What is the most expensive body wash you have ever bought?

What was it and was it worth it or not? Literal money down the drain? I bought an Acqua di Parma shower gel last year. I've only used it once or twice since for obvious reasons. So nice but for the money I'd be keeping it as long as possible! I don't think it was worth it either. Maybe nice for a treat but there's a limit. What's the most expensive body wash you've ever bought and would you buy it again or not?

I love fancy shower gel. If you only use a little bit every day then it lasts for ages and is a lovely mini "treat" every day so I don't think it's bad value for money. Better than spending £25 on a lipstick that you might wear twice a year, for example.

My favourites are Noble Isle and Cowshed but now I've read this thread I want to buy loads more!!

I love a luxe shower gel/body wash. Molton Brown eucalyptus in Winter and L’Occitane Verbena in Summer. I do use lots of cheap ones too. I don’t like to use the same one every day - I have loads in a cupboard Grin

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 18/02/2022 09:28

I love molton brown. But my new best find is the M&S Fragrance Society Bath and Shower stuff. Really good Molton Brown dupes, not just in terms of the immediate fragrance, but the quality as well, and £7.50 for 500ml. So much better than any of the other supermarket or Baylis and Harding knock-offs.

Gonnagetgoing · 18/02/2022 11:36

I have used Philosophy, Molton Brown and L'Occitane body washes and shower gels as well as Rituals ones. They are nice but nothing special.

Posh bar soaps much nicer.

Gonnagetgoing · 18/02/2022 11:39

@LadyNell

I like Molton Brown but can't afford it. I buy bottles of Le Petit Marseilles shower cream from Amazon. Or I like Body Shop shower stuff and my good old go to is Pears liquid soap in a big pump bottle from Sainsburys for 3 quid. I.like bar soap.as well
@LadyNell - there used to be sold in a small supermarket in Brook Green (Hammersmith) Le Petit Marseillaise shower gels or would get parents to bring it back from their holiday home in SW France. They don't go there that much now bloody Brexit and Covid!

@DedalusBloom - TK Maxx is a great source for Nesti Dante and other posh shower gels and soaps and hair stuff.

I have been gifted occasionally the perfumed shower gel that comes eg with Chanel no 5 etc... I mean it's nice but I won't rush out to buy it!

Shower oils - Boots No 7 or Sanctuary are lovely to me and feel pampering.

pheonixrebirth · 18/02/2022 13:15

Elemis sharp shower is absolutely gorgeous. It has spearmint in it and it's just such a refreshing and uplifting scent. But I do hide it from my kids and use it only occasionally as a treat.

oldmums · 18/02/2022 18:53

i love neutrogena rain bath, sadly I think its been discontinued here. I had to ask a friend to buy it in New York.
still recovering from $20 , but its worth it as you only need a dot

peaceanddove · 18/02/2022 19:00

oldmums they sell huge bottles of Neutrogena Rainbath in Costco.

I love the Noble Isle ones because they somehow smell luxuriant but also very clean. Temple Spa shower gel is gorgeous too.

TheChosenTwo · 18/02/2022 19:14

L’Occitane almond shower oil is my daily shower product. It’s not that expensive in terms of what money can actually buy you but it’s more expensive than a £1 bottle of original source.
It’s not ‘worth it’ in terms of getting me any cleaner than something else. But I love the texture and the scent of it and the way it leaves me skin feeling silky smooth. The scent doesn’t last on me at all but scent doesn’t really stick to me full stop!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/02/2022 19:22

Neutrogena used to do one that was essentially like bathing in soluble aspirin. I loved the stuff.

Crimesean · 18/02/2022 19:25

I don't think shower gels wash properly - they don't clean as well as bar soap. I do use them sometimes, but as PPs have said, only to make me smell nice after washing properly.

Kyliealwayshadthebestdisco · 18/02/2022 19:42

I love the Neal’s Yard ones especially the sweet orange and geranium one.

Kyliealwayshadthebestdisco · 18/02/2022 19:43

Also Elemis frangipani shower cream is lovely

Same. I use bar soap all over first and then a nice shower gel or oil to add scent/moisture

My favourite smell but I can never get it to later on my poof thing!
CountryMouse22 · 18/02/2022 20:06

Chanel Coco but I ask for it as a present.

noodlezoodle · 18/02/2022 20:39

Molton Brown templetree - smells absolutely incredible and lasts a lot longer than I'd initially expected.

stevalnamechanger · 18/02/2022 20:42

I used to think it was a waste of money now I love the experience .

Jo Malone, and it ain't worth it, money down the drain!

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 18/02/2022 21:52

I've bought my mum a Chanel bar of soap and that was pure luxury, she loved it

woodhill · 18/02/2022 21:54

Yes I like that one

I treated myself to a molten brown one, haven't used yet but they last a long time

gingerhills · 18/02/2022 22:09

Neal's Yard geranium. It's about £18 which doesn't sound extortionate but only seems to last for about 4 showers.

Ponks · 18/02/2022 22:17

At Christmas I treat myself to a Lush Snow Fairy candyfloss-smelling shower gel, and a Fresh shower gel in one of their sugary scents. Very expensive but a lovely treat for myself. The rest of the year it's £1 supermarket shower gels, which are fine, but the Fresh one feels much more luxurious.

VaginaRegina · 18/02/2022 22:54

Ren Rose Otto shower gel is lovely, as is all the rest of that range. Totally agree with PPs that L'Occitane almond shower oil is also delicious.

I am still in mourning for Valobra soaps, which have been discontinued - the Balsalmo one was so, so good.
