Can you recommend me your bar soap?

Since converting to bar soaps, I have tried quite a few but my favourite is definitely the Nesti Dante Fig and almond. I wanted to like some of the others as they sounded so nice and tried the coconut one and the mandarin ones but really wasn’t keen on the smell!

I’d quite like a smaller sized one for travelling (I know I could just cut it up) as the Nesti Dante ones are quite big and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for smaller soaps that smell fab?!

I get a subscription box from The Kentish Soap Company and it's all been lovely.

@Keiki

I buy my bars from craft fairs and farm shops. Lots of variety and you can sniff test them first. They are often smaller, and support small businesses. Personally I love goats milk soaps, they are so lovely on my skin.
Second this. Anything goats milk is wonderful and doesn't irritate my eczema

That’s my favourite too OP, you can get them in smaller sizes 150g rather than the larger 250g size. The fig one is part of the fruit collection

Shield soap. Have tried others but they don't seem to clean my skin as well. It lathers well, and you smell clean and fresh (as opposed to scented).

Mercurial123 · 07/03/2022 10:32

Syrian olive soap from local pharmacy. Not sure of the brand as it's written in Arabic.

Rollergirl999 · 07/03/2022 17:54

Pears Original- have used it since I was a child and it’s still my favourite. The smell takes me right back to childhood.

Julia001 · 07/03/2022 18:00

I still love and use lifebuoy. Have to mail
Order it but o feel very fresh and properly clean.

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 07/03/2022 19:27

I used to love the Nesti Dante ones too but like others have said, they’re too big and when I tried to cut it in half I nearly lost a finger 🙈

I like buying locally from craft markets etc and have found these to be some of the best I’ve ever tried…the soaps are amazing, they have a lovely range of products

Kew Gardens soap - shop.kew.org/beauty-and-toiletries/kew-soap

Lovely scent not too strong, creamy, last for ages.

Gonnagetgoing · 07/03/2022 19:40

Sen spa relaxing soap is nice but also Le Petit Marseillais. Oh and the L'Occitane ones are lovely too.

BookWorm45 · 07/03/2022 19:56

Pears soap always. The blue or green options are great

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/03/2022 19:59

Friendly soap - any smell, and Faith in Nature rosemary.

@blublub

I love the olive Palmolive. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and leaves it moisturised.

My favourite too.

Thehonestybox · 07/03/2022 20:12

Dr Bronners. They're really creamy, like a less powdery version of a dove bar

mizu · 07/03/2022 20:29

I love the Pears soaps but neither of my DD teens will go near them.

And the Dove soap is lovely but lasts about 5 mins in this house Grin

Faith in Nature might be my next try.

HarrietsweetHarriet · 07/03/2022 20:46

Savon de Marseilles is lovely. Miele is my favourite and makes the bathroom smell gorgeous.
There is also a brand called something like Art.Co, which has various products, including beautifully scented soaps, made by people with learning difficulties so you're supporting a great cause. Their chocolate is also delicious. The packaging is beautifully designed and fully recyclable.

Cien soap from Lidl.

I found this site through a mumsnet Christmas thread. I’ve ordered their goat milk soap and shampoo and it’s great. Small English company tooSmile

  • aromavita oregano soap
  • and (I know most of MN hate this brand...) Lush do a Rose & Oregano one that I absolutely love ‘13 Soap Unlucky For Dirt’
My soap budget is more like Imperial Leather multipack, 😂 so I only buy these as a personal treat.

Mine too, amazing aren't they?

There are some beautiful handmade siaps, but I don't seem to be able to use them. I have soft water, and it turns handmade soapnto sludge Sad

Sounds like they're not being cured for long enough before use.

Are you letting them drain and dry? We have very soft water and don’t have this problem, I’ve used bar soap, often handmade, for years.

@Sakura7

Also TK Maxx usually have some small french soaps in a tin for travelling. The tins are very cute.
Second this.

The tins hold the scent in between uses and you get a lovely waft of them when you open it.
