Facial Fillers. I am SO happy with the results

I just wanted to come on here and share my experience. I've wanted facial fillers for a long time as ive lost alot of volume in my mid face as I've aged. I'm 44 and had my first botox experience in November last year. I was over the moon with that. For 11s and a little in my forehead. Anyhoo fast forward to yesterday and I've had filler in my cheeks and a little in my nasolabial folds and a tiny bit in the corners of my mouth. I just cannot tell you how happy I am with the results. Its subtle but that's exactly how it should be. I look plumped and refreshed. More importantly I still look like me! It cost £900 for 3ml. Top end place but with years of experience and fantastic reputation.

I have no bruising. No swelling. It wasn't sore at all. I am a tad tender today but nothing remotely worth even taking a paracetamol for. I bruise easily so i am surprised at this.

Anyways anyone who has been thinking of going for this I'd totally recommend it. Do your research first though.

@MurderAtTheBeautyPageant. I can't recall what he'd had done early on but yeah it might have been a nose job. He is really set on the natural look and has raised alot of awareness of the unregulated nature of cosmetic procedures. He has alot of published research too. He is a great guy and actually in person he looks good. I researched to death before choosing him. When it comes to your face you want the best. It's an art form and obviously helps to know the anatomy of the face inside out as he does. I am genuinely so very happy with my results hence I started this thread Smile. I think many people underestimate the importance of a good practitioner and their EXPERIENCE when it comes to botox / fillers. As I said before you get what you pay for Smile

Absolutely, never understand when people are looking for the cheapest deal when it comes to something that's being injected into their actual fizzog!

I had a load of first time fillers at Darren McKeown ten months ago and am thrilled. Spent over 2K as I was mad keen to minimise marrionette lines and hollow cheeks. It basically took several ml to reshore up the anatomy of my facial structure, mid fifties. Didn't want any botox, had it once years ago on my 11s and still get a headache when raising my eyebrows. So chuffed with the results, I look exactly like me but from 15 years ago. He's such a lovely doctor too. Highly, highly recommend. Although I so agree with other posters, he is way over doing it on his own face. Starting to look like a woman!

@AbsoluteTruths, 10 months ago and fillers still going strong?

Report
AbsoluteTruths · 11/03/2022 12:48

They are still as good as new PandoraP! I was told they last around 18 months to two years but that everyone is different and that, if they did need re-done around that time, it would only need half as much to bring it back to standard. Must say, I jumped in feet first as I balked when I saw how noticable the marionette lines were in my passport picture and definitely consider it worth every penny.

@AbsoluteTruths, that’s amazing they have lasted that long. I feel so much better about myself after having mine done. Game changer!

It's interesting how such a subtle change, that nobody else would notice (apart from perhaps noticing you look well or young for your age) can make such a difference. I'm really pleased with other my results too.

I've had a tiny amount of filler in my lips (Russian method) and I find I wear hardly any make up now except for a dusting of mineral powder and some lip balm.

@picklemewalnuts

Isn't it the cumulative effect people worry about, though? You go back for a top up, a little more, another touch... each time a subtle change... and then suddenly you look like someone else.

No one I know who has treatments, myself included does this. Just like OP, we have the necessary to get the result we want and then get on with our lives for the next couple of years(filler) or 10 months (botox) until it needs redoing. There are vast numbers of women out there doing just this. A lot just don't tell anyone.

@balancebeam. I honestly couldn't have imagined such a subtle wee 3ml has made me feel so good. I was thinking about a tiny amount in my lips but she didn't feel it was warranted when i went for the consultation (the initial consultation to discuss what could be done was with Rhona at Darren Mckeown for anyone reading and interested. But i went with Darren for actual procedure). Another reason I am happy with who I've chosen as it would have been easy to plump me up there too and take the ££.

Anyhoo one thing I would say to anyone researching and considering fillers is to have realistic expectations. I was a bit concerned that before and after pics I could see online weren't reassuring as in I couldn't see a difference alot of the time. I suppose that's the point you want to look like a refreshed you not a different you. I've not posted before and after pics here as you probably wouldn't see what I can see. But I am so over the moon with the results. My daughter thinks I had went for a facial and said as soon as she seen me 'wow mum you look like you've got cheeks or something what did they do Smile and you look kind of smooth. She had no clue and won't as I would never tell her as she's at an influential age. My brother who knows said straight away I look 10 years younger. He would never massage my ego unless he genuinely could see a difference. My mum who also knows however said "you look the same to me" Grin. I won't be telling anyone else other than a few likeminded friends who are thinking of going for it and we're waiting for to be the guinea pig lol. The only person that matters really is me Smile and I had this done to feel good about myself. Anyhoo I waffle on... Good luck to anyone going for this. I started this post to reassure lurkers like me Smile

Thanks for posting, I am getting fillers for the first time tomorrow and I am nervous/excited! It will be just beneath my eyes as they are sunken, and in the lines on my neck. The woman is a GP and has the same and looks natural.

How did it go?

So glad you are loving them @NewMe2021 I think when we age, we are either a wrinkler or a sagger. I'm 55 and have very few lines if any but my jowls were forming and marrionette lines appeared becaue of the loss of cheek volume. Darren put some filler in my chin which sounded odd but totally balanced my fuller cheeks. I had a tiny bit in lips (hurty indeed!), again for balance. They don't look filled at all really. The whole thing just worked and I wept when he showed me the mirror. I honestly felt I'd gone in a time machine back to the old me before I got it. (had a nasty op 15 years ago that went wrong and left me incredibly ill so it took it's toll). I don't want to look 30 again particularly, just a bit less sunken and I loathed those marrionette lines so much and they're gone. It was honestly the best 2 grand I've ever spent. Don't spend on facials and never use foundation so I don't grudge myself it at all.

Dr Master's study was one of the first to demonstrate how magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be used to detect filler and create a "map" for dissolving it.

"We put them through the MRI scanner and what we found was really staggering," Dr Chan says.

"We found that filler lasted for two years, anywhere up to 12 years. So it's a massive difference to 18 months."

@AbsoluteTruths. I was saying this just last night Grin you're either a sagger or a wrinkler lol. I'm a definite sagger not many lines at all but will definitely get jowls like my mammy. I'm so happy it's made such a difference for you. I too don't spend much on anything else 'beauty' wise so I can totally justify the cost too. X

No shade from me as I get injectables myself and I'm thrilled you're so pleased OP. Can I ask why Dr McKeown? I've read he comes highly recommended but I just can't get past the work he's had done on his own face which for me would be an absolute red flag as to someone's judgement.
I'm in Glasgow a lot and would definitely consider him if I could get past that. .
