Do people wear necklaces to bed?

Hi, quick one: do you wear necklace to bed? I ordered a gorgeous piece from aurum and grey- little gold chain with 2 tiny letters for my kids names. I work from home and with covid I don’t go out anymore so if I only wear it “out” then I won’t wear it at all! And it’s expensive so would love to wear it al the time. What do others do?

I have 3 dangling plectrums also inscribed with my dcs names and wear mine 24/7 unless I can't figure out in the mirror what way I need to flip the chains to untangle them Grin or if I'm getting properly dressed up and need a proper necklace.

MindyStClaire · 18/01/2022 09:25

I used to as a teen but they'd get tarnished from going in the shower. These days I only do it if I forget to take something off.

I put my watch, glasses, wedding rings etc together and put everything on together the next day. Do you have anything like that? Put it with your bra?!

Alayalaya · 18/01/2022 09:26

I don’t wear jewellery in bed. Why would you? You can’t see it and there’s a risk of breaking it.

Shinyandnew2022 · 18/01/2022 09:26

Yep I would wear it too.
I have slept in jewellery all my adult life as like you I probably would t get round to wearing it otherwise.
There are some I wear that need taking off but then I go back to the one DH gave me on our wedding day which is smooth and robust !

Kookookachuu · 18/01/2022 09:29

Yes I never take my necklace, engagement ring or wedding ring off. I do take earrings out because they’re uncomfortable and I don’t have a special pair of earrings anyway.

TenThousandSpoons · 18/01/2022 09:29

I keep rings, watch and earrings on in bed but I wouldn’t sleep in a necklace. I think because it’s likely to be more delicate and get broken, or I’d worry about it tightening on my neck. But I hardly ever wear necklaces, maybe for this reason. If I kept it on I’d wear it automatically kind of thing.

I have a necklace I wear all the time, even in bed, it has a religious pendant on it and my mother's engagement ring.

Tal45 · 18/01/2022 09:34

Mine would get all tangled in my hair I think. I wouldn't wear one all the time but I'm sure people do. You could just put it on every morning when you get dressed though.

daisyjgrey · 18/01/2022 09:38

I sleep in all my jewellery. A set of tiny hoops, a pair of flat gold studs, 3 rings, a necklace and a watch. I'd never remember to put them on again if I took them off. And I'd always forget to take them off in the first place if I was supposed to!

happysunr1se · 18/01/2022 09:40

I have a solid gold interlocking bead necklace I wear 24/7. It has an S clasp so I dont want to bend it too much. Been wearing it for 7 years now.
Any other jewelery gets taken off at bedtime.

ScatteredMama82 · 18/01/2022 09:42

Yep I wear a necklace all the time, never take it off except when I dye my hair!

Bluemamma · 18/01/2022 09:42

Thanks everyone! I do agree it’s best to take it off for the night but honestly with a toddler and a newborn I can’t be bothered to take it off and then put it on every morning. I know it’s just never gonna happen. I did it with my wedding band and engagement ring and ended up not wearing them since covid and working from home :) just couldn’t be bothered every morning.

I wear my necklaces all the time: three silver charms on two silver chains. Wedding rings go on and off for the gym (perimenopause seems have ramped up contact dermatitis) and earrings come out for bed but if I ever find a forever pair of gold hoops I'd sleep in those.

QuizzicalEyebrows · 18/01/2022 10:03

Yes I do. I have a thin silver chain with a small flat silver pendant on it that wear 24/7. I wear other necklaces on night out etc but still always wear this one

stingofthebutterfly · 18/01/2022 10:06

Can't be bothered to take it off and put it on? It takes like 3 seconds! I have a necklace that I wear everyday. It comes off at night and goes back on in the morning. I'd hate to break it in bed or damage it in the shower.

DillDanding · 18/01/2022 10:07

I wear a necklace to bed. I very rarely take it off.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 18/01/2022 10:08

I never take any of my jewelry off. Rings, bracelets, necklaces and piecings

I am physically unable to put my own earrings in or necklace on. So it takes a lot more than 3 seconds if the only person in the house is one of my young DC
FiveShelties · 18/01/2022 10:09

My husband bought me a gold necklace for my 40th (about 25 years ago) and I never take it off. I would never wear it if I had to put it on every morning.

draramallama · 18/01/2022 10:11

But isn't it uncomfortable? Especially those saying they sleep wearing watches and earrings. I don't even like wearing zips for sleeping!

Surely putting on a necklace is quicker and easier than other boring habits of getting up like putting on clean clothes or brushing hair?

ANameChangeAgain · 18/01/2022 10:11

I never take my jewellery off. I only remove silver if its going to be exposed to chlorine.

I can't put mine back on myself. It doesn't bother me at all sleeping in them. I don't notice.
TheCatShatInTheHat · 18/01/2022 10:14

I wear my necklace and ring all the time. Always have, like you OP I'd never put them on if I took them off.

septumring99 · 18/01/2022 10:14

I've been wearing a necklace 24/7 for the last year- only took it off once to switch to a slightly fancier one! It's stainless steel though, suits my style and I don't have to worry about it tarnishing. I think it depends on the metal- I'm more than happy to keep this one on as it's designed to be kept on but I wouldn't be as comfortable with other necklaces

maximist · 18/01/2022 10:14

My necklace stays on all the time - I bought my current one over a year ago and don't think I've taken it off since. I really should swap it for another one but I never remember to. It's a thin silver chain with a pendant about 3cm long.
