I thought about threads, one beauty therapist said they were a bit old hat and not recommended these days as they can droop on one side making you look like you’ve had a stroke 😬

Don’t know if this is true but it’s put me off slightly, sounds like you’re happy with yours though 5128gap?

Yes, I've had them twice now over a 5 year period and never had any issues. I was told there was a very slight risk of them breaking in the first three weeks if I pulled extreme expressions or took very vigorous excercise, but I would have just been able to have gone back and had it removed and replaced, so nothing permanent. The threads i have only stay in the skin for up to 6 months, before disolving. The subsequent lift is due to your own collagen being stimulated to act as stronger support. It a more invasive procedure though, so I'd only ever have it done by a doctor.

Thanks thats helpful x

I treated myself to a consultation and some botox at the Harley Street Skin Clinic last year. I am nearly 50 and was worried about slight jowls forming. The doctor said that thread lifts were best thing for jowls, got great results, but that I didn't need them yet. A friend goes to a very high end cosmetic doc and had a thread lift last year, in her mid 50s - seemed to be good on her. I don't think these specialist aesthetic doctors would be recommending thread lifts if they were really old hat, given that eg a large part of their practice will also be doing fillers. It's just another tool in the kit Smile
Back2Black · 13/03/2022 12:19

Thanks, that's very informative 5128gap

MrsAmber · 13/03/2022 14:44

The thread lift sounds interesting and something I’d like to look into for my sagging jowls!

Any recommendations for the Cheshire area?

feemcgee · 21/03/2022 10:47

Hi everyone, just wanted to update you on the fillers I had to my tear troughs a week past Friday. I am amazed at the results! The doctor used ultrasound to check where arteries were so she could avoid them and then went in quite low down on my cheeks with a canula. I am terrible with pain, and it was really uncomfortable and slightly painful. Needed 2ml as they were pretty sunken. Once the redness went after an hour or so, there was absolutely no bruising, probably because she checked for arteries and missed hitting them. No-one has noticed thankfully, but I can feel them when I clean my face. I'd love to get botox at the corner of my eyes now but the fillers cost £500 and I can't justify spending any more.
The clinic is in Stirling if anyone is in the area and would like contact details.

Just to say I think filler longevity depends on where you have it. I've had to have my filler redone above my top lip about 10 months after. But the filler in my forehead has lasted a year so far.

Either way I'm extremely happy with the results.

Where is the forehead filler? Temple? I've been considering this.

Has anyone seen cheek pad filler, I think it is, not cheekbones, for loss of volume? My practitioner said it wasn't possible, but I know someone who's recently had it done and it's quite subtle. Though apparently it was a complicated procedure.

Ozanj · 21/03/2022 15:22

PM me the place pls. I want to get mine done and am willing to travel

oslocalling · 21/03/2022 19:53

So interesting to read all these comments. I had cheek fillers 2 years ago (1ml in each cheek) no cannula and was left with the most terrible bruising on both cheeks, it took about a month for it to fully go. Once the bruising did subside I was pleased with the results but I am so wary now and haven’t plucked up the courage to try it again.

Can anyone please recommend me a reputable doctor in the South East, I’d be very grateful. Thank you!

jeaux90 · 22/03/2022 11:26

@balancebeam I mainly have Botox for the forehead which has massively helped over time, but had filler in a rather bad vertical crease that was running in between my brows up. It has lasted really well.

@oslocalling I did loads of research and went with the Cosmetic Skin clinic who have a place in London but I use their location in Stoke Poges (bucks)

They have won awards over several years and I am super pleased.

Arnica tablets help with bruising

Northernlass99 · 25/01/2023 13:27

I started very tentatively with 1ml for marionette lines and jowls and even that made a big difference, very pleased with it. 12 months later I am ready for a bit more and will be getting 2mls.

Alice Hart-Davis from the Tweakments guide had a scan of her filler and found it was still there 4 years later. This is good news that fillers may last longer than we think.

It could be seen as bad news too?
