I’m a 40 ye old slightly overweight woman. No, my name isn’t Karen.
I work in retail, so don’t have to think about a professional style.
I’ve always wanted to get my hair cut short, and really like this. What do you think?

Sorry OP but if you have fine hair (as I do) your hair will not look like that no matter how much root lift you put in. That's also been styled by a professional and tweaked to perfection for that photo.

Nelliephant1 · 02/03/2022 19:12

Love it

It's a no from me as well I'm afraid. It's been really "styled" in that photo. I think this cut would look cool on someone young (ie 20's) with an overall edgy style. But on older women it just looks a bit blergh, sorry!

Octomingo · 02/03/2022 19:21

And you would spend your whole day curling your lip up to blow the hair off your left eye. My hair looks great when it's flopping over an eye, but I can't fucking see, which kind of spoils the effect.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 02/03/2022 19:24

I saw this cut and loved it, but as I’ve also got fine hair my lovely hairdresser disabused me of the notion.

DetailMouse · 02/03/2022 19:28

I love the idea of a textured bob, but the reality is always flat boring middle aged mum on me.

It looks fine in the photo, but the reality might be high maintenance, in terms of styling and blow-drying, etc

MarshaBradyo · 02/03/2022 19:33

It looks good in the model, with the colour too but I’d be worried it wouldn’t translate well

Motnight · 02/03/2022 19:35

I will never understand women repeating and using derogatory terms about other women.

It's shit.

LizzieSiddal · 02/03/2022 19:35

What’s this “it will look like a Karen haircut!” What the fuck is that?!

LightsoftheNorth · 02/03/2022 19:36

It's bad enough men using Karen as misogynistic slur, but I really can't get my head round women doing it too.

No.
It will be a nightmare to style. Short hair can be deceptively high maintenance and time-consuming.

DonttouchthatLarry · 02/03/2022 19:40

For all those saying this won't work with fine hair - please share some photos that would! I too have fine hair and would like a maintenance free style - the most I do is blast it with the dryer while my head is upside down Grin.

theveryhungrycatapillar · 02/03/2022 19:40

It's lovely but beware shorter cuts like that tend to make your face look rounder. I regrettably decided to have my hair cut shorter recently and resembled jimmy krankie! It is only hair though and it's already growing back

BatonRouge · 02/03/2022 19:41

A very difficult hair to grow out too.

BatonRouge · 02/03/2022 19:41

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 02/03/2022 19:42

It’s a cracking haircut. As in, the hairdresser who cut THAT hair for THAT photo knew what they were doing and had a great model.

Do you have a similar, sharp, jawline? Hair with the same highlights and texture? Volume? The time to style it? Because if you don’t, (and the jawline is absolutely vital), It would look like shit on a day to day basis.

cansu · 02/03/2022 19:45

I think short hair is actually v hard to get right. It is more tricky. I like the style but I would get advice from hairdresser about the cut with your hair type and also consider time and skill level for everyday.

Bluesheep8 · 02/03/2022 19:45

What’s this “it will look like a Karen haircut!” What the fuck is that?!

Exactly - I've already asked who Karen is,I don't get it either

ENoeuf · 02/03/2022 19:46

Everyone had this hair cut about 7 years ago. It will look dated and I think it is flattering only to beautiful young things having seen it in action.

AngelinaFibres · 02/03/2022 19:48

@Bookaholic73

Thanks for the feedback.

I’d definitely need a good root lift powder, as I have quite fine hair.

I have this haircut and a similar colour. I am 56. Very easy to manage. The 'bedhead ' range of products are really good for fine hair. You can get them on amazon.

I found that a messy bob with a few layers worked well with my hair (which is fine but there's quite a lot of it). I'd put mousse in when damp and blast upside when nearly dry - no brushing!
