What is the most expensive body wash you have ever bought?

What was it and was it worth it or not? Literal money down the drain? I bought an Acqua di Parma shower gel last year. I've only used it once or twice since for obvious reasons. So nice but for the money I'd be keeping it as long as possible! I don't think it was worth it either. Maybe nice for a treat but there's a limit. What's the most expensive body wash you've ever bought and would you buy it again or not?

@Ra12345

Just use it op. You might drop dead tomorrow and leave half a bottle behind. How sad. Life is too short to save anything for best.
Definitely this.

I didn’t know Rituals counted as posh. Agree that they’re lovely !
My favorite is the sakura line, the orange (Buddha?) line is great too.

headintheproverbial · 17/02/2022 14:06

I recently bought a soap on a rope from Liberty for £30+. It's lovely.

lenalove · 17/02/2022 14:35

Elemis! I've been trying to use it up as slowly as possible!!

ShirleyPhallus · 17/02/2022 14:37

I use Le Labo bar soap which is £30/35 a bar but makes eberything smells gorgeous and lasts much longer than shower gel

TheMeditativeRose · 17/02/2022 16:44

Dr Hauschka when they still did a floral one, it was about £13-15 iirc. Yes, it was worth it.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 17/02/2022 16:50

Creed Spring flowers shower gel £85. It is nice, but no better than Diptyque which is about £35.

Did that cheer you up, OP?

I like fancy soaps like Hebridean soap company, and korres shower gel

UserError012345 · 17/02/2022 18:53

Elemis Skin Nourishing. It's smells like baby wash but for adults. It's lush.

HeadNorth · 17/02/2022 18:59

Nice shower oil is gorgeous and counts as expensive to me - definitely an occasional treat.

HeadNorth · 17/02/2022 19:00

Nuxe shower oil - not nice. Although it is nice.

Lookingoutside · 17/02/2022 23:33

Sisley Eau De Campagne. It was £45 but I did put a £25 gift card towards it. I wouldn’t spend that to get it again but was gorgeous.

The fragrance was like a wet garden. In a good way!

TheFlis12345 · 17/02/2022 23:38

Use it! I have been given some lovely expensive ones that I rarely used and kept for special occasions, and once opened the scent fades rapidly over time.

TabithaTittlemouse · 17/02/2022 23:42

Le Labo patchouli is heavenly and totally worth it.

RosesAndHellebores · 17/02/2022 23:44

L'Occitane verbena as a treat. DH is very fond of lovely bar soap.

Gnomechomsky · 17/02/2022 23:46

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

Use it.

I bought a Penhaligons one in a gift set with a perfume. It smells incredible, but it's definitely not worth anywhere near what they usually charge for it.

I use Penhaligons Halfeti because I love the smell, I think it's worth it as it makes me feel good.
GeraneousGiraffe · 17/02/2022 23:47

Nuxe is my treat. I got hooked after it was in a m&s advent calendar.

Ra12345 · 18/02/2022 01:10

Ha, sorry! Meant as seize the day! Seriously, what are you waiting for. Smell fabulous NOW.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/02/2022 04:27

@Gnomechomsky Mine is the Halfeti. The smell is absolutely incredible and I love the perfume, but won't buy the body wash again. I hoped it would make millions of lush bubbles which would make me feel like Cleopatra. In fact, for the money I think I expected it to give me a foot massage and rub my back for me whilst I bathed, too.

sjxoxo · 18/02/2022 04:54

I bought a Diptyque shower gel for when I went into hospital to have my baby boy. Best shower of my life!!!! X

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 18/02/2022 06:01

L’Occitane Almond. But nothing imo beats the smell of Waitrose camomile bar soap at 40p.

DedalusBloom · 18/02/2022 07:31

I use Soap in the shower but I pick up Neste Dante from TK Maxx for that. I love the Cypress one.
Plain Radox for the bath - the Sleep Aromatherapy one is £1.99 for a litre and I love the smell so much it seems daft to buy anything else.

I do love the AromaWorks bath oils and grab those when they're on offer in TKMxx as I love essential oil type smells but don't think I would pay £35 for them though.

That said, I happily shell out £27 for Aesop Resurrection handwash because the smell is unparalleled, a bottle lasts 4 months and it makes me happy absolutely every time I use it.

LadyNell · 18/02/2022 07:44

I like Molton Brown but can't afford it. I buy bottles of Le Petit Marseilles shower cream from Amazon. Or I like Body Shop shower stuff and my good old go to is Pears liquid soap in a big pump bottle from Sainsburys for 3 quid. I.like bar soap.as well

Phyllis321 · 18/02/2022 07:49

Bar soaps make me feel cleaner than gels and are much better environmentally. I was given a litre bottle (!)of the l'occitane almond oil one which gorgeous. I personally prefer posh soaps though.
