What is the most expensive body wash you have ever bought?

What was it and was it worth it or not? Literal money down the drain? I bought an Acqua di Parma shower gel last year. I've only used it once or twice since for obvious reasons. So nice but for the money I'd be keeping it as long as possible! I don't think it was worth it either. Maybe nice for a treat but there's a limit. What's the most expensive body wash you've ever bought and would you buy it again or not?

I’m currently using Korres shower oil which is £27 for 250ml, so not the most expensive on here by any means. It smells so amazing, and I think the daily cost is worth it.

I also prefer soap, particularly like clovelly soap

Flatandhappy · 19/02/2022 07:44

l'Occitane sweet almond here. DH buys it for me and I really like it. I also have the body butter and massage oil - feels like a treat.

@VaginaRegina

Ren Rose Otto shower gel is lovely, as is all the rest of that range. Totally agree with PPs that L'Occitane almond shower oil is also delicious.

I am still in mourning for Valobra soaps, which have been discontinued - the Balsalmo one was so, so good.

Ren Rose Otto is gorgeous. I had some once in an M&S box. I'd love to try it again.

I have some L’Occitane Almond oil given as a present. Bought some Molton Brown recently and I can’t use it as hate the smell.

zestyflavour · 19/02/2022 08:29

I bought an Ayurvedic shower gel from Goop - £38 Shock It foamed up beautifully but the smell was rank - because of this it lasted well over a year Wink

liveforsummer · 19/02/2022 09:20

Use it OP, things like shower gels eventually start to degrade once they are opened.

camperqueen54 · 19/02/2022 09:21

I'm a sucker for Molton brown

Fairislefandango · 19/02/2022 09:32

I've bought various fairly expensive ones in the past, including the L'Occitane almond stuff, which is lovely. I don't find the scent of any shower gel lasts much beyond getting out of the shower though, so I've decided it's not worth it. I use Nesti Dante bar soap now, and I actually find my skin feels nicer than when I used to use body wash/shower gel.

FizzyBizz · 19/02/2022 09:36

I also have the L’Occitane almond shower oil, but I only use it now & then.

Nivea shower creme £1 from Savers or bar soap most of the time for this cheapo Grin. I actually prefer a bog standard ‘clean & soapy’ smell for shower washes anyway.

I don’t really buy fancy body lotion either, unless I occasionally see a good sale price.

Now perfume…that’s another story Wink

Once a year I buy a L'occitane almond shower gel refill. I have little bottles I take on holiday/weekends away and it just adds a bit of additional luxury. I think a refil is about £19 or something

winnieanddaisy · 19/02/2022 17:34

I bought Chanel Chance body wash while I was in France to match my perfume . I loved it and it went a long way as it was very concentrated.

LadyNell · 19/02/2022 20:04

Korres I like too the Japanese rose one is really nice

LivingDeadGirlUK · 19/02/2022 20:53

I did once buy a big bottle of Body Shop shower gel which was I think £15. It did last ages.

MsAnnFrope · 19/02/2022 20:55

I love the Elemis revitalise me shower and bath gel. I also use Espa bath oils but only because my mum buys them for me

Theworldisquiethere · 19/02/2022 20:56

If you have something and never use it it’s no different to just not having it at all, use it and enjoy it! I use bar soap rather than shower gel and the most I’ll spend is £5 and only then if it’s a particularly nice one, usually just a bar of pears soap from savers!

Proseccoagain · 19/02/2022 21:36

I love Chanel Gabrielle.

TooWeirdToLiveTooRareToDie · 19/02/2022 22:30

I’m interested in using bar soap but I love a richly fragranced luxe gel like L’Occitane or Molton Brown.

The last time I used bar soap was probably in the late 80s, when they were “clean” smelling and made my skin all tight and itchy.

Any recs for a nice luxury, creamy bar soap that’s moisturising?

Fairislefandango · 19/02/2022 22:55

Nesti Dante (available on Amazon and sometimes in TKMaxx). I found that, while bar soap isn't really moisturising, as soon as my skin got used to it, it didn't need moisturising iyswim. My skin feels like it stays more balanced moisture-wise with bar soap.

HarrietsweetHarriet · 20/02/2022 01:20

Just marking my place to follow.

tinderswindler · 20/02/2022 06:09

Please use the lovely shower gel, you might as well stick £50 in a jam jar in your bathroom if you're not using it. What's the open expiration length? I always check this (it's a picture of an open tub with 3m or 12months etc) it helps hurry me along using things and not keep cosmetics that are off or contaminated.

Jo Malone soaps are lovely and I'm a fan of Acqua de Parma, the rose is devine.

smoothieooo · 21/02/2022 12:25

Aesop geranium leaf shower gel - it smells absolutely gorgeous, is nice on my sensitive skin and a 500ml bottle lasts for months and months (£33).

I was previously following it with a liberal coating of Laura Mercier body soufflé (£55) - the smell of which lasts all day, but I can't currently justify the expense!

QuizzicalEyebrows · 21/02/2022 14:23

I use up all my expensive items first now and never keep them just deteriorating on the side to the point that they go out of date or lose their potency.

JinglingHellsBells · 21/02/2022 16:32

I usually get Molton Brown for birthdays and Xmas.
Or Ren.
Sometimes L'occitaine.

It's a little luxury and a bottle lasts months.

I have found that cheaper shower gels are often very thin.

On a more budget-friendly level, Sanctuary are ok.

This made me snort. I think we've all been there. Just hoping it didn't smell of GP's hoo-ha!
