A manicurist told me that if I ate jello everyday, my hair skin and nails would be radiant. I did for a while… and it worked! My destroyed nails looked like claws and I had lots of baby hair!
My grandma was drinking everyday leek stock ( literally boiled leeks water) and had a stunning complexion well past 90.
What are yours?

Jelly’s very low in protein and very high in sugar which destroys collagen and elastin.

LutherRalph1 · 08/02/2022 07:46

My nan actually told me about jelly for nails years and years ago! She had such strong long nails

Toanewstart23 · 08/02/2022 07:48

No secret

Work out
Regular hair masks
Regular face masks
Really good and regular hair cuts and highlights
A professional to do my brows
Regular manicures and pedicures

In my forties
And I look (and feel) good

Enzbear · 08/02/2022 07:49

Lemon juice in warm water every morning- great for your skin.

NotJustACigar · 08/02/2022 08:02

Are there any foods with lots of jelly that are healthy with no sugar as my nails are a mess please.

Louisianagumbo · 08/02/2022 08:08

Try Asda hair, skin and nails. I couldn't believe the difference. You could literally see the before and after in my nails. The top half was ridged and never lay flat, the bottom half was flat and fairly smooth. You could see exactly where I had started taking the supplements. Amazing really.

Joyfulflowers · 08/02/2022 08:16

I remember eating 2 cubes of jelly a day when I was a teen - not sure it made any difference tbh. Stopping nibbling my nails did though!

I have no beauty secrets as such but do look after my skin
Always use spf
Fairly regular hair cut and colour (trying to go grey gracefully atm)
Fairly regular manicure/pedicure - either do myself or go to beautician
Brows nanobladed but before that regular brow shaping but would tint myself

Try to drink lots of water

violetbunny · 08/02/2022 08:45

Sunscreen every single day of the year from an early age, and always wear a hat outside if it's sunny.

Skinnymimi · 08/02/2022 10:21

Thanks for the Asda tip! I definitely wear the SPF. I am about to launch a batch of leek water and will update if I see results 😜

Sunscreen and exercise
Coconut oil to smooth and condition hair (ends)

DarlingCoffee · 08/02/2022 11:03

I think collagen is meant to help your nails grow so maybe try this as a supplement

usernolongerexists · 08/02/2022 11:12

a good diet, with plenty of vitamins, iron and protein, sunscreen, good skincare habits and now I'm over 40 I use a low dose of tretinoin two or three times a week. it's enough to keep me glowing without being harsh enough to appear as if I've had a chemical peel.

sleeping well, plenty of movement and doing what you can to manage stress.

the trick is small but consistent changes. no expensive cream will help if it's sitting on a shelf and while cosmetic procedures have their place, if you're looking to preserve what you have, there is lots you can do in terms of self care that will help.

doadeer · 08/02/2022 11:14

No secret tips but for me the key to glowing is

Good skincare routine with lots of hydration
CC cream instead of foundation
Lots of water
Lots of orgasms
Smile lots

☺️

kirkandpetal · 08/02/2022 11:15

The leek water......wasn't that in an episode of 'Emily in Paris'? That is was a staple of French ladies wanting to stay slim or something, can't remember exactly.

And if you haven't watched EIP, you need to. Just to drool over Paris, and the character Gabriel.

gingerhills · 08/02/2022 11:20

L-Tyrosine, which I started taking because it increases dopamine, to give you the drive to do stuff if you have low energy and motivation, has a side effect of giving you great nails and hair.

But my secret is facial tanning oil. I'm so pale I look grey in winter unless I use tanning oil once a week.

EraOfTheGrey · 08/02/2022 11:27

I use vaseline to remove my eye makeup and have done since I started wearing makeup in my teens. My eyelashes were thick and so very long and since I've stopped wearing makeup everyday they've gone back to a mere mortal height.
Coincidence or youthful advantage?

Theworldisquiethere · 08/02/2022 11:30

It’s the gelatin in jelly that’s good for skin hair and nails, I think taking collagen supplements would have the same effect if you don’t want to be consuming that much sugar

Theworldisquiethere · 08/02/2022 11:31

Using caffeine eye cream made my eyelashes grow!

Latara · 08/02/2022 11:42

I've taken Perfectil Hair vitamins and Holland & Barrett Gentle Iron 20mg capsules every day for approx 18 months.
My hair is much thicker & grows better, my nails are better & my skin looks clear.

LazyDoll · 08/02/2022 11:52

Eyelash serum!! Made my eyelashes mm’s longer, thicker and darker. No need for mascara now unless going ‘out out’. Also thickened and darkened my brows too. And Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream for dry lips (and hang nails/cuticles) is incredible too.

EraOfTheGrey · 08/02/2022 12:03

length not height

JMAngel1 · 08/02/2022 12:52

Tretinoin buffered with Cerave - how did I not use Cerave before now? It is unbelievable stuff - I was barely able to tolerate tretinoin once a week before (buffered with Weleda Skin Food so no moisturising slouch) but using it with Cerave, I'm up to every night within the space of a month - miraculous! Skin feels thicker, firmer and more lifted. Just the 0.025% for now but who knows!

hellololabells2019 · 08/02/2022 14:24

jmangel2015 which cerave?

hellololabells2019 · 08/02/2022 14:25

JMAngel1 name fail. Which Cerave do you use?
