Can you recommend me your bar soap?

Since converting to bar soaps, I have tried quite a few but my favourite is definitely the Nesti Dante Fig and almond. I wanted to like some of the others as they sounded so nice and tried the coconut one and the mandarin ones but really wasn’t keen on the smell!

I’d quite like a smaller sized one for travelling (I know I could just cut it up) as the Nesti Dante ones are quite big and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for smaller soaps that smell fab?!

I buy the multipacks of Nesti Dante from Amazon. They're slightly smaller bars. They can be chopped in half with a big sharp knife.

I got some beautiful goat's milk soap at a craft fair, they are gorgeous, my favourite at the moment is the Sage & Seasalt, the smell is divine

Another vote for Neste Dante too.

Can someone recommend an EBay seller for the Savon de Marseille please? There’s lots on EBay!

Tanfastic · 06/03/2022 19:48

I swapped from shower gel to soap a couple of years ago and like one that gives a good lather (so I can shave with it) and smells nice too. Tried a few and good old Dove comes up trumps for me.

isthismylifenow · 06/03/2022 19:48

I love nice smelling soaps and have a great collection of nesti Dante and Savon de Marseille. Also some locally made graepfuit, Berry and other exciting ones. But I can only use them for hand soaps. Unfortunately I get thrush if I use in the shower. So I have to use boring old unscented soap to wash with.

The plus side to this is that it will take a very long time to get through my collection.

When I see them on offer I usually buy to keep to give as gifts. I've not managed to gift any yet. I haven't the heart to part with them. My underwear draw contains more soap than underwear.

@MooMinCow I buy from www.frenchsoaps.co.uk

MooMinCow · 06/03/2022 20:00

Good old Pears original

ScarlettDarling · 06/03/2022 20:04

Another vote for Pears. 70p and smells sooooo clean!

Erictheavocado · 06/03/2022 20:06

I also buy the Nesti Dante soapd from amazon and just cut them in half - they are quite soft, so easy to cut.

PepaMadrigal · 06/03/2022 20:06

I bought Nesti Dante based on recommendations from MN and I’m a bit disappointed! I find them really drying and the scent very weak. I’ll check out some of the others mentioned here.

I've always used Roger and Gallet soap but I'm so disappointed that my favourite Carnation one is no longer available.

loislovesstewie · 06/03/2022 20:23

We buy Aleppo soap (on Amazon). It's olive oil and laurel, lathers really well, and you can wash your hair with it too.

I love Aleppo soap :) reminds me of childhood (my family is from that part of the world).

I’m using the Body Shop soaps at the moment (bought 3 or 4 to try out). I also love Dove. There are some soaps that my mum bought me years ago but I can’t remember the brand of them! Typical!

PenOrPencil · 06/03/2022 20:31

As recommended on here, every soap I have had from Chateau du Savon chateaudusavon.com/ has been wonderful.

StPaulandTheBrokenBones · 06/03/2022 20:48

I buy my soap from here

www.wideye.co.uk/collections/soap

They smell lovely and you get a good lather too.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 06/03/2022 20:50

Cidal. Grapefruit scented, but not overwhelmingly so...

louderthan · 06/03/2022 21:14

@CarpeVitam

Johnson's Baby Soap! 😁
Yes, I got a lovely honey scented one from Morrison's once but haven't been able to find it since. I'm a fan of Pears, I find glycerine soaps less drying
Teadrinker11 · 06/03/2022 21:18

I was given a Loccitane bar soap for Christmas, very nice. The one with Shea Butter.

missbunnyrabbit · 06/03/2022 21:22

I've always used Dove, it's good on my sensitive skin. Plus it has a nice smell and good lather.

IggyAce · 06/03/2022 21:23

Scottish soap company, they come in a tin great for travelling. I pick them up in tkmaxx, I love the Scottish raspberry one.

DidgeDoolittle · 06/03/2022 21:24

@Sakura7

French Savon de Marseille soaps are great and come in lots of different scents. eBay is a good place to get them outside of France.
Seconded. Just be careful if you get them on eBay. Make sure that they're not Chinese knock offs. I get mine online from "the French soap company ". They're excellent.
gogohm · 06/03/2022 21:25

The Shetland soap company make lovely soaps and it's a social enterprise too. The peerie soaps are the little ones (peerie means small)

shellybon · 06/03/2022 21:30

Penhaligons is lovely

pawpaws2022 · 06/03/2022 21:41
