Are wool coats totally out of fashion at the moment?

Looked around me today and it dawned on me that I am the only woman I seem to see who wears a wool (I guess sort of 'smart') winter coat now - absolutely everyone else I see is wearing a parka or puffa (mostly the latter). I'm just asking out of curiosity - I love my coat, I'm not ditching it - am I very out of style? I sort of thought a wool coat was a classic that couldn't go in or out but am I wrong?

While googling I have just seen my three quarter length coat on the Costco website. I wn't post a picture because the image doesn't do it justice, but I am really happy with it.

That is a very excellent coat @KimDeals, crisply modern, smart and stylish.

I have a Burberry Daylesmoore coat (camel colour, wool, slightly military) but I must admit it hasn't been out once this winter or last. Partly due to toddler and partly because I prefer blending in in my market town in my black parka with big pockets.

If I were still doing things like coffee in Bath or dinner out, I would wear it.

I own 4 wool coats and one puffer. I choose the wool coats unless it's really cold. The puffer is so warm, so I can't be without it, but I feel more dressed in a wool coat.

On the strength of this thread I actually bought another wool coat (longer, navy) as my others were above the knee (I'm tall) and I do feel the looser, longer ones look more modern.

I'm in London FWIW

This is the nearest image I can find of my coat, but the piicture makes it look like it is old and tatty. I am wearing it a lot just now if I go into town or shopping. It is 3 degrees here today with a very cold wind and I didn't find it that warm in my coat.

I don't know... I've been wearing the same coat since I was 19 Grin

I recently acquired this exact coat from a charity shop the other week for a tenner (I mean one exactly the same, mine is not for sale on vinted). I don't care if it's out of fashion, it's lovely.

I wear a full length grey wool coat I brought from a vintage store a few years ago. A Seasalt raincoat for the wetter days. I do not care of I am in fashion. I like it Grin.

@LaurieFairyCake

I've literally just bought a camel knee length Max Mara coat

It's gorgeous

Me too, Maxmara classic camels will never be out of fashion.

I wore my old but fab quality navy Jaeger long wool coat on a rare trip to London a fortnight ago and was complimented several times by strangers and was also accosted by a news crew in Whitehall who mistook me for someone else ( I think) so guessing classic still has a certain establishment aura, not that I was aiming for that!

I have wool cashmere coat for 15 years its kept for going out nights out funerals it sets of a outfit compared to an ordinary cioatt and what you are wearing it what you feel confortable with and suits you

I am a coat addict. All wool. I buy them second hand. I don't really care about fashion on most things - obviously some things get through to me slowly through getting used to a new look on others and in the media. To me, wool coats, well cut and made, are just classic. But then I think that about most clothes.

Same with interior design. I find it strange when people go for fashionable gardens or kitchens. I do get a lot of compliments for my clothes and house. I am 55 though so maybe it is something I have grown into.

I was in London today and noticed a lot more smart wool coats than casual puffa/parker style.

Yes, when you wait for a while all your nice things come back into fashion! I got my new (to me) bright red wool and cashmere coat delivered yesterday (well, I didn't have a bright red one!) Cost £20 on eBay. Going to wear it to visit my daughter in Amsterdam in a couple of weeks. I reckon I'm going to look pretty swanky.
