What are your favourite Aldi dupe beauty buys?

I was looking at some of the Aldi beauty dupes I have today and the joy there is in some guilt free inexpensive luxuries. I accumulated quite a few buys the last year. I love the Peony and Blush Suede dupe perfume, smells so gorgeous and to be able to use it every day! I have a beauty box as well, there are some lovely bits there! I also love any of the Jo Malone candle dupes. What are the best Aldi dupes you've bought over the years?

This used to have a green lid. I bought i5 as it had rave reviews as a dupe of Pixie

I love the cleansing balm - it's a dupe of the Emma Hardie one and actually I prefer the aldi one.

LeQuern · 05/02/2022 21:43

Thing is, they are not dupes. They may have the same / similar ingredients but a) not in the same volume or quantities or b) the same quality. Look up Caroline Herons on the subject.

LeQuern · 05/02/2022 21:44

(Not to say people can’t prefer the Aldi products. But dupes they are not.

LookdeepintotheParka · 05/02/2022 21:57

Ooh quite a few!

I've got quite a few of the Jo Malone perfume dupes and they are pretty good! The velvety rose one is particularly lovely.

Skincare wise I love the CBD serum which is incredibly light and non greasy. Also the overnight sleep gel. The hemp hand cream is really moisturising - have stocked up on this one.

I picked up a brilliant hair mask (Coco & Eve dupe) in their sale last year - wish I'd got more as it's the best I've used!

My DD loves the Too Legit benefit dupe mascara!

freckledsloth · 05/02/2022 23:03

The Lacura Pawpaw ointment and the Lacura intensive hand cream. Both excellent.

The entire point of dupes is that they are similar products but cheaper. This may be because they are smaller or slightly lower ‘quality’ Confused though given they all have to pass the same testing to sell their products, it’s really just down to what people are willing or not willing to pay. I personally think paying loads for the ingredients when you can pay so little is stupid. The cheaper ones usually have a very similar effect (or shade etc in terms of makeup) and you wouldn’t know the difference if you didn’t know the price!
Tillymintpolo · 05/02/2022 23:16

Their Q10 serum, it’s amazing

StrychnineIntheSandwiches · 06/02/2022 01:53

I always thought the dupe aspect was more to do with copying the packaging rather than the actual product.

ihaveonecat · 06/02/2022 02:11

The laura mercier bath dupe stuff is lovely and you don't need much of it

Influencers like Caroline Hirons entire existence depends on telling us to buy the expensive stuff. I use several 'dupes' of high end brands and they do exactly the same job in most cases.
Imabouttoexplode · 06/02/2022 07:55

@Tillymintpolo

Their Q10 serum, it’s amazing
It really is. I use it all the time.

The tarte shape tape dupe is good.

The even skin tone primer is as good as Benefit Porefessional.

The radiance primer is ok but not even close to as good as Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter.

I recently bought some of the Korean beauty dupes and they're rubbish. Really not worth the money and being used on my legs now.

Bagelsandbrie · 06/02/2022 08:02

I love their q10 range.

Of course the designers and luxury brand people are going to tell us the dupes aren’t the same quality etc etc. It’s not rocket science. I worked for Clinique for 15 years and the minute I left and stopped receiving the 65% staff discount I stopped bothering to buy their stuff, overpriced and you can get the same quality for a fraction of the price with other brands. Even when I worked there a lot of us used to buy cheaper eyeshadows and foundations as even with the discount it wasn’t worth the money. Just because something is cheaper or more expensive doesn’t make it good or bad, half the time with the luxury stuff you’re paying for the branding, the staff and the merchandising.

@StrychnineIntheSandwiches

I always thought the dupe aspect was more to do with copying the packaging rather than the actual product.
Lots of people have videos on YouTube or TikTok doing, for example, one side of their face in the expensive product & the other half in the dupe to compare.

Aldi make up & skin care always holds up well against the expensive products such as benefit, pixie etc. It’s isn’t just the packaging. No one would buy it and recommend it if the product was rubbish.

The eyeshadows in the velvet case are very good not the ones in the tin case though. Rose perfume is very good

Totalwasteofpaper · 06/02/2022 08:11

The q10 stuff is decent and their pen /felt tip eyeliner is really good.

Their brow gel is terrible.

picklemewalnuts · 06/02/2022 08:13

Would you be able to specify the Aldi name of the product? I don't know the dupes, so I don't know which Aldi product matches IYSWIM. I need a perfume, though.

I buy the pineapple serum, the active ones (plumping, gold, hyaluronic acid etc) the rose oil, and the pixie glow one.

I can assure you without any doubt at all, they definitely work much better if you actually use them! Very bad at good habits.

indigoemerald · 06/02/2022 08:18

I found that the Pixie Glow Tonic caused lots of breakouts on my skin, but the Aldi dupe didn’t!

About 4 years ago they had a charcoal cleanser which was a dupe for this: www.boots.com/glamglow-supercleanse-clearing-cream-to-foam-cleanser-10242477. It worked brilliantly and I’m so upset that they’ve never sold it since!

gogohm · 06/02/2022 08:24

I'm on lidl dupes mostly (closer) eg take Aussie shampoo, but I've got the Aldi caviar face moisturiser and Aldi fake cooo Chanel madamoiselle. Kids swear by their make up, I barely wear make up so do tend to wear brands (but as I only went to one lady at one stand in Debenhams I might change loyalty now)

Callmecordelia · 06/02/2022 08:28

I like the jelly cleanser, cbd serum, the miracle oil and peptide moisturiser.

Also love the cc cream.

userxx · 06/02/2022 08:30

I've bought loads recently, latest purchase is their blusher which are nars dupes. I love their toners, bought a mix of 3 for a tenner. The rose oil is amazing, my skin feels so much smoother and more hydrated, the eye cream in the green pot is good too. Love the rose water, not tried the vitamin c serum yet. Not tried the cleaner yet.

Gardeningcreature · 06/02/2022 08:36

Inthesameboat I was going to ask about the eyeshadows, not that I need any, just discovered some pallets I bought in the sales, along with the 3 pallets I had forgotten about.
I bought their mascara but don't like it, it smudged everywhere.
I use their hot cloth cleansers, using the pineapple one and it's very good.

AllTheYoungGoodyTwoShoes · 06/02/2022 08:36

Following to get some ideas! I have been using the face moisturisers for a while, currently have the red Lacura one with SPF 30 which I think is great.

crazyjinglist · 06/02/2022 08:38

I love their Cleanse and Polish dupes, the Caviar moisturisers and their night facial oil. Also the retinol toner.

I think the point about whether they have the same level of so-called active ingredients as the more expensive original product is irrelevant if you've tried the dupe and it works as well as the original. If anything it just proves that the high end companies are just charging extortionate prices for their name, packaging and ingredients which may not really actually do much!

Positivelypatient · 06/02/2022 09:00

Lacura Moisture Boost, its a dupe of Cliniques Moisture Surge. They haven't had it since early last year and I've run out, i look for it every time I go but it's never there. I hope they haven't stopped producing it but think it's probably the case. Might have to resort to ebay.
