I’m a 40 ye old slightly overweight woman. No, my name isn’t Karen.
I work in retail, so don’t have to think about a professional style.
I’ve always wanted to get my hair cut short, and really like this. What do you think?

Avoid big time op. Pictures like these are generally photoshopped and never have I seen anyone with hair short like this that actually looks like this/looks good.

I think in order to pull off a short cut like this, you need to be very slim with a slim, long neck, no double chin and tall. Age not so much a problem. Let's face it, unless you're a model - which the vast majority us aren't, I would not get this cut.

A graduated, layered, short bob like this on fine hair will fall flat. Unless you're happy to blow dry properly every day. This is high maintenance.

Another buying into the whole 'Karen' shite.

Sorry I don't think it would work.

It's one of those styles that only suits 20 year old twigs. I remember Frankie Saturdays cut that was similar that everyone loved but in reality it works on about 3% of women.

Sorry OP!

You know it's only hair, you will not be any older or fatter because you chose to try a short hair style!

For years I thought being on the bigger side meant I had to have long hair, I'm already not towing the standard attractiveness line by being overweight so short hair felt like a big no.
Guess I was wrong because having tried a graduated bob before lockdown, I came to realise I love having short haur and most shocking of all... it actually suits me.

Just this week I've had it cut the shortest I've ever had it. It's like a long, layer pixie cut. If people thinks it makes me look older who cares and if they judge me for it so what! It's so easy to style, it dries in minutes and it's a lot softer around my face than scaping it back into a pony tail.

I say sod what people think, if you want to try short hair then go for it. Worst case you don't like it and grow it out, hardly the end of the world and you'll learn something new about yourself in the process.

Vicky McClure has had several variations of short hair. (She has thick hair and is stunning of course). But might give some inspiration for the mere mortals looking to get the chop.

I am currently growing out this sort of style. It's really pretty in that picture and when meticulously styled it looks great, but I just don't have the time. Back to a long bob for me!
