Facial Fillers. I am SO happy with the results

I just wanted to come on here and share my experience. I've wanted facial fillers for a long time as ive lost alot of volume in my mid face as I've aged. I'm 44 and had my first botox experience in November last year. I was over the moon with that. For 11s and a little in my forehead. Anyhoo fast forward to yesterday and I've had filler in my cheeks and a little in my nasolabial folds and a tiny bit in the corners of my mouth. I just cannot tell you how happy I am with the results. Its subtle but that's exactly how it should be. I look plumped and refreshed. More importantly I still look like me! It cost £900 for 3ml. Top end place but with years of experience and fantastic reputation.

I have no bruising. No swelling. It wasn't sore at all. I am a tad tender today but nothing remotely worth even taking a paracetamol for. I bruise easily so i am surprised at this.

Anyways anyone who has been thinking of going for this I'd totally recommend it. Do your research first though.

@Splendididity

Thats interesting op.. glad you got a good result. I had some done in the new year.. added cheek volume. The practitionor said he wdnt put any filler in the.nasal folds asnit was.the cheek.bones that pull the skin up.. bit I still have.the folds . Wonder if a different clinic would do it like you have had yrs done.. sounds.fab ( plus i got massive brusing )
Scaffolding I think they called it! I had the same, cheekbone filler, a tiny amount, one ml for both sides, but didn't make any difference to my nasolabial folds, hence having more filler.

@ClemFandangoo

OP (or anyone else?) do fillers work on what I think is a marionette line appearing. It’s a crease from the corner my mouth downwards and has started appearing in the side I sleep on/squash my face into the pillow. Bergen trying to sleep in my back and caffeine drops are helping a bit not not much Sad
I used to get this too, though mine disappeared a few hours after waking. I applied facial oil over the area and slept on back and it improved dramatically.
NewMe2021 · 10/03/2022 17:39

@Splendididity I have read that is the new thing with alot of practitioners but I believe unless you have minimal volume loss nasolabial folds then filling cheeks only won't give enough of a result.

@Bunce1 I'm 44. I'm in Glasgow. Happy to share practitioner with anyone who is up this end and wants more info. Better beware of the mumsnet advertising police though Grin. I'm not remotely on here advertising. Place I went is high end in Glasgow and don't need any on the side advertising from me!

I love having botox and fillers - it makes such a difference to my face. I get botox twice a year and fillers once a year. They have really restored my confidence since hitting my forties.

ClemFandangoo · 10/03/2022 17:45

Mine used to @balancebeam but I’m like an unfolded piece of origami now. You only have to push it and it goes folds back at the old creases. 🤣

I try sleeping in my back but always wake on my side. I have recently bought this cocoa butter fave miracle stuff so will give that a go.

I honestly thought I’d need to get my forehead lines done way before anything else, but this is way more noticeable and far more ageing!

NewMe2021 · 10/03/2022 17:47

@ClemFandangoo I'm 44. I would say I had quite bad volume loss. Both the botox and these fillers has taken years off me Smile

@ThankYouVeryMuchGerry. I know i will continue as you have. Its made a big difference to my confidence and I'm over the moon.

I had Botox and fillers a few weeks ago and it has also made such a difference to me too. I love how subtle it is. I just look fresher. Love love love it!!

Thanks OP, I’m 42 so that’s good to hear. I don’t think I’m struggling with volume loss (too many biscuits) but I seem to have aged more in the last year than I had in the last decade! I’m so worried about Botox but for some reason fillers don’t bother me.

ValkyrieVik · 10/03/2022 18:15

OP and Those of you who've had fillers - what did they use (which filler I mean)?

I want to try it but there are so many options - I posted on here a bit ago about ellanse but didn't really get any responses. I'm reluctant to go ahead with that as it can't be dissolved and can last up to 4 years - I'm not willing to take that risk the first time I have filler of any kind.

I've heard that profhilo is just a very temporary "refreshed" look and doesn't work on marionette or nasal-Labio folds.

Any recommendations would be most welcome.

NewMe2021 · 10/03/2022 18:44

@ValkyrieVik. Juvederm was what I had. I personally wouldn't risk anything more permanent.

@ClemFandangoo. I know what you mean. For me it felt all of a sudden I noticed how I'd aged but probably it was more my children had got older and i started focusing on myself. I've hated getting pictures taken for years :(

It sucks doesn’t it. I’ve become a lot more outdoorsy since covid, think the elements are now showing on my face. That and stress eating 😊

I feel like I look ok in artificial light but daylight is brutal! 🙁

ChickenStripper · 10/03/2022 20:37

My filler lasts about 18 months - it consists of a small amount of scaffolding and the nose to mouth lines and the little lines at the corner of your mouth. It makes such a huge difference. Botox is every 6 months. I don't have a lot of wrinkles but he uses it as an eyebrow lift to reduce upper eye skin folds. I look forward to my appointments.

thenightsky · 10/03/2022 20:43

I'd love to go for fillers and botox. But I'm 62 so fear its too late and I've missed the boat. Sad

I'm older than you.
thenightsky · 10/03/2022 20:57

oooh... chicken whereabouts in the UK are you? If East Midlands I'd be keen for you to PM me your therapist.

ChickenStripper · 10/03/2022 21:01

Not East Midlands I'm afraid - in the South. I use a consultant facial doctor. He's no more expensive than other practitioners I read about.

Anjelika · 10/03/2022 21:10

I got Botox done 3 weeks ago and whilst it's smoothed out my forehead, it's made my eye area look a whole lot worse, especially first thing in the morning. It's made my eyes more hooded and I think my tear troughs look worse so it's been a bit of a disappointment. I wouldn't say I look in the least bit refreshed!

I went back to get naso-labial fillers done but chickened out for fear of bruising. I bruised with the Botox and couldn't risk having 2 lines of bruises from my nose to mouth. She said she couldn't use a cannula on me (which I know helps prevent bruising) as they're only really suitable to use on a man's face. That seems odd considering a cannula's been mentioned on this thread. Now wondering if I should go elsewhere next time.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 10/03/2022 21:21

Was it Darren McKeown? He seems to have a good rep in Glasgow for giving people the natural look. Although...looking at his insta page it's a shame he doesn't use as light a touch on his own face as he does on his patients! Eeek.

NewMe2021 · 10/03/2022 21:32

@Anjelika from what you've said I would definitely be looking for a consultation elsewhere. I only get botox for my 11s and a little in the forehead... because my Dr (certified plastic surgeon) said something along the lines of my forehead muscles are essentially holding up my eyebrows and too much could cause hooded eyes. I've not had one bit of bruising with botox or these fillers - and I bruise super super easily. My main query though would be her telling you cannulas are only used for men. Thats just not true. I'd imagine she just doesn't have the right experience?

OP posts:
NewMe2021 · 10/03/2022 21:36

@MurderAtTheBeautyPageant. Yes Darren. He is fab! Re:, his appearance he has a history I believe and had an unnecessary irreversible procedure very young which is why he set out on this path and ensures his practice only offers the natural look. He's a great guy, Rhona who works alongside him is lovely too. I can't fault my experience with them so far. And imo you get what you pay for.

I saw a doc they made about him and the results on his patients were v impressive. I remember him mentioning the early work he'd had done that he now regretted (think it was a nose job?) but looking at his Instagram page he seems to have gone a bit overboard on the facial fillers recently.

I feel a bit bad saying that as he really does seem to get impressive results for his clients. Glad you had a positive experience. Smile
