37, style crisis, trainers, what's trendy, what's not?

I'm a 37 yo woman, not hugely fashionable as don't have time to be, I don't dress frumpy generally for my age, I wear skinny jeans a lot, & plain crew and v neck tees/ long sleev tops, people usually think I'm much younger 27/28, im a size 8, feel like I could be making more of myself and i know I'm not not making the most of being more fashionable but I'm crap with it! I Chuck on mostly black skinny jeans in winter with black and white sketcher summits slip on trainers which are comfy and practical! I don't have time to work out what would suit me then the time to match bits together to make an outfit, it takes ages then I get stressed and just go back to trusty skinny's with jeans. Prob fact I'm a mum to a 3yo & I just don't have the time but see many very fashionable woman my age & older! No idea how they do it with family too. Also read somewhere skechers are frumpy 👀 I don't want to rock frumpy but huge thick sole trainers are def too Uber trendy for me, so what brands/types of trainers sit best for my age but fact I look younger for my age? 🤦‍♀️

These are my currents I need to replace... they're so well rated and they aren't to me hugely unfashionable looking either or is that my age telling!!...🤷‍♀️

@Gonnagetgoing yes I have categorys specifically for what I'm doing with regards to any shoe & trainers too, I have a nice fashion black, pink and silver Im going to wear with joggers I've got abs love! Gonna get a shacket too a nice pink check one, everyday trainers I love my Nikes but they're not comfy so I'll go through the above links etc, living there new balance 373s found a pair but OOStock! 😩😂

I’m 36 op, similar to what a pp said, I don’t wear dark trainers, as think they look abit dated. My fave footwear are my New Balance trainers (they are multi coloured pastel) and my ecru hi top converse. Vans do lots of good colours combos with white too.

Back in the day (2000s?) I saw someone wear a really unusual pair of sage green/light green mixed NBs - really unusual at my train station, didn't ask her of course where she got them but found them in Portobello Road - I lived in Islington at the time. Wish I'd kept them now! I wasn't really a trainer girl back then but in late 80s had Italian Travel Fox High Tops which I loved - white.

My brother is a trainer geek and has loads including vintage!

Sod it - life is short - get the trainers! shacket will go perfectly.

Re trends - don't do what I did which is go on River Island after first lockdown, was bored and wanted to look younger (eg 20s!) order all sorts of trendy tops/t-shirts - hated the styles and quality and then returned the lot or too late so they went on Ebay/Charity shop!

Not skinny jeans with trainers.
If you must wear skinnies, pair them with the thick soled wellies that are popular.
Match your trainers with your outfit.
You can wash white trainers in machine. Pop them in a pillowcase and wash with towels. This is what we do.

Of course OP can wear skinnies with trainers if she wants to.

I would keep as far away from sketchers as humanly possible, that would be a start.

Are you me? I'm your age and just ordered these sketchers!
I have small feet and find them much more comfortable than the expensive nikes I spent £100 on that tore my heels to shreds.

Also if you are trying to look young I think new balance and vans are a no no too. I know they’re popular in here but i think they are very middle class and middle aged in a Boden/John Lewis kind of way.

I love my adidas ozweegos chunky and go lovely with my shackets . So comfy .

I wouldn't be seen dead in those Sketchers if I was elderly. You're 37, come on, woman!
