Lip fillers

Sorry if this has been done to death before! I'm new to this section.

I'm 40 and considering getting lip fillers. I'm generally against any work to my face apart from eyebrow definition but would love my top lip to look a bit fuller. However I'm so wary of ending up with an irreversible trout pout!!

Also scared of what's in the stuff Confused and what I'd be injecting my body with (whether it's harmful long term).

Has anyone got any positive/negative experiences to help me make a decision?

Thanks x

NIOD have a great product called lip bio lipid concentrate. It's about £40 a bottle.

You smear it on before bed and wake up with fuller lips.

I would recommend it to anyone who would like their lips plumped a little more naturally.

I had 1ml of filler in my extremely thin lips. It just highlighted that they weren’t perfectly symmetrical and I had to go back for more to try and balance them out. Even with that tiny amount I developed the tell tale shadow above my top lip. When the light catches my lips a certain way I can see a faint white line where I presume the needle deposited the filler. It also hurt like a bitch! I don’t plan on doing it again.

What about trying Botox for a lip flip treatment ?

Far more conservative

Actually 1 ml in lip filler volume is quite a lot

Sorry to jump on this post but just in case others are reading this and go to visit people who will encourage them to go with 1ml - that's far from a 'tiny amount' when it comes to lip fillers especially if you do want them to look natural.

0.5ml would be where most sensible and conscientious practitioners would start with a new client especially if they have 'extremely thin lips' to start with.

Does it sting or tingle? I think I have used similar products in the past that plump by "irritating" the lips a bit and wasn't keen on the sensation just before bed! X

Dont do it. I know plenty who have and its so obvious. They don’t stop at the lips. They look ridiculous.

My friend’s DD is 30 and has them done. Her top lip is huge and curls up and she looks a right mess. Sad thing is, she has huge MH issues and think she looks ugly. Remove this fillers and lashes and she is a beautiful. These things are ruining people and these “clinicians” are milking these women,

BigButtons · 12/02/2022 18:51

I’ve had them, bloody live the results. I am 54 and have always had really thin lips, getting older just made them worse. Now I look like I have normal size lips and can enjoy lipstick. Mine don’t stick out at all.

BigButtons · 12/02/2022 18:55

Also op my filled lips have the same volume as yours do now. I don’t think you need fillers!

peoplearepeople · 12/02/2022 18:58

Another one saying not to do it. I think your lips look lovely as they are.
The main thing I notice with people that have had it done is that whilst they can often look ok in still photographs and straight on, in movement when talking they just don't look great and are quite distracting. I find that's when you can really tell that people have had them.
I'd vote for keeping them hydrated and wearing a nice balm. I've found clear balms with a little bit of subtle shimmer make lips look much fuller.

MintyGreenDream · 12/02/2022 19:04

@lechatnoir I'm more them fine with that but they're aren't duck like like some people have a fear of.

YouDoYouHun · 12/02/2022 19:04

I'm 33 and got filler for the first time last year. Only regret is not getting it sooner. I feel so much more confident. I only had 0.5ml to start with and it just made them look 'hydrated'. 4 months later I had another 0.5ml once the initial had settled (with a softer premium filler that time) and they are perfect. No regrets. I won't have anymore put in now. Noone knows I have had them done. I have family/friends very against any sort of cosmetic procedures and not one person has noticed. A lot depends on where you go and I 100% trust who I see and her advice.

MintyGreenDream · 12/02/2022 19:05

@Onceuponadimebar my 69 year old hasn't noticed and he'd definitely mention it

MintyGreenDream · 12/02/2022 19:05

69 year old dad

slimshady18 · 12/02/2022 19:09

@inheritancetrack

I had this done once years ago. Told it would look nice and natural and not troutish. It looked awful and I almost hid away for 6 months.

If you want it doing get personal recommendations rapists who do a very subtle job.

well that took a turn
Howshouldibehave · 12/02/2022 19:22

I have seen so many people out today (at an indoor shopping centre) with lip fillers done-absolutely all of them looked dreadful. Your natural lips are beautiful-don’t mess with them!

SummerBluez · 12/02/2022 19:34

I love mine, no regrets at all. Gave me such a confidence boost.

Thats lovely work. You wouldn't know, they just look naturally perfect.
Lickinglemonsinloughborough · 12/02/2022 19:47

Leave them alone. Use some lip balm and then lip liners and lipsticks that you like instead - look up Lisa Eldridge lip videos for make up and care instead. You have beautiful shaped and proportional lips.

Lickinglemonsinloughborough · 12/02/2022 19:47

That was for op. @oneproudmumma

Cleopatra2022 · 12/02/2022 19:51

@youvegottenminuteslynn Yes sorry I should have clarified that it wasn’t all injected into my lips the first visit. I paid for 2ml over 3 visits and what wasn’t put in my lips was used on my marionette lines.

blurpinkyellow · 13/02/2022 12:21

Both the examples posted here are obvious. It's the balloon-like lip line that gives it away. They look like an allergic reaction - sorry!

RampantIvy · 13/02/2022 12:33

I hate to say it but I agree. If you have lip fillers you might as well own it because you won't kid anyone.

I must say that the lip tattoo that @Pacifica44 had done looks really well done and natural though. It is the lack of shiny swelling that makes it look so natural.

5128gap · 13/02/2022 12:44

The critical comments to the women who have posted their lip fillers are really unhelpful. The pictures are there, and we are all capable of judging for ourselves whether we think they look good/natural. Voicing negative opinions to women who have already said they are happy with their results so are not asking for your opinion, and have been good enough to share their pictures to help the OP decide, seems a bit spiteful to me. And might well put off other people from showing examples, which would be a shame.

RampantIvy · 13/02/2022 12:50

Or put women off undergoing the procedure in the first place?

I think you will find that most of the criticism isn't saying how horrible it looks, but how unnatural it looks, which is true.
