Comfortable white trainers?

Please help me find some that are actually comfortable and look good! This seems like it should be such an easy ask, trainers are the most comfortable shoes to become fashionable in my life but somehow I'm still struggling. To give context, the only shoes that I have ever found truly comfortable are Birkenstocks. I have really awkward feet!

I have tried so many and found them too narrow at the toes or agonising at the back - I had a pair that shredded my heels so badly the blood soaked the whole back of the shoe and stained them.

The best I have are a pair of canvas sneakers from Toast but I'd really like a leather pair for easier cleaning. Also the soles don't give great support for longer walks.

My holy grail is half sizes (6.5) white leather trainers with a wide rounded toe and backs that don't rub the skin away (ouch!) - do they exist?

Converse or vans

interferingma · 19/02/2022 07:26

Air and Grace are the only ones I've found that look nice and that I can wear all day long right out of the box

I feel your (literal) pain OP, I also have very wide feet and sensitive heels. Have you tried Allbirds? Not leather but machine washable. Also have you tried inserting an orthotic? I find lifting my foot higher in the shoe sorts the heel issue as the back of the shoe then sits in the right place on the heel. I get it though, it’s so annoying when even a trainer hurts your feet. Sad

@Lazycatx

Converse or vans
I'm currently hovering over a pair of Vans actually! I had heard Converse aren't good for feet though.

That's a good idea! Thank you.

Looking these up now, thank you!

no problem - if you get a half sole orthotic it won’t affect the space at the front of the shoe.

NoOtherShadeOfBlue · 19/02/2022 07:38

I really like the Air and Grace - they're pretty expensive but I would pay £169 for shoes if they are genuinely comfortable.

My Nike AF1s are probably the comfiest trainers I've owned.

VanCleefArpels · 19/02/2022 07:42

Skechers or fitflop

Reluctantadult · 19/02/2022 07:43

Op, are you me?! You've described my holy grail too... I have tried converse (too short, too flat), vans (rubbed heal), saucony (too short, felt narrow), Brooks running trainers are ace but not the look I want, went back to skechers (rubbed heal).

Reluctantadult · 19/02/2022 07:44

Oh and adidas (too narrow).

Reluctantadult · 19/02/2022 07:45

Heel not heal - Where's my coffee...

littlefireseverywhere · 19/02/2022 07:46

Fitflop trainers super comfy

WhereAreWeNow · 19/02/2022 07:46

Fitflop Rally meet all your criteria. They're harder to find in half sizes but they definitely do exist because I've got a pair!

TokyoSushi · 19/02/2022 07:46

Also looking at for this holy grail! I have some adidas sleek, beautiful shoes, feel like my feet are actually in some sort of wooden vice! 😩

Itsnotdeep · 19/02/2022 07:47

I'm unusual in that I do find Veja's really comfortable, but can't wear Stan Smiths at all.

sleepwhenidie · 19/02/2022 07:48

Air and Grace are worth every penny.

Ohms11 · 19/02/2022 07:52

On trainers

Yes they're evil!
Reluctantadult · 19/02/2022 07:53

How do fitflop come up size wise?

NoOtherShadeOfBlue · 19/02/2022 07:56

Ok I'm between Fitflop Rally in 6.5 or Air and Grace in a 7...I like the look of A&G a bit better but I remember now that I have had fitflop shoes before that definitely were comfortable. I have both shoes in baskets, just trying to decide!

Depends on what look you’re going for @NoOtherShadeOfBlue 😊 as @cliffdiver has said - in terms of sporty brands, Nike AF1s are my comfiest trainers without a doubt!

My feet sound the same as yours except I’m a UK 6. I actually work in a shoe shop that specialises in fitting “hard to fit” feet 😊 other brands that come to mind for you would be Paul Green (higher end but look great!), Gabor (especially G fit styles), or for a slightly lower price point you should look at Remonte (they’re owned by Rieker but are usually leather rather than composites that Rieker tend to use. Tend to be about 30% wider over the widest part of the foot than a standard UK fit 😊)

It’s also worth noting that a European size 40 is actually a UK 6.5 but the vast majority of UK shops sell it as a UK 7 👍🏻

Joyfulflowers · 19/02/2022 07:57

Stan Smiths & Supergas are a good fit for my wide feet also have a pair of Air & Grace which are £££ but also fit well.

Have a look at New Balance too

NoOtherShadeOfBlue · 19/02/2022 08:00

@KPB45 that is so helpful!
