You’re not Joan Collins m8.
Why are planes such style issues on here but not in RL

Although the most changing I have ever seen on a plane was on the short hop from Brunei to Singapore where passengers boarded in full burka and disembarked in Chanel.

turnaroundtime · 06/02/2022 19:01

@TheHoptimist I lived in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore. I know the flights. First class PJs people got changed. Never really saw anyone else other than some kids

Zazdar · 06/02/2022 19:14

I can assure you that on red eyes to Asia getting changed is very common.

My experience too.

Zazdar · 06/02/2022 19:20

My experience too.

I’m saying that but there is usually a bit of a flurry in the hour or two before landing. The first people to do it are usually the cabin crew just before they turn all the lights back on.

A few many many years ago I got on a flight from a chilly -5 snowy Heathrow to Melbourne flight
It warmed up just past turkey 🇹🇷 I took my leggings off

Got to Melbourne at 3am and sat on a bench breathing in the warm heady air of what had been a 39c day

Lovely 🥰

BlairsWitch · 06/02/2022 20:03

How about an indoor scarf with a leopard print top 🤔

CoraPearl · 06/02/2022 20:10

@TheHoptimist

I would say that if someone is dressed up they are probably providing the girlfriend experience for a week (tip their shoes don’t fit as size 8 clothes go from woman to woman but shoes a little more tricky)
Haha, yes.

I think I'm the exception as I always wear a cashmere sweatshirt, slouchy trousers and Converse,/shearling lined Birkenstocks irregardless of if I am travelling alone or with the client

Lndnmummy · 06/02/2022 20:23

So I spend a disproportiante amount of time on "plane outfits". I've never thought of why I do this. I'm certainy not dressing up as such but I always plan for it. Comfort but not looking "undone" etc. Perhaps its the same reason I fret over a foundation holy grail (still looking!), the perfect nude lipbalm or the just right coral/red nail polish. Its an escapism of sorts, bit like mumsnetGrin

Goldilocks99 · 06/02/2022 20:41

It's a few reasons for me. Firstly, my first longhaul flight and my entire suitcase was lost. Stuck in an Asian country where the sizes are tiny with one pair of pants=not fun. So I now make sure I have something I can spend the first few days in plus some extra pants in handluggage.

Secondly, I want comfort and quickly discovered what's comfortable at other times is a living hell on a plane. Jeans fall into this category. I also tried to wear lace ups on my first flight. Not recommended. And then there's other things you don't think about unless you fly a lot; piercings, jewellery, mid flight breakouts (I get this terribly!)

Thirdly, planning and putting my travel outfit on is part of the excitement. Even now I look at my VS jersey trackies and remember great arrivals.

You sound a bit judgemental op.

SoupDragon · 06/02/2022 22:38

Yeah but the D- is specific to MN, always has been.

I've never seen that - what is it?

Most people haven't used M8 for mate since around 2004.

And never on MN. Txt spk? The horror!

Snoopsnoggysnog · 06/02/2022 22:42

I think the D- is referring to the DD, DH, etc

And that’s absolutely not specific to MN - other forums use it too

SoupDragon · 06/02/2022 22:44

Ah. No, that's not specific to MN at all.
